We pride ourselves on providing excellent quality Home Care at competitive prices.
The costs of Home Care will vary depending on the type of care you need, how often you need it, and where you live. We offer everything from short visits to 24 hour Live In Care. If you have more complex needs, you may need two Home Carers per visit, so we can provide a cost for this too.
Live-in Care is generally considered to be a cost effective alternative to living in a care home, whilst still providing a level of independence. Everyone’s needs are different so the costs of Live-in Care can vary depending on the level of care required. Unlike other Home Care options, the costs of our Live-in Care remains the same wherever you live across the South of England.
We adapt our Home Care services to suit your specific requirements. Our Home Care costs include a personalised care plan, ensuring your care suits your needs, wishes and budget.
We want to make arranging Home Care as simple and easy as possible. When you contact your local Team, we’ll work with you to design a customised care plan. Once you choose our service, your care plan is kept under constant review so that it continues to suit you.

From the beginning of my care, I have always been delighted with my care. All of the carers are very well trained and I enjoyed seeing them every visit, I am treated with care and dignity and feel clean and tidy for the day ahead. If time permits, they will also do little tasks for me which they are
happy to do. Overall, excellent care.

Alina carers have been helping to care for my mother for several months. They usually arrive on time and despite their many care call commitments and sometimes rushing, they are kind, respectful, patient and usually knowledgeable. Some carers are more experienced than others and some take more care
when handling my elderly and very frail mother. Alina have been very attentive to changes when required and helping out where other agencies have failed often at the last minute for which I am very grateful. They have also provided the same team of carers with whom my mother is familiar thus giving us consistency. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others looking for care of their loved ones.

I think they are a very good company and do a good job. There are some things to work on, for example, some of the carers don't do the tasks as set out in the care plan. I think the staff could be trained better with disability awareness. Some staff are excellent and very experienced but the newer ones,
not so. I think some of the staff are too young and inexperienced to be supporting me. The carers complete the tasks I ask them to do mostly but sometimes I feel they seem to be in a hurry especially in the evenings.

We appreciate all constructive feedback that enables us to monitor our service delivery. We discuss it with our clients as we have done in this case and share with the care team involved to collectively work together to ensure the agreed support is provided consistently and to our high standards.

We have been using Alina Homecare for over a year for my elderly parents. They now have carers in daily. We have found Alina, reliable, flexible, and understanding. There are particular carers within the team that have gone above and beyond to ensure that my mother (who has dementia) is happy and settled.
They truly care and we cannot thank them enough for the care they have given our parents. They will highlight any issues as soon as possible and record their daily visits on an app so we can see what has happened on that day and the care they have provided. The Manager is easy to get on with, caring and wants the best. We have built up a good relationship with her over the months and she has listened to our requests and helped as soon as possible.

I find all my carers excellent - helpful, caring, empathetic. Wonderful. However, the manager leaves a lot to be desired; constantly altering my visit times without notice to either the carers or myself. She displays a coldness towards her carers, in matters such as sickness, which I find inexplicable.
Also, she does not seem to understand the danger I am in with narcolepsy and cataplexy - eg. one thing that causes it is surprise, and yet she has sent carers unknown to me many times. An example of this happened only this morning when a member of staff, who I have not seen for ages, arrived and I collapsed immediately. In the past, I have collapsed in the street as well.

We are clearly disappointed to read this review. We always make it clear to all clients and families that our carers are all trained to the same high standard and although we try to accommodate the same carers visiting the same clients for each call this is not always possible, especially whilst working through a pandemic. Our Hemel Hempstead branch has been professionally and successfully run by our manager since 2017; the Care Quality Commissions rated the service as Good in 2019.

My Aunt's needs are becoming more challenging and her regular carers are consistently understanding, kind, caring, professional and helpful. One of her carers, in particular, is outstanding; proactive and thoughtful.

The standard of the care personnel provided by Alina was acceptable. However, the charging for time beyond the contracted hours (charged in 15-minute blocks) is very steeply in favour of the provider and in my opinion is being abused to extract additional monies from the client. For example, the invoice
entries on my parent's account showed the carer was allegedly there exactly 1 minute into the excess charge window, on more than 1 occasion. I'm highly suspicious of this practice and recommend anyone who is using Alina to have it stated in writing that care providers can only stay beyond their contracted hours if it is agreed with the client on the day before the contracted hours are exceeded. I was expecting higher standards of operation from Alina. We have now switched provider and are very happy with the new service, there are no such financial issues to deal with.

Reply from Jayne McGann, Marketing Manager at Alina Homecare Hemel Hempstead

We are very disappointed to read this review. We openly discuss costs with a client and their family at the initial consultation, set these out in their contract and at subsequent reviews.
If a client unexpectedly needs a little extra help, our carers have a cushion of time to give which we don’t charge for. However, when customers repeatedly go beyond this cushion even after it has been clearly explained that this will result in additional costs, then we will charge in line with our terms and conditions. We are very proud of the great quality care our carers provide and hope others respect that their skills need to be paid for.

Used Alina for care visits 3-times a day for my mother who lives some distance from me. Lovely carers who provided great care for my mum giving me peace of mind each day that she had everything she needs. Good communication with carers and managers. Would use again and recommend.

Alina Homecare in Hemel Hempstead have been caring for my mother-in-law since December 2018 starting with just a few visits a week, however, her condition has deteriorated rapidly and she now has several visits each day. The carers have all been brilliant and there are one or two of her regular carers
who are absolutely outstanding!

I find the management at Alina very good, readily available on the phone or in person, easy to talk to and open to consider whatever we feel would be best for Mum. Alina have been able to change/increase her care package remarkably quickly which has made things run smoothly for us and knowing that the carers are there so often has taken a lot of pressure off the family. Yes, there may be the occasional change to staff or timing that upsets Mum but they are always ready to listen and try to solve any problems.

I would highly recommend the Hemel Hempstead branch of Alina Homecare to anyone needing home care for themselves or their loved ones in this area.

Alina Homecare Hemel Hempstead have provided a three-visit per day care service to our elderly relative for well over a year now. I am pleased to say that the service provision and the manner in which it is managed has always met or exceeded expectation. The staff who attend the house are professional,
polite, attentive and genuinely caring; the office support is efficient, and the upper management are accessible should they be needed. In an industry with a reasonably high staff turnover, it is worthy of note that in our experience many of the carers are long-standing staff, the benefit of which is longer-term relationships with our relative which in turn promotes a good sense of well-being. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of the manager and her team.

Management is the main problem in this company because there's a lack of communication, compassion, empathy and understanding! Considering they're running a care company this is a huge problem. The management are very unprofessional and treat their staff and customers appallingly so the good carers
leave and so do the customers eventually as it isn't always easy to find another care provider. Quite a few of their customers can't or won't speak out but I was given notice of termination for my care package because I mentioned in a customer questionnaire and head office I find the manager and operations manager unapproachable and asked who to speak to! I was portrayed as awkward and unreasonable but I don't think it's unreasonable to complain about being given food poisoning, having my safety compromised etc.

We’re deeply saddened by this review.
We have built a strong reputation in the local area for providing high quality services and have a loyal and dedicated staff team. We conduct regular client and staff reviews which help develop our services and the support given to our staff. Demand for our services in Hemel is growing, resulting in a recent move to larger premises - the opening was marked by a great social event attended by the Mayor and many satisfied clients and staff.
