Phoenix Care Ltd, Wakefield, have been looking after my mum and dad since mid-January, and the service has been absolutely first class.
They visit three times a day, and the support they provide has taken a huge amount of pressure off our family. Every member of the care team is kind, reliable, and
genuinely compassionate. Mum and Dad feel really connected to the carers who help them, and it's clear how much trust and comfort that relationship brings.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, communication is excellent, and the dignity and respect shown to my parents is outstanding. Knowing they're in such safe, caring hands gives us complete peace of mind.
I would highly recommend Phoenix Care to anyone looking for professional, warm, and dependable home care.

The level of service from Phoenix Care is amazing. Without their dedication the life of my mother, whose is housebound, would be immeasurably different!
They not only take care of the day to day but also look out for her mental and physical well being, alerting when interventions are needed.
I can't
recommend highly enough

All staff members have been very kind and caring towards my mother over all the years they have looked after her. The consistency of care and regular familiar friendly faces has been of enormous help. They do an excellent job caring for a lady who is very vulnerable with severe physical needs as well
as dementia; our family is very grateful to feel that she is in safe hands, giving us peace of mind.
Reply from Joanne Thompson, Director at Phoenix Care LtdThank you for your review DH. Really appreciate it. I think its nearly 12 years we have cared for your mother. Shes part of the Phoenix family now.

Phoenix Care Staff looked after my dad from December 24 until he sadly passed away April 25. They allowed a proud man to maintain his dignity throughout their personal care. My parents and the rest of our family were totally comfortable and happy with the team who carried out his care. They genuinely
care about their clients and it's quite evident that they all love their work and respect the Management. We have nothing but praise for this Company and highly recommend them to anyone requiring care.
Reply from Joanne Thompson, Director at Phoenix Care LtdThank you Diane for your kind words. What a pleasure it was to care for you dad. What a true gentleman he was. We miss him and your mum so much.

My 94 year old mother is under the care of Phoenix and as such have always found the care provided by them to be professional and most importantly caring. On many occasions individuals within the company have gone what I would consider well beyond the call of duty, whether that be helping with visits
to the Doctor or assisting with annual vaccinations or other sundry matters. As such I would have no hesitation in recommending Phoenix as a company.

I am very pleased with the care I receive, the best thing about my care is I have the same carers at the times I agreed. They will take me to the doctor's, dentist, hospital appointments shopping and the garden centre for a coffee and a bun. They are amazing and will do anything for me I have built
up a good relationship with them.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.750)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.750) out of 10 for Phoenix Care Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Phoenix Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Phoenix Care Ltd is based on 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 4.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Team Manager Joined: 2021

I’m Joanne, and I’m the Team Manager here at Phoenix Care. I started my journey in care in July 2021, and since then, my role has grown so much — I genuinely love everything about what I do. I’m lucky to have a varied role where I can still work directly with our clients, supporting them in their day-to-day lives, while also being involved with the office team and wider support network.

Before working in care, I spent 25 years in finance, but I wanted to do something more meaningful — something where I could really make a difference to people’s lives. Moving into care gave me that opportunity, and it’s been incredibly rewarding ever since.

For me, great care is about supporting people in a way that respects their dignity and independence, while helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered. It’s the little things that matter — from personal care to home-cooked meals, and especially spending quality time together and offering companionship.

What makes Phoenix Care special to me is the support and opportunities I’ve been given. I started as a support worker and have been able to progress into a management role with the help of amazing guidance and training. It’s a team that truly cares — both about the people we support and each other — and I’m really proud to be part of it.

Outside of work, I enjoy sewing and love finding unique vintage fabrics or patterns to create one-off pieces. It’s something I find relaxing and a great way to switch off.

I really enjoy the variety that comes with working in care and, most importantly, meeting and supporting all the amazing people we look after. For me, great care is all about trust, honesty, compassion, and being consistent in everything we do for our clients.

Phoenix Care feels like a real family to me. It’s a family-run business, and once you start working here, you quickly feel part of that — not just as a team member, but as part of a wider family.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and grandchildren, and I also enjoy getting out for walks with my dogs.
