Over all time Bluebird Care Edinburgh has 65 reviews.
Bluebird Care was a godsend when they started with my aunt during the first lockdown in 2020. They have provided excellent service and excellent carers with some going above and beyond the call of duty for my aunt. The app was a great communication link to keep up to date with the day-to-day care notes. Having been through some difficult and challenging times, Bluebird did their utmost to keep us informed and to seek alternative solutions with staff shortages due to the Pandemic. Sadly, my aunt now needs a nursing care home solution as staying at home is no longer possible for her. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bluebird Care to anyone looking for a private care at home solution.
Thank you so much for your excellent review. This means so much to all involved in your aunt's care and your comments will be shared with them. Hoping her transition to nursing care goes just as well.
My brother was well cared for by Bluebird Agency. There was a brief spell when things didn’t work so well, but this was quickly dealt with and resolved. The carers were very caring and looked after him very well. The flat was kept very tidy and my brother always looked very smart and happy. As his health deteriorated, the carers were able to give him the support he needed. The carers also visited him in hospital, which he really appreciated.
It's much appreciated that you have taken the time to review our service. Your kind words mean so much to all the team and me. Thank you.
I have been delighted to see first-hand how friendly, attentive and unflappable the various carers are, who are looking after my elderly parent on a daily basis. Their recovery from some recent ailments is no doubt in part due to the careful and skilful work of the Bluebird carers, who also keep my parent's spirits up.
Thank you so much for your review of our service. Your kind words will be shared with all our team and mean so much during these challenging times in our sector.
Everyone I’ve dealt with at Bluebird has been warm, polite and helpful. Getting care set up for my mother was made as easy as possible, with home visits to assess her carried out sensitively. My mother has benefitted greatly from her care package. She enjoys the chat she has with the carers as much as the support they give. Every care has been taken to ensure my mother is comfortable and happy with the service.
Thank you so much for your 5-star review. This means the world to us knowing we are achieving what we set out to do in every hour of care we deliver. Delighted mum is enjoying the company of our carers. Your compliments will be shared with everyone involved.
Bluebird has great people (both carers and management) and it has been a pleasure working with them. Having the same person visit each time is important to my mum, who struggles with getting to know different people, and Bluebird has been good with this. Communications have sometimes not been as great as they could have been, but we are working on that. We all know the pressure care services are under, and I feel Bluebird are trying hard to be reliable and professional.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our services for your mum. We are delighted to hear that even during the most difficult times facing our sector we have been able to provide the continuity of care so important to her. We take on board your comments about communication and as a team,...
I have experienced Bluebird care for over two years, a lifeline for me in these has times of Covid. The physical help has been wonderful, but also the carers company is invaluable. It helped me feel a part of life, even though I am housebound. Their presence and our chats have taught me so much, especially when sharing different cultures. The times in their company can become my world, and then I realise that this is their workplace. They have a life so apart from mine. They have the gift of sharing time with me as if that too is their life! This is an invaluable gift, and so many Bluebird carers have it. Obviously, carers vary in their attention to clients' needs, some do the job which is obvious, some see beyond that and enhance the lives of their clients in many ways. There are those who go even beyond that - super carers! I thank Bluebird for sending mostly those who go beyond and some who go beyond again - the super carers. Because of that, I cope, I am happy and contented at 90-years of age.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are dedicated to continuously improving our practice, and your feedback is highly valued. We'd welcome the opportunity to discuss your score of 3/5 for management at our next review with a view to improving your opinions in this area.
I have been very happy with the care provided for my mother continuity of care is really important and she has the same carer for 3 visits most of the days. She enjoys the company and needs practical help. Bluebird Care has allowed my mother to stay at home which she really wants to do with 4 visits a day. I have been pleased that they contact me immediately if there are any issues with my mother's health and together we have worked well to look after her.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are dedicated to continuously improving our practice and your feedback is highly valued. Your comments have been passed to Mum's care team who will be thrilled at this recognition and their role in keeping Mum safe at home.
Care has been great and has given me peace of mind that my mum is having a good meal and a chat with a caring person once a day.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are dedicated to continuously improving our practice and your feedback is highly valued. Your kind words will be passed to Mum's care team.
Reliable and punctual. Carers are professional and friendly. Treating us with respect as individuals, they show genuine interest and work safely and well protected by PPE.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are dedicated to continuously improve our practice and your feedback is highly valued. Disappointing you feel that the excellent care we provide isn't value for money and we'd love to discuss this with you further.
We just started using Bluebird Care in December 2021 and have only positive comments to make. From the starting point of trying to get appropriate hours to cover mum's needs, I found the admin staff very helpful and good at keeping in touch. The carers going into mum are friendly and professional and very willing to help mum feel happy and secure. It gives me great reassurance to be told that they are there to help the family as well as doing what they can for my mum. I always appreciate the phone call to tell us if a carer is going to be a bit later in calling in because I can then keep mum informed. I would recommend Bluebird Care as a caring company and although this isn't an easy time for the care sector just now, they are working very hard to keep up high standards.

