I would like to see more female carers. Overall my care is very good. Few carers that need more training on hearing impaired and deaf clients. More training on diabetic awareness and what to do if a client has low blood sugar needs to be done. Other wise most of my carers treat me with respect, care,
dignity and are great.
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Sheffield)Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. We are so please that overall you find our service is very good. The comments you make relating to impaired hearing and diabetic awareness will be passed on to our management team. We really appreciate all feedback received (both positive and negative) to assist us with making future improvements to our services. Thanks again for your kind feedback and comments.

Horrendous!
Left my friend feeling very low and unsafe due to the lack of care and respect for him.
I am disgusted at how vile this company are and Nonto the manager was like a chocolate firegaurd.
She wouldn't even know how organise a pack of cards, never mind a business!
Avoid at all costs!
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Rotherham Central & South)Thank you for taking the time to submit your review, we take all feedback (both positive & negative) very seriously. Unfortunately we are unable to perform additional tasks which are outside of our commissioned remit and are sorry if this caused your friend to feel any distress. Whilst we acknowledge the specific needs of every individual service user, we concluded that we were not able to safely and appropriately meet the full extent of those needs within the commissioned framework provided at the time. The situation was complex and our focus remained on maintaining professionalism, safeguarding the service user's wellbeing, and ensuring staff were working within clear, safe boundaries. We are always striving to work in a genuinely person-centred way, ensuring people's preferences, dignity and choices remain at the forefront of care delivery. Please feel welcome to contact the office (or email optimocomms@optimocare.co.uk) if there are any further points you would like to discuss.

As a general rule we are very happy with the service my uncle receives from HOMECARE. He likes the young ladies coming because he says they know what to do and do it well. He says the men who come are good but they can't get down on the floor and he has to elevate his legs which is difficult for him
because of the spondylitis in his neck.
I think at one point we were having a problem because the evening call was getting too late. He doesn't like unlocking his door late at night and indeed I've told him to keep his door locked as he is vulnerable.
Reply from Elaine Bradley-Smith, Employee Engagement & Communications Officer at Choices Homecare (Barnsley)Thank you for taking the time to review us, we really appreciate your feedback and comments. We are pleased that you are generally very happy with the service received by your uncle but are sorry to hear that he at one point had a few issues with the time of the evening call - please do let us know if he has any issues in the future. Your comment around your uncle finding it difficult to raise his legs because some of the carers can't get down onto the floor has been passed on to our management team for them to take a look at for him and we will try to identify and ask for someone to get in touch soon. In the meantime please don't hesitate to contact the office on the usual local number if your uncle experiences any further issues and we will do our very best to try and help. Thanks again for the feedback received.

All the ladies and men that attend to help my dad shower are lovely and well mannered and enjoy having a 'laugh' with my dad.

The only issue we seem to have is the time that he is sometimes booked in for. I know sometimes it can't be helped when people have phoned in sick but it's not good when he

has to sit in his dressing gown till 10.30/11.00 waiting to have his shower.

I do apologise for my mum ringing up to complain about the times, they seem to forget there must be lots of people to sort.

We are so pleased that you find all staff who attend 'lovely & well mannered' but are sorry to hear that you are sometimes less happy with the visit times, your feedback is important to us and will be passed on to our management team, and someone will try to contact you to discuss these with you soon (please do contact us on the usual local number if we're unable to get in touch with you); please be assured that we will do our best to rectify any issues promptly. Thanks again for all of your comments and for your 5* rating.

So far my mum's only needed carers twice a week for showering. The carers have changed from normal routines to accommodate her needs on different days. They always ask is she needs anything else and let me know if there's any change in her condition or needs anything to make her comfortable. One carer
in particular has gone above and beyond to get her doctors appointments when she couldn't get one, made sure she had barrier spray and anything else she needs. I am very grateful to have carers who genuinely care about both me and my mother.

The carers that come to me are very understanding of my needs. They make me feel at ease and they treat me with respect and I feel I've still got my dignity. They talk to me the whole time they are here and we sometimes have a little joke and that makes my day. Don't know what I'd do without them.

Excellent service that we've had for something like a year now. Thank you to the manager who set the service up. Lovely, regular and well trained staff, so helpful to both my parents. We really have peace of mind, knowing my parents are so well cared for. Staff were so kind and helpful when my dad was
in hospital looking after my mum. Excellent service, extremely pleased. Thank you so much.

My service continues to be good. I have 2 regular carers who are highly satisfactory. When they are on holiday or days off, known carers are acceptable and efficient. Obviously better as they become familiar with service user needs.
