Having been a teacher for over 20 years in her home country of Nigeria, making the transition to being a Support Worker for children and young people with complex needs was a lot easier for Olayinka Josephine Akintade.
Josephine joined us in 2025 and it’s safe to say she has certainly hit the ground running.
She relocated to the UK to complete her master’s degree in education and began working at school, supporting vulnerable children.
“I’ve been in education settings for many years, and even back home I was caring for people, such as my grandmother,” she says.
“I love to care for people – it has always been my thing.
“But when I was working at the school, this passion for care deepened and when I saw the job advertised at Caremark, I thought that would be a great job for me.”
Since joining Caremark, Josephine says the role has helped her grow both professionally and personally.
“This job has helped me in so many ways and it has made me even more passionate about caring for people,” she adds.
Josephine says she enjoys the variety of her role and supporting individuals with diverse needs.
“No two people are the same. Some needs are behavioural, some are clinical and I like that because it means every day is different,” she says.
“I’m still learning every day and I really enjoy what I do.”
Josephine has been struck by the care bug so greatly that she is planning to become a Nurse in the future and hasn’t ruled out doing this at Caremark if the opportunity arises in the future.
Outside of work, Josephine enjoys spending time with her husband and relaxing with films and reading,
