Overall Experience
Belong at Home Newcastle-under-Lyme cared for my mother-in-law in her home twice a day, morning and evening. The team who cared for her were excellent. They were compassionate, friendly, always punctual and treated her with the utmost respect. We felt very confident leaving her in their capable hands. There was nothing they wouldn’t do to ensure her comfort. They brightened her day with their chat and laughter.
The manager was very professional and understanding and always willing to help with any problem we may have.

I would not hesitate in recommending Belong at Home.

My Mum has been having regular visits from the Belong team for the last year or so. It has enabled her to stay in her own home and maintain a level of independence which is very important to her. All of her helpers are so kind and helpful and the managers/care coordinators are always happy to discuss Mum's care needs and adapt her rota accordingly. I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

We used the Belong at Home service for my mother, who is 90 and suffering from Alzheimer's. She had a daily evening visit just to make sure she was OK, had taken her pills and was safe for the night. My sister met the visitors and found them lovely and caring. I dealt with the manager and found him friendly and professional.

Reply from Tom, Area Manager at Belong at Home Newcastle-under-Lyme

All the team, whether area manager, supervisor or support staff are very friendly and caring. Communications are very good. Since my Mum has given her permission, I am included in the decision making and informed of any necessary details. My Mum says she is very happy with the support the team provides at home.

My husband only had carers from Belong on a Wednesday afternoon. It was a pleasure to open the door to a smiling face and a happy greeting. The same when I got back from shopping, the two of them were sitting, chatting and drinking tea.

My mother became seriously confused due to a UTI whilst I was away at my home in Cornwall and was not taking her medication. The manager arranged for my mum to have three visits each day to administer her medication and provide her with other care, such as making her breakfast within a matter of hours. This alleviated my stress and concerns, as I was totally confident in the care that was being provided. The manager, and his Senior, communicated with me on a very regular basis and assisted in arrangements when my mum was taken to hospital as her condition deteriorated. This continued when she was discharged and the manager communicated with the ward that my mum was on, regarding her expected date of discharge.

The manager sent me the link to a 'dementia clock' as when my Mum was confused she didn’t know what time it was, or even what day it was. I bought the clock suggested which is excellent and will be a help to my mum on an ongoing basis, even now she is no longer confused as the clock is so clear.

A range of lovely ladies who help with shopping, housework, food and husband's showers. We have three 1/2 hour visits each day (morning, lunch and tea). Extra visits if needed. When I have falls, extra staff come up to our apartment to help me and to give extra care for my husband if I have to go to the hospital. They will, if needed, take me or/and husband to the doctors. Lots of assorted activities in our lovely building (but bad parking - outsiders park and go shopping!)

I can't speak highly enough of the excellent service provided by Belong At Home, Newcastle under Lyme, in helping to care for my elderly parents and enabling them to remain in their own home in line with their clear wishes. Belong At Home has been able to provide care visits at the times and on the days required. The manager and carers are all very professional and caring, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We are continuing to use their services and would not hesitate to recommend them.
