I am very pleased with all the carers. I am disappointed lately keep getting different times and not regular carers. All of a sudden they changed it, it was fine in the beginning. I was annoyed on Saturday 29th March I didn't get anyone at teatime, they rang my friend to come, this was wrong because
she doesn't get paid by Choices.
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)Thank you for taking the time to review us, your feedback is really appreciated (both positive and negative to assist with future improvements to our services). We would also like to say thank you for giving us your five star rating but we're sorry you've found that sometimes carers have recently come at different times (or we've had to make special arrangements). Please be aware that sometimes we do have to send different carers to attend care visits due to holidays or sickness, however, we do our very best to ensure continuity of care for all of our service users; please be assured that your comments have been passed on to the service manager who will check into them to ensure we continue to provide the very best care that we can. Thanks again for reviewing us via Homecare.co.uk and please don't hesitate to get in touch with your local office on the usual contact number if ever there is anything you'd like to discuss, we will do our very best to try and help you.

I have two care ladies to care for me, but if they are off I don't know who will be coming.
When I try to get through to ask, I cannot get an answer on the phone.
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)Thank you for taking the time to let us have your review, we really appreciate your feedback as it supports us to continue improving our services in the future. We are so sorry to hear that you have been unable to check who will be coming, when your regular care workers were off, because you couldn't get through to the office when you tried to call and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please rest assured that we have checked our phones and have also put plans in place to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. Thanks again for your feedback as we really appreciate your support, please don't hesitate to get in touch if there's anything else at all that you would like to discuss.

I find that the carers mainly very good, but the person responsible for scheduling the carer times of visiting clients is totally wrong my carers come mainly nearer the time that they should come but at weekends sometimes hit and miss or I don't get any carers at all without warning that they are not
coming or rescheduled and replace a carer that was supposed to have come but changed it without me knowing who I am going to get. It seams that this scheduler should come and see for himself on what mess he is doing to us clients schedules and also the carers too, if he don't then it's just going to get worse.
Reply from Anthea Stuart, Registered Manager at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. I am pleased that you are happy with the carers that visit you through out the week , Unfortunately at times of staff absences or Annual Leave a different carer is allocated at short notice to ensure that our duty of care is fulfilled. We are currently recruiting carers so it is expected that all weekend visits will be permanently covered and schedules will then reflect a more settled service for all.

Happy regarding the care my mum is receiving. Choices Homecare have provided my mum with a few regular carers which has enabled them to know my mums needs, her ways and likes and dislikes therefore providing continuation and good standard of care and developing a good professional relationship with
mum. Occasionally carers who are not so familiar with my mum have difficulty identifying her memory loss/dementia which could affect. The carers do not hesitate to inform me if there are any issues with um and management always available for my to contact by email or phone always very helpful.

Would be good to receive a couple of the same carers as I have to instruct them if they haven't been before. But all the carers are very kind. Also, I still get charged even if I have had to cancel due to illness or hospital appointments. Hopefully, I'll get a refund!
Reply from Anthea Stuart, Registered Manager at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)Thank you for your comments. I am pleased you find the carers kind. Unfortunately, if sickness prevents us from sending a regular carer we have to send another to ensure care needs are met. The carers have full access to each personal care plan so you should not need instruct them and I am sorry you have had to do this. Regarding charging, we only charge the local authority what we deliver in-line with our policies and procedures. If I can be of any assistance advising you further please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I find the carers I have now can be summed up as kind, respectful and pleasant. Helpful in all aspects of care, exactly what is needed, especially considering the very long hours they put in and I suspect with not well paid.

Some carers are diligent and attentive.
Not enough attention is given to administering meals.
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)Thank you for taking the time to submit your review, we really appreciate all feedback received (both positive and negative) to assist us with making future improvements to our services. We have been in touch to discuss your comments further and understand that you are generally happy with the care you receive. We are sorry that at times you feel 'insufficient attention is given to administering meals' but understand that meals are sometimes left to defrost in the fridge, to ensure they are ready for preparation at meal times and that this can sometimes appear as though they are just being left in the fridge on a regular basis. Please feel welcome to contact the office (on your usual local number) should there ever be anything you (or your family) would like to discuss; please rest assured that we will do everything we can to try and help you and put plans in place in order to resolve a situation should this be required. We have two care teams sharing duties. The first team have been consistent from day one and seem experienced and are very good. The second shift has been covered by a wide mix of staff who seem less experienced/proficient although we now seem to have two more regular staff for the second shift who will
hopefully grow into the role as they become more familiar with my mother.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
