Home Instead (Buckinghamshire South)

All aspects of the service from Home Instead suited my short-term needs following a fall. Fracturing my wrist, with my arm in plaster, I found tasks eg hosiery and showering difficult. Being in my late 80's and living on my own, having been self-caring after the fall, I lost a lot of confidence. Here Home Instead helped for two months with the above needs (personal care) and so restored my ability and confidence to resume my lifestyle working up to a good recovery with a healed wrist.

My regular carer arrives on time, swales down surfaces before assisting with personal care. This I do appreciate. She helps me in the garden if the weather is dry and hot to keep my plant pots alive. This I cannot do myself any longer. She helps in the kitchen with breakfast and pair lunch preparations. Again jobs I can no longer do myself.

I have recently become much more involved as Deputy Attorney. I have not met all the overnight/evening carers yet. However, we have a live-in day carer who reports back to me. This review is mainly from her input.

I treat them as friends.

The team of caregivers put together for my mother were excellent. They were all practical, professional but also fun and able to make Mum smile and have a laugh. Not all personalities suited but the ability to change individuals to arrive at the best team was made without difficulty and the support in those arrangements from the senior caregiver and her support to the family was such a comfort and carried out with great professionalism. A huge weight was lifted as soon as Home Instead was involved.

Home Instead has provided carers to support my mother in continuing to live at home for about five years. During this time and any difficulties were always worked out. For several years now the service they provide has been excellent. My mother has a dedicated team of carer who work closely in harmony with her. Their practical skills, in the context of washing, changing and moving my bedbound mother are excellent, but most exceptional is the love and genuine caring of her through conversation, respect and empathy which makes a significate difference to her wellbeing as someone bedbound with Dementia.

I am completely satisfied with Home Instead. All are friendly, capable and trustworthy and provide all that is required.

We have carers in twice a day, they are always punctual, pleasant, friendly and conscientious. I have every confidence that leaving a bed-bound patient in their care they will do everything required to make him comfortable.

My carer is excellent. We get along together very well. She always attends regularly and on time and she is most helpful in the care she gives to me. She helps me to shower and dress, which is the service I need most. She makes my bed and puts the rubbish out in the dustbin. At the end of the session, she makes a cup of tea for both of us and we sit and chat and try to put the world to rights! (not always successfully!). She is really good company.

He was brought home baking teats which he loved. Home Instead always tried to accommodate changes in times and dates and were very helpful when he went into hospital.

Following an emergency situation, Home Instead pulled out all the stops to help and continue to support my parents. They are professional and caring and all the staff, admin and caregivers are knowledgeable, friendly and first class. Thank you.

The Carers that visit my father are very well trained and thoughtful people. We are unusual that the visit takes place in a family home where 3 generations gather during the day. Although expensive, all staff I deal with the courteous, friendly and helpful.

I was introduced to your service by a friend and started using it in February 2015 after a bad fall which exacerbated my mobility problems. All along I was impressed by the standard of care, especially when I became more concentrated following a carpal tunnel operation in December 2017. For me, it is a real pleasure to go out with my carer. I always look forward to her visit.

Keeping independent in your own home is important.

Helpful, friendly service providing carers on a daily basis for 1 and a half hours. Carers lead and unload dishwasher and washing machine.

Do ironing, prepare evening meal eg. Spaghetti bolognese and peel apples and make the bed.
