Assist and Care is a family-run independent Domiciliary Care Company.

Assist and Care prides itself on going the extra mile, delivering quality care and support within the local community.

All staff are dementia trained and dementia friends. Staff are now doing level 2&3 in Dementia care.

Dementia sits are fast becoming the company's speciality. They recognise carers need a much deserved break, to go and meet friends, run that errand or just have some "me" time

The team understand how difficult it is to find trusted care for loved ones because they too have cared for their own family members through different stages of illness, which makes caring for YOUR loved ones so personal to them.

The company prides itself on delivering quality, person-centred care. All team members are trained and deliver care with compassion, choice, dignity and respect.

Continuity of the same care professional is something Assist and Care feels is extremely important, so that clients and loved ones can feel at ease and build trusted relationships.

Assist and Care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Covering the following areas;

Completely disingenuous. Management is not on top of carers, some of whom are just bone idle and tell lies. I had to collect evidence and present it to them before they did anything about the poor service they provided to my parents. Even then, they initially tried to talk their way out of it. Took
weeks to get a simple apology.
Fair enough if they were inexpensive, but they charge more or less the same as another provider. Better to pay a few pounds more for a decent service.

Dear Jennifer,
It is such a shame that you felt you had to write such a slandering review when our Manager and Staff went above and beyond not only for your parents but also for your other siblings. So much so your sister has left an honest review. The team who cared for your parents did so with dignity, respect and compassion. We cared for your parents for 14 months and your sister was the prime carer. You did engage with the care for a few weeks. I am sorry to say I have no idea what you refer to in your review. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss further, if you feel the need to. We always go the extra mile whilst delivering excellent care. During your parent's end of life, which you were not present for Social workers, district nurses and the like were more than happy with the service we delivered.
Once again I'm sorry you felt the need to write such a review, when in fact it was your sister who we liaised with throughout our time with your Parents.

My sisters and I have used Assist and Care for over twelve months. I’ve been principal carer for my father for over ten years, with the assistance of professional carers once more personal care was required and two carers to assist with moving and handling. My mother’s care needs have increased over
the last twelve months. The carers have always treated Mum and Dad with the utmost respect, care, and dignity. I’ve always found the management professional and helpful, nothing has ever been too much trouble. The local council social workers and district nurses have had experience of the carers at the house and have commented to me as to the excellent level of care Mum and Dad were receiving. Sadly they have both recently died within two weeks of one another and I must stress that the end-of-life care, attention, and love shown to them, me, and other members of my family was beyond expectations.

Thank you Angela for your lovely review. It was an honour to care for your parents after they had reached well into their nineties. The staff built very good relationships with your Mum and Dad, also other members of your Family. Our Manager was more than happy to go out frequently and check on them. Our managers end of life care is exceptional. She always says its a privilege to care for end of life clients .We often have other professionals commenting on our excellent level of care. I am so pleased you were happy with our support and pleased we were there for you too
Kindest Regards
Tracey

At first, I was reluctant to admit I needed help but I have been grateful for accepting help and have been totally reassured. The service has combined efficiency with patience and has been an important and welcome support and I have been very fortunate in the experience and skills of this agency.

We have been entirely satisfied with the service provided by Assist and Care. All the staff with whom we have had dealings have been warm, kind, and considerate. They are flexible in coping with changing requirements and diligent in coping with any tasks. Changes to routine are dealt with without fuss
and always with due notice and cooperation. Overall, the entire experience has been of great benefit. We have no hesitation in recommending Assist and Care to any interested partners.

Good, helpful staff most of whom like to be kept busy. Difficulties in recruitment, which I believe are common across the care sector, sometimes mean that staff have to be reassigned at short notice to cover gaps in the care of other service users which means that sometimes the person who arrives is
not who has usually attended at a particular time but this agency is quite good about letting you know when that is to be the case.
Reply from Tracey Chuwen, Manager at Assist and Care Ltd

Thank you Roy for taking the time to leave a review. It certainly is a common factor within the healthcare industry to recruit good staff. However, we do always send you somebody you know as we do not believe in sending anyone you are not familiar with. I am also pleased it's helpful when we let you know of any changes. Kindest regards, Tracey Chuwen.

I engaged the services of this company for my father after having been let down badly by another care provider. He had vascular dementia and was living in a care home which didn't provide any regular outings, so I arranged for this company to provide someone to take him out, or simply to provide company
on occasions when he didn't feel like going out. They attended him weekly from July 2019 to March 2020, when the Covid-19 rules meant they were no longer allowed to visit. The staff were very professional, genuinely caring and reliable. They were happy to answer any questions I had and keen to check that my father was happy with the service provided. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Assist and Care stepped in at short notice in March 2020 to provide care for my terminally ill brother when another agency had to cancel due to Coronavirus staff shortages. From initial contact through to end of life care at my brother's death in June, they were compassionate and caring, both in the
execution of their duties and in communication surrounding the required care levels. The carers were wonderful and were as concerned with my brother's mental and emotional wellbeing as they were with his physical needs.
Communication from management and the carers themselves was clear and transparent and the carers meticulously followed safety procedures under difficult conditions, without making such requirements intrusive. They were always on time and always stayed for the full time of the visit. All staff dealt with us with compassion and humour and the difference in him before and after a visit was very noticeable. The end of life care they provided was exceptional.

My Mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia in May 2018. I took care of her, in her own home, from then until last month when she was admitted to a care home for respite and assessment. I engaged Assist and Care Ltd in June 2019 as I needed more help at that point due to Mum’s progressive decline. The
entire organisation has been absolutely marvellous from the outset and, even during the pandemic lock-down, the company still provided ongoing care without any change to Mum’s routine. The carers were provided with PPE and continued to be super-efficient.
The owner, her staff and the carers are extremely experienced, approachable and helpful. The carers enter notes on each visit into their mobile phones and I was able to access the system remotely to double-check whether the carers had been able to carry out all the duties, or if Mum had had a “difficult” day, whilst I was away. The company also performs regular quality reviews to ensure the clients are happy with the service.

The Carers that came to the house were really lovely. My Mum had Alzheimer’s and they treated her with care and understanding. She was always happy to see them and even though her behaviour was sometimes challenging they knew how to cope and always showed her respect. They were honest and trustworthy
and always on time which was important and the care she received was excellent. As a family, we could not have kept Mum at home as long as we did without them. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone needing care at home.

This is a small, local family-run care business I stumbled upon when a large provider let me down at the last minute.
I was very glad to meet them, they came at the drop of a hat at the time. The managers I met with were very empathetic.
This attitude has continued throughout my and my sibling's dealings
with them.
My mum, like most, is used to being independent and does not like change, so it was with reluctance she agreed to help, as she has been in and out of the hospital for some time.
The management; have been true to their word of keeping the same small team of carers and they do not let her down.
My mum has grown used to the extra help and has settled with two carers on a regular basis. The relationship is working well with her team. The management; are always keen to ensure that my mum/their clients are happy and they are very helpful with regards to any changes in the routine. Importantly they do listen and react positively to any issues.
I am happy to recommend them.

I was looking for a company to help in the care of my mum who had moved in with me and became bed bound. The first initial meeting was wonderful the manager listened to my needs and mum's needs was very sympathetic. It was all done and put into place within a week, I had no hassle what's so ever. The
carers are second to none, arrived on time dressed professionally. The care they gave my mum is beyond words, full of compassion for my mum and me especially as mum came to the end of life stage. Can not thank them or praise the company from the manager, team leader and carers.

Assist & Care Ltd is an exceptionally good care provider. The minimum of one hour per visit makes for a comfortable and relaxed experience. I have up to four regular carers; the team leader and care manager make regular checks to ensure I am getting the correct care. The agency uniquely puts on a Christmas

Assist & Care provided carers for my mum for 3 years. My mum could not have been in better hands. The organisation provides carers who really do care. The managers of Assist & Care took great care to organise carers who perfectly matched my mum’s needs. The carers were able to not only help Mum with
physical needs, but all of them provided for her emotional needs. These carers were a lifeline for Mum and gave her life meaning and purpose. The Assist & Care Manager made sure that Mum got the same regular carers that she really clicked with and liked.
Living abroad, it was really comforting for me to know that she was so well looked after especially after she was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in the last year of her life. All of them were so attentive and kind to Mum and genuinely lovely people. She could never have received care as good as this in a nursing home. They gave service above and beyond the call of duty and made the final stage of my mum’s life so happy.

During the two years that my mother was cared for by Assist and Care, I was impressed by the reliable, professional and caring attitude of all the staff. My mother was always treated with dignity and respect, and the carers often went above and beyond the call of duty. The carers made the effort to
get to know my mother's needs and showed great attention to detail. They helped her to maintain a degree of independence by encouraging her, yet did not 'take over', and seemed to know intuitively when more assistance was required.
The manager is also a compassionate, conscientious person who provided an excellent service. The carers had obviously undergone training and were also diligent in completing the necessary documentation. I was particularly pleased that there was always a familiar face, and new carers were introduced to my mother before arriving to take care of her.
I would be more than happy to recommend Assist and Care to anyone requiring care at home.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Assist and Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 54 Ratings = 5

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Assist and Care Ltd is based on 9 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Tracey is the founder of Assist and Care, setting up the company in 2010.

Her own experience of caring began at the age of just 15 when her mother was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour, Tracey cared for her mother throughout her life, she also cared for her father at home during his battle with cancer. Her Aunty with Dementia. Tracey gained first-hand experience of the lack of help that was available to the family during these times. The service that was provided was very generic and did not always meet the holistic needs of her loved ones or the rest of the family's needs Tracey decided after the death of her parents to take up a career in caring as it was something she felt extremely passionate about, determined that community care could be delivered to a high standard.

Tracey’s professional career as a carer included working in individual homes, nursing homes, hospitals and also with a local trust providing care for adults with learning disabilities, Tracey works with a holistic approach.

It is a personal mission for Tracey and her daughter Keera to provide the best care and helping hands. Susan started her caring journey age just 19 when she cared for her grandmother in the final year of her life, as she felt the care provided lacked dignity and compassion.

In 2006 Sue's eldest son aged 15 was rushed into hospital with an acquired brain injury.

He spent 6 months in the hospital on life support machines. Sue was overjoyed to learn he would be going back home with her, however following his discharge there was little support from the health care system and what was available was inadequate and did not meet the family's needs.

Sue began working for a small domiciliary care company and her passion for care grew.

Wanting to challenge herself further she changed career direction and started working with children/ adults with complex needs.

Then she returned back to elderly care as this is where her heart is.

Sue loves working with older clients and admires their determination and strength and what a joy it is to listen to the stories they tell.

Sue says her dream and goal for the future is that every person receiving care is given the highest standard of care, moulded around their needs and wishes and not around the needs of a care system. Sue joined the company in May 2023, it is a pleasure to have her on our team. Although office based she enjoys regularly going out to meet and work with our clients.
