Fourways have cared for my mother for many years now ensuring happiness, confidence and professionalism in their relationship with her resulting in companionship and trust. Often her carers go beyond expectations and have reassured my mother in her wish to stay in her own home without anxiety.
Thank you very much , we are very glad you and your Mum are happy !
I couldn't be more pleased. They are kind and have patience with her and always try to fit in any changes/requests I have. Thank you all!

Karla has been with Fourways since 2017. She has worked in local care settings and has a good understanding of clients' needs. She visits our clients at their home for an informal chat about their requirements, as well as completing the initial assessment and care plan, plus the ongoing reviews of our clients. As one of our on-call contacts, she provides assistance and support to our carers and clients outside of our office hours.
I was born in Burnley, Lancashire. I left school in 1978 and started working at Grenfell, a clothing factory making raincoats. I loved sewing and still do; however, I gave up work to start a family. Later in life, I decided I would like to work in the care sector.
I got a job in a nursing home in Burnley. I loved it, working the night duties, I stayed until my husband and I decided to move to Devon in 1997. I had various jobs in nursing and residential homes, and also worked with young adults with physical and sensory disabilities. I enjoyed that role as it was so rewarding. I started domiciliary care in 2000 and really enjoyed assisting clients in their own homes to maintain their independence. I used to do on - call duties at weekends and did that for three years. I left that role in 2010 as I moved house and didn’t want to travel a distance to work. I joined Fourways Community Care later in 2010 and have worked for them for 15 years. I have, however, moved house again, so I have a distance to drive, but I won’t be changing my job again as I am happy at Fourways and am proud to say I’m a member of a great team. I don’t really have any goals as I am happy with what I have achieved in my 30 years as a carer.
I've been working in the care sector for the majority of my professional life, throughout various settings from the NHS, to EMI units, care homes and the community.
For the last 8 + years, I've been with Fourways Community Care as a community support worker, which I absolutely love for many reasons, including that the team here is known as 'The Little Blue Army '
Working in the community, caring for those who wish to remain in their homes, is personally such a rewarding role. Retaining independence is important to all of our clients, and I feel passionate about supporting them in this with the kindness, dignity and respect I would give my own family.
To me, family is precious. I consider it a true privilege to be in the position to care for someone else's loved one.
Care work is what I naturally gravitate towards. Over the years, I've had opportunities to volunteer, and I've found myself aiding the community. From running a creche in HM Exeter Prison to working with the Coroners' court support service team.
My training is up to date and ongoing.
A little about me, I'm married with 4 adult children, 8 wonderful grandchildren, I'm an avid reader, I love to cook while listening to music, enjoy walks in our beautiful countryside, and like travelling around the world in between.
My initials are HRH, which my clients often find amusing! I tell them it makes my luggage look good....
