Jay has worked within Health and Social Care for 10+ years at the British Red Cross and now Independent Living. Here, he has held a number of posts in community care, such as Care Giver, Service Coordinator and Registered Manager and has the skills and experience needed to support those in the local community. Always striving to ensure every individual he personally – or indirectly – supports, Jay believes everybody is entitled to, and should receive the best possible standard of care and support.
Denise has worked in the care sector for over 40 years in varying roles which range from auxiliary nursing, end of life care and residential care. When she is not out in the community visiting her clients, she is happy being around her family, especially her 3 grandchildren, enjoying her holidays and going out for meals.
Denise believes that her role as a care worker is rewarding, knowing that she has made another person feel, clean, comfortable, safe and reassured is what makes the job worthwhile.
We asked Denise what she would change within the care industry if she could? ‘I would get the government to open up colleges purely to show and teach people how to provide care respectfully and properly, we should be recognised as skilled workers’
We also asked Denise, why she liked working for independent Living? ‘Being out in the community gives me independence, but I know I have support if I need it, I see the same Clients on a regular basis and I like that continuity, and so do our clients’
Debra has been part of the Independent Living team since 2023 and brings more than 10 years of valuable care experience to her role. Her expertise includes providing complex care for both adults and children.
Outside of work, Debra enjoys spending quality time with her youngest son and taking her dog on long, relaxing walks.
She truly loves every aspect of her job, finding it incredibly rewarding to help people stay safe and independent in their own homes. If she could change one thing, it would be the common misconceptions about care work, as these often make recruitment more challenging.
