I also requested a breakdown of costs which had to be chased before it was received.
In September Mum suffered two TIAs which destroyed her short term memory and her insight into her condition. The helpers from Home Instead reacted with exemplary patience and kindness. As she became slower they adjusted to her, without making her feel slow. They became welcome friends and her windows on the outside world, but they always gave me detailed feedback on any areas of concern as they arose.
Her decline accelerated in December, but she would still smile at a face she recognised and trusted, even when she would confidently come up with the wrong name. She had more TIAs, two while carers were present, and the helpers stayed on to calm her and help me with the practicalities while we waited for paramedics and ambulances. It was a difficult time for both of us. We couldn't have managed without their help.
Mum died in early January. Thanks to Home Instead she could live at home until her last few days. She was very grateful.
I would just like to thank the care team for their professional and friendly care. Nothing was too much trouble as they cared for my Mums needs, whether it be personal or just a friendly chat and a cup of tea. Unfortunately it was only for a short time as Mum has had to go into a nursing home. We could not have survived the last 6 months without all their help. Thanks again.
Thank you for your kind words Barry. It was a pleasure to have helped you and your family.
I have found all the staff from Home Instead are very nice, friendly and helpful people. They are very flexible with their sitting service, and always ready to accommodate us.
Thank you for your taking the time to review us and the kind words. We try our best!
Very good and helpful.
They made my husband happy by talking to him, putting on his favourite programmes and discs of music.
On occasions, they would give him drinks or help to eat.
Apart from this, I was able to go shopping or the dentist etc...
They would wash up, iron, move washing to the dryer, fold and then put away bedding or clothes.
They would help with changing the beds, vacuuming and dusting, as well as being supportive if I was feeling low, which was quite often.
I could not have wished for better care.
My husband has five visits a week from two caregivers. We get on with them both. They talk to us both. They are more like friends. My husband feels comfortable with both girls. We feel spoilt at times.
They have accompanied me to hospital appointments. On one occasion I had to go to A&E. I was there from 17.00 to 23.30 and my caregiver stayed with me and brought me home, all still with a smile on her face.
I could not stay in my own home without them.
My caregivers are lovely. They always make sure I am safe. They always make sure I have anything I need. They are willing to adapt to anything I want to do. They always check with me to make sure I am happy.
They always make sure I am wearing my pendant before they leave me. They provide me with friendship and they always ask me about my day. They make sure I have taken my medication. I look forward to every visit.
All the girls are lovely. I have 2 visits a day. The girls will do anything I ask them to do. The girls come in to help me but when my husband was taken ill, they automatically went the extra mile by making his bed and emptying the commode without being asked. We both love the girls and look forward to them coming.
My caregivers are very good and very kind. I get on well with them. They get me up in the morning and help me to bed at night. I don't know what I would do without them.
My carers are very good. They keep me well, they look after me making sure I eat, dress and sleep. They are kind and I do have my favourites.
I like all the girls that come to see me.
From the start, they have fulfilled their role and been able to meet the ever changing needs of my parents.
Initially, we required just a few hours a week but now they are providing night time cover also.
It also helps that the carers have got to know mum and dad and can anticipate their needs. Mum has Alzheimer's so is not always easy to understand.
If I ever require extra hours covered this is always facilitated.
I can always get in touch with management and communication is good.
We are very happy with the service they provide.
Thank you so much for your detailed review. We very much enjoy working with you and your family and will endeavor to maintain these high standards in times to come.
Excellent carers who left very clear info after each visit. Did all that was asked for and, on occasions, above and beyond. Service user thought very highly of them and would have been happy to have increased visit had it not been necessary for him to go into residential care.
A bespoke service which is very responsive to the individual needs of the client. Well done to all concerned for the welfare of my mother.
First class personal service tailored to the needs and choices of the client . My father in law wouldn't be with us now if it wasn't for the care provided by Home Instead. We live in excess of 2 hours away from my father in law and although things have been hectic since the beginning of the year when Home Instead began providing help and care they have supported us all the way and been a lifeline. Would recommend them without hesitation!
My caregiver comes to help me with getting out of bed, makes my bed and does things without being asked to. My caregiver arrives on time and is keen to help me. I would not know what to do without her.
Very kind, you've been so good to me, you have been here for me as I have felt lonely. Thank you so much for all of your help. You are both very kind.
I have had Home Instead since the 24th of September 2015. When my friends went away for a week, Home Instead really looked after me, providing me with the support I needed. I was very pleased.