After two and a half years of mostly excellent continuity of care, for my mother, from very competent, caring carers, and very good communication, I am sad to report that in the last few months, things have been spiralling down to the point now, that communication between the office and client is practically non-existent. Times of visits are changed without consultation, by as much as twenty-five minutes; some visits are left unallocated until the very last minute, with unsuitable carers being offered, some visits I am asked to cover with my husband's help (as mum needs two people) and new carers sent to do personal care without any shadowing as to the routine or how to manage mum's dementia. This leads to a not very positive experience for mum. On the occasions of interaction with the office in the past few months, the reason given is that they are struggling to cover clients due to Covid 19; which makes me surprised that they still advertise to take on new clients.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and providing us with feedback. We take all feedback very seriously and pride ourselves in the normal excellent reviews we receive.
We’re sorry to hear that your experience is not matching your expectations. Whilst this last year has...
I have used Bluebird Care for about 5 or 6 years, mostly for housework. I find most carers friendly and willing to do what I ask. They treat me with respect. I would rate most staff as excellent but one or two are not so friendly. However, I get a host of different carers sometimes without notice of who is coming. Recently, I have had appointments cancelled at very short notice. Apparently, this is due to staff sickness. I also require a carer at a specific time once a fortnight - this is not always provided.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review our services and we apologise for falling short of the mark in providing your cleaning service. It was lovely to speak with you on the phone and we will put in place the things discussed immediately. Delighted to learn that despite your experience in...
Carers turn up reliably, on time and the agency mostly notifies changes. My main carers are superlative, a number of others are really good, efficient and compassionate. Not all meet this standard though. My hesitation is that continuity of care and a prerequisite of quality of care has been so undermined. I'm told this will be fixed but am aware that currently, hardworking staff are having to cover additional shifts to plug the gaps. That is only sustainable for so long.
Your review is extremely valuable to us, and thank you for working with our Operations Manager over the past few weeks on the issues you have raised allowing us to make our service fit your needs exactly. We have shared this with your care team and will continue to seek your feedback over the coming months. Thanks again.
My parents and now just my mother have had excellent longer-term care with Bluebird Care Edinburgh since they moved to Edinburgh in September. We have staff who are doing whole daycare for complex needs including dementia, previously terminal illness and they have also been able to support occasional overnights as well. It is good to know staff are well trained., that they are well paid for by the sector and that they are responsive to all my requests.
Thank you so much for your excellent review. This really matters to us and will be shared with the team involved in your mother's care.
Generally, the standard of care is very good. I have been more satisfied with my husband’s female carers than with his male carers. It has been difficult over the past months having a lack of continuity and consistency of one regular carer. Not all pay attention to the notes I have made, which are intended to help different carers.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such an honest, invaluable review. This really matters to us as we can see where things need some TLC in our teams. Covid has presented us with challenges due to staff having to take time out of their roles where you previously enjoyed such great...
Overall, the service has been very good, however, there have been the occasional lapses. One of them being the client visitor sheets showing un-allocated and not being advised before the time who is actually attending. Very occasionally, a carer does not show up on time or does not attend at all. There is often no contact from the office in these instances, which can cause unnecessary anxiety on our part and requires us to call the office, which should not be necessary if the person on duty was doing their job correctly.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this review and for speaking with us thereafter to discuss your comments made. It's lovely to hear how much you value and appreciate our service, but we also understand how frustrating it is when your regular carer doesn't arrive as planned and someone else...
Bluebird Care Edinburgh have been supporting my mother for more than three years. Bluebird Care Edinburgh is part of our family. The team provide care, companionship, support and peace of mind and does so throughout the very challenging times of the last year.
Your review is really important to us, so thank you for taking the time to write such lovely words about your mother's care and support. This will be shared with the team directly involved in her service.
Carers are professional, friendly and reliable. Good continuity of provision means known carers attend. Office staff are efficient, responsive and their automated electronic communication of rosters is very useful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our services. We are very pleased to hear that you mention in particular our new automated electronic rostering is working well for you. Your comments about our staff are invaluable and will be shared with the team involved with your care, thanks again.
Bluebird Care Edinburgh has been supplying care for my mother over the past eight months and I have been delighted with the standard of care that she has received. Mum's carer quickly became like one of the family whilst delivering a professional level of care. I never thought Mum would accept a live-in carer in her home as she always fiercely protected her independence and didn't want a stranger living in her home but it has worked out perfectly. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.
Thank you for your kind words about our service. This means a lot to all of the team involved in mum's care.
Having Alzheimer's, consistency and routine were important. He was able to see the same familiar faces and keep to his routine. His carers looked out for him and he enjoyed chatting to them. His Bluebird carers got to know him well and were, therefore, able to highlight when they felt he was more confused than normal, or when something didn't appear to be as it should with regard to his health. This was a major help in getting him the support that he needed. During the last few weeks of Dad's life, when his care needs were changing rapidly, I found Bluebird very responsive to our circumstances, which were changing at speed. I would recommend the company without hesitation.
Thank you so much for your very kind words on our care service for your father and our sincere condolences once again for your loss. It's incredibly gratifying that we were able to assist and be part of his life, and all the staff - especially his carers will miss him deeply.

