My excellent experience:
For almost three years, I have been one of my carers clients. She is an outstanding carer and I really appreciate her support. She has many great qualities. Foremost amongst these are her patient, altruistic and compassionate nature. Her conscientious attention to detail while
supporting me always makes me feel respected and valued. She is particularly adept at supporting me to attend and access activities in my local community. For example, she supports me to engage in gardening activities with a local gardening group. She also provides me with excellent sighted guidance on walks as I am visually impaired. In my opinion, she is the best carer in the company and it is a privilege to be cared for by her.

.. in all working groups there is a range of abilities. In this case all the staff are satisfactory to good to occasionally excellent, very industrious, intelligent, kind, caring and very respectful. They all engage well with the person being cared for, jollying them along when the mood of the client
is awkward, to ease the situation as appropriately to succeed in giving the required. The carers always work in harmony with the client's husband acting as their assistant.

What really makes care providers shine in end of life situations is when they excel at everything in showing compassion and care to the people they're supporting. Although our relationship was only short, the support we received from both management and the actual carer was exemplary. The carer couldn't
do enough - my parents need reassurance within an unusual situation - everyone warmed to her really quickly. Thank you for everything you've done.

It is difficult to judge "value for money" as I have nothing to compare it with. "Management" rating is low, despite them making several phone calls to check my wife was happy with their services. It is clear that the company is struggling to recruit carers. It is disappointing therefore to see that
intransigence of a local manager has lead directly to a much liked and experienced carer leaving the company after 5+ years service. Despite our 30 min call time of 09:45, carers are sometimes visiting up to an hour in advance or later than contracted. One occasion, we were woken by the Lotus carer knocking on the door at 07:55. On mothers day no lotus representative attended. On sunday 23rd Feb '25, carer called at 11:20. As my wife had got herself up and dressed by then and had breakfast, the carers were not required )apparently called a doorstep cancellation). I do not expect to pay for this pointless visit. Does Lotus inform the local authority not to charge on such occasions?

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We genuinely appreciate your honesty and the opportunity to address your concerns. We understand that it can be difficult to assess value for money without other services to compare with, and we take your comments regarding management and staffing very seriously. We are aware of the current challenges in recruiting and retaining carers within the sector and are actively working to improve this, so that we can provide greater consistency and reliability for all our clients. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by carers arriving outside the scheduled times, as well as for the missed visit on Mother's Day and the late visit on 23rd February. These are not the standards we aim to uphold, Regarding your concern about being charged for visits that did not take place or were not needed , We will investigate the specific incident you mentioned and ensure that, where applicable you are not be billed .

A few weeks of respite care at home and at short notice was provided for my husband. The manager was very good, caring and professional and arranged for us to meet the carer prior. My husband was looked after well and the house was very clean on my return. Unfortunately as English was not the carers'
first language there were difficulties in understanding and he could not hold conversations.

Reply from Gerry Petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Wakefield

It sounds like the respite care experience for your husband was overall positive, with good communication from the manager and quality care during your absence. It's understandable that difficulties in communication, due to language barriers, could have been frustrating. Despite this, it's clear that the care provided and the cleanliness of your home were satisfactory, which are important aspects of such a service. If you plan on using Lotus Care again, you might consider discussing the language aspect with the service provider beforehand to ensure smoother communication.

We have experienced money going missing, calls not been delivered on time, medication not been administered properly, no MAR sheet in the property, care plan not been followed, dirty smelly washing not been taken to laundry, poor communication with the office. Managers appear to say the right things
but nothing changes, meeting arranged with deputy and did not attend, sent someone else.

If I could keep the same carers all the time it would be very good.

Reply from Harry Singh at Lotus Home Care Wakefield

Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are working hard to ensure a dedicated group of carers remain visiting yourself however on occasion (i.e. if the prior appointment requires an emergency being attended to), cannot always guarantee this. We will work hard to ensure this occurs.

The team care for my parents both in their 90's who live together in their own home and both have different needs. All the carers interact with them as individuals. The team often go above and beyond the basic requirements and always contact me with any concerns. This is a great team and I would recommend
them to anybody.

It is only three weeks since engaging the company but in the main finding service is effective to date.
Eventually, the time scheduling needs to be tightened but overall have no complaints.
Impressed with the use of medication administering records and with the carers resume of their individual inputs.

The care and support my parents have been given have been a breath of fresh air. Everyone was very concerned for my mother doing the care for my father and her with exhaustion. The carers come in are respectful of the house and my parents, helping to do jobs such as helping with the cooking, taking
some of the work off Mum. The kindness and care the carers have given her have been second to none and my parents and I are very grateful. Thank you.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.407 for Lotus Home Care Wakefield is calculated as follows: ( (25 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 54 Ratings = 4.407

I have worked in care for over 10 years, I started working with children and then moved into adult social care.

I started as a care co-ordinator and worked my way up to Registered Manager within a short space of time, this was down to my regional manager at the time who put a lot of faith in me and encouraged me to be the best version of myself. I love to see people happy and thriving at home and I am a strong believer that home is where the heart is. My main job role is maintaining a safe and compliant service and aiming to exceed expectations. There is no better feeling than seeing not only a service user smile but also seeing family happy with the care we are providing.
