Home Care Providers Owned by Choices Homecare

8.8 Group Review Score (the average from all locations with a review score)
  • Home Care Providers Owned by Choices Homecare
With their 25th anniversary approaching, Choices Homecare felt it was the right time to bring all of their homecare services together, under one identity and one single, inclusive team. (Services were formally known as TLC Homecare, Choices, Local Care Services, WarrenCare, Safe Hands and Mayday Homecare, across Yorkshire and in the North West).

They offer a person-centred approach to a wide range of care needs (offering support with: personal care, meal preparation, medication assistance, home Respite/safety check visits or sitting services whilst family go out, assisting service users to go out into the community, shopping, light domestic help and more). They can also provide support to adults who suffer dementia or those with learning or other disabilities.

There is a strong focus on quality recruitment and training within Choices, whilst care and support workers promote choice and independence to assist service users in remaining as independent as possible, whatever the situation. Outcome-focused services take account of client preferences and aspirations, with 'Choices' considering themselves as 'working in partnership with' their service users, supporting them to deliver 'a service to be proud of' throughout their services.

Choices are passionate about delivering safe, well-planned, quality care and support services to local people, throughout local communities and delivering the very best care that they can.

I just wanted those of you who are looking for home cares to know just how good CHOICES HOMECARE are.

My wife had to go into care whilst I was in hospital, following this it was decided that we needed care for my wife, simply because I was no longer well enough to give her the care she needs,

Choices

Homecare was recommended to us by the care home my wife was in, and also by the Social Services,

They have been caring for my wife 3/4 per day since the end of MAY 2025, and are still doing so, my wife has terminal cancer plus a incontinence problem and also a stoma, she has been confined to bed for a few years now

She is washed daily, clothing/underware/bedding all changed as and when required, sometimes more than once a day,

The care and attention given by all of carers who attend to Mary is second to none, I would fully recommend Choices Homecare to anyone.
At first their fee's were met by S/S, we now have to pay for their services, but don't care, they are worth every penny

Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Oldham)

Thank you for submitting your kind comments, we are so pleased that you find the care and attention received from our care workers 'second to none' and that you are happy with the support your wife receives from them. Your feedback will be passed on to the members of staff who attend your wife, along with huge thanks for all their hard work. Thanks again for recommending us and for the positive feedback received, we really appreciate your time taken to submit a review.

So far my mum's only needed carers twice a week for showering. The carers have changed from normal routines to accommodate her needs on different days. They always ask is she needs anything else and let me know if there's any change in her condition or needs anything to make her comfortable. One carer
in particular has gone above and beyond to get her doctors appointments when she couldn't get one, made sure she had barrier spray and anything else she needs. I am very grateful to have carers who genuinely care about both me and my mother.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review, we are so pleased that you find your Mum's carers accommodating and that you feel that they genuinely care... Your feedback will be passed on to the carers concerned as a thank you for all of their hard work. Thanks again for your kind comments!

I am very pleased with all the carers. I am disappointed lately keep getting different times and not regular carers. All of a sudden they changed it, it was fine in the beginning. I was annoyed on Saturday 29th March I didn't get anyone at teatime, they rang my friend to come, this was wrong because
she doesn't get paid by Choices.

Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)

Thank you for taking the time to review us, your feedback is really appreciated (both positive and negative to assist with future improvements to our services). We would also like to say thank you for giving us your five star rating but we're sorry you've found that sometimes carers have recently come at different times (or we've had to make special arrangements). Please be aware that sometimes we do have to send different carers to attend care visits due to holidays or sickness, however, we do our very best to ensure continuity of care for all of our service users; please be assured that your comments have been passed on to the service manager who will check into them to ensure we continue to provide the very best care that we can. Thanks again for reviewing us via Homecare.co.uk and please don't hesitate to get in touch with your local office on the usual contact number if ever there is anything you'd like to discuss, we will do our very best to try and help you.

I find that the carers mainly very good, but the person responsible for scheduling the carer times of visiting clients is totally wrong my carers come mainly nearer the time that they should come but at weekends sometimes hit and miss or I don't get any carers at all without warning that they are not
coming or rescheduled and replace a carer that was supposed to have come but changed it without me knowing who I am going to get. It seams that this scheduler should come and see for himself on what mess he is doing to us clients schedules and also the carers too, if he don't then it's just going to get worse.

Reply from Anthea Stuart, Registered Manager at Choices Homecare (Kirklees & Wakefield)

Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. I am pleased that you are happy with the carers that visit you through out the week , Unfortunately at times of staff absences or Annual Leave a different carer is allocated at short notice to ensure that our duty of care is fulfilled. We are currently recruiting carers so it is expected that all weekend visits will be permanently covered and schedules will then reflect a more settled service for all.

Happy regarding the care my mum is receiving. Choices Homecare have provided my mum with a few regular carers which has enabled them to know my mums needs, her ways and likes and dislikes therefore providing continuation and good standard of care and developing a good professional relationship with
mum. Occasionally carers who are not so familiar with my mum have difficulty identifying her memory loss/dementia which could affect. The carers do not hesitate to inform me if there are any issues with um and management always available for my to contact by email or phone always very helpful.

The carers that come to me are very understanding of my needs. They make me feel at ease and they treat me with respect and I feel I've still got my dignity. They talk to me the whole time they are here and we sometimes have a little joke and that makes my day. Don't know what I'd do without them.

We needed some respite care for only a week whilst the family was on holiday. The care packages were explained in detail, just needed a call in service twice a day. All went well for the week.
A further week from the 27th of October to the 1st of November has been arranged together with a weekly bathing/hair
care call of 45 minutes.
As time goes by we may consider meals to be provided to be accessed due to the capabilities of the client.