Meet the Team (10)
Jane Perry started her home care journey with her husband, John back in 2008 when she purchased Bluebird Care Edinburgh.
Over the years, Jane has worked tirelessly to ensure she has a good team around her with the same passion for delivering high-quality, person-centric home care.
She got involved in the care sector as when she was looking for home care for her grandmother in Glasgow back in 2008, she was appalled at the lack of knowledge, services, and general attitude of the companies she contacted. This set off a ‘light bulb’ moment.
After extensive research, she chose Bluebird Care as they shared her ethos of providing a good old-fashioned service along with the ongoing support required to get her business up and running.
With Jane’s strong leadership together with her management team, she ensures that the interests and well-being of all customers and her team are met. Working with multidisciplinary teams and integrating with other leaders in the Social Care sector, Jane is as driven now as she ever was, to deliver the best, home care services possible.
Outside of work, Jane lives in the South of Edinburgh with her husband John. She loves listening to music, good food and wine, spending time with her family, and let’s not forget taking her dog (and best friend), Robbie for various walks to the woods and the beach.
John has worked in customer-facing and account management roles for over 35 years and is acutely aware of the importance of good customer service and the impact that it can have.
With John’s knowledge and experience, you’ll normally find that he’s the first point of contact when someone is looking for care for themselves or a loved one. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about providing a solution for every customer who is looking for a care package. He always takes the time to understand the customer’s needs, ensuring they have all the information required to make an informed decision about who cares for either themselves or their loved ones.
His other interests are listening to to 70s & 80’s soul music.
Geraldine joined the care sector at the age of seventeen as a Care Assistant in a private residential setting working alongside adults and children with learning disabilities. As Registered Manager, Geraldine spends her time empowering her team, and always ensuring the quality and compliance remains high. She is passionate about delivering high-quality homecare service to people within the community and is honoured to be a part of the Bluebird Care team.
Outside of work, you will find Geraldine spending time with her family, returning to Ireland as often as she can, reading and yoga.

To her, the ability to support individuals to live independently, while maintaining their dignity and comfort, is incredibly rewarding.

She recently returned from a trip of a lifetime across South East Asia.

Chelsea’s commitment to making a positive impact extends far beyond her job, as she strives to create a better world both at work and in her personal life.
When she’s not coordinating, you can find Chelsea enjoying music, exploring new food experiences, and embracing the outdoors. She values maintaining a healthy work-life balance while continuing to contribute to the wellbeing of others in everything she does.
John has worked in the care sector for over 18 years; he has worked in private, residential and care at home. His journey started as a support worker with ILS where he progressed to senior carer.
He completed his SVQ level 3 and then moved to Hansel Alliance where he worked with young adults with complex care needs. During his time here, he progressed to coordinator and later the manual handling trainer.
After that, he moved on to be a personal assistant for a young man who was nonverbal with complex autism, but he missed the training side, so he moved to Carewatch where he was training manager for 6 years.
He enjoys training because he feels he can give people the best knowledge and understanding to provide high-quality care. Learning from his experiences, he likes to laugh during training to ensure that it keeps fun to allows people to retain more.
In his spare time, he likes to play pool, and clay pigeon shooting, and he does dabble in buying and selling antiques and collectables.
