Carers are all polite and very caring, carers have got to know me as a person and my routine. Always helpful and ask if I need anything, they are all good characters and I really get on with everybody. Would appreciate a little more communication with the office as I like to know what is going on for
the week, but they always help me out where they can.

I expected adequate care for my aunt as she progressed to the CHC pathway, however, the team of carers show her dignity and respect, making her comfortable and going above and beyond when situations have dictated and providing sound care for her physical being as well as her emotional needs. Communicating
updates, thoughts and concerns whenever necessary to management and family members.

We are, on the whole, very satisfied with the care that my husband receives. The carers are friendly and competent and most are prepared to go the second mile in doing whatever is needed. The one criticism I have, and it isn't major, is with the timing. On occasion, our lunchtime call has been at 3
pm, which is way off to be called lunchtime. Other times, the morning call is a little later than we would like, likewise in the evening. I appreciate that it must be extremely difficult to organise, so this is just an observation, not a complaint.

After approx 18/12 experience, I can only relate to care, excluding food preparation. They are unfailingly polite and friendly and make sure that we have no extra needs before they leave. For myself, as the full-time carer, they also provide a listening ear. We both feel the Worcester office to be responsive,
and we value them highly.

Despite using Good Oaks Home Care for a very short time, my mother had a fall and is now in hospital. The carers from Good Oaks were very good, thorough, gentle and professional. The company has been very understanding under the circumstances and very supportive.

I was very lucky to find this company at short notice. I had no recommendations, so took a chance. Carers are so good at their job, and we have had lots of help from management regarding getting help from NHS, eg occupational therapy. Would definitely recommend Good Oaks Home Care.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
Good Oaks were incredibly professional, in the beginning. They talked through our requirements and came up with a plan to support my mother who needed assistance at home. We employed Good Oaks for approximately three months but had to terminate the contract due to inconsistent and inconsiderate management.
Our biggest concern for Mum was that she needed a routine and we established a regular schedule for carers to attend her at home. Very rarely did staff turn up on time or stay for the planned four hours. There were regular changes and no consistency of care which left my mother feeling very anxious and upset. The whole point of the care was to allow Mum to live a full and independent life following a traumatic head injury a few years ago. I can only say that Good Oaks left us in a worse position than when we started and I am horrified at what was provided to allegedly support a vulnerable lady. Our experience does not lead me to recommend this company to care for elderly or vulnerable adults.
Reply from Stuart Callister, Director at Severn Vale Home CareThank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you feel that our management team fell short of expectation. We provided a small team of carers to provide both a personalised and consistent level of care for your Mum. Unfortunately, prior to the conclusion of service two members of the care team decided to leave our employment. We accept that this situation was not ideal and offered alternative Home Carers that were declined. We hope that your mum is safe and well.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for Severn Vale Home Care is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 90 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Severn Vale Home Care is based on 15 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
