Nightingales were understanding from the very beginning. They called back when they said they would. Communication with them was excellent. Our carer was kind, discreet and helpful. The support from the nurse in their team was excellent and her professional guidance helped get my father back on his feet.
I will give you the exact 2 reasons we chose Nightingales as our live in care agency after speaking with numerous other agencies. 1. Something Nightingales doesn't advertise enough - they are a family run business founded by Sally (a nurse) ~20 years ago. Sally is still in the company doing home visits as a nurse, having passed the management to others, and was one of our main contacts. 2. It was obvious that Sally and Tim (operations guy) would do whatever was needed to create a care structure that would work for us. Sally trained our carer (Matuipi) in specific complex care needs (like oxygen management) that other agencies were adding expensive premiums to their fees for, whilst keeping to their simple fixed fee structure. I've found them the most fair of all the agencies I've dealt with.
I am SO grateful we found Sally and Tim, they found us an amazing carer (Matuipi) who took excellent care of my dad. They're the best agency I spoke to by far, I cannot sing their praises enough!
Superb caring warm person- can't find any faults.
The carers have been to my mothers liking and they are always polite and caring towards both our mother and family members.
The daily tasks and activities are carried out efficiently and nicely according to our wishes.
We were delighted to find Nightingales, we needed to get full time care in place at very short notice and Sally and Tim were amazing. We could not have asked for a kinder carer who cared for Nan until she sadly passed away. The communication was amazing and they went above and beyond to help at a very difficult time. We can not recommend them highly enough. The most important thing is Nan was treated with the upmost respect and dignity.
My carer is efficient, kind and cares a lot about me. She is very good. I can't fault her.
I have been so delighted and relieved to have found Nightingales. After receiving dreadful care from a previous agency we were considering putting my mother into a care home as we had no other experience to compare it with. Thankfully, Nightingales have been everything one would expect from live-in care. The office have excellent communication and when they say they will get something done they do it, and the carers have been just fantastic. They are committed and attentive and actively trying to help my mother recover from a brain abscess and not just sitting on their phones ignoring her. They have also been totally transparent about their costs and I love that they really look after their carers first and foremost, which shows in the level of care you receive from them. They are always suggesting ways to help my mother improve and I can finally trust and relax knowing she is being very well looked after. I would highly recommend this company!
We have received excellent support from Nightingales since my son has been in his own property and needed 24-hour care. Management and carers offer prompt responses to any concerns presented to them. Kind and considerate at all times. No complaints!
I can't praise Nightingales enough. I'm really pleased and happy with everything they do to support and help Mum. She is very complimentary about them all. The team are excellent, would definitely recommend them to anyone else requiring this service.
We were very pleased with the service we received from Nightingales. Once we'd had a couple of visits from Mum's new carer-to-be, Mum felt more relaxed with her. We were also supported with a visit from the clinical lead to assess Mum's needs and along with the carer who was going to be looking after Mum. We felt that Mum was being looked after very well, and the carer was gentle but very attentive to Mum's needs and we felt happy that Mum was in her care while we were away. What was fantastic was that it enabled us to have a holiday together as sisters, which we'd not been able to do for the last couple of years as either one of us is looking after Mum. So Nightingales' support was invaluable. We also have a weekly day visit from another wonderful member of their team and we rate her highly too. Thank you Nightingales and your team.
All the carers are very attentive to Mum and extremely kind and patient.
Wonderful people providing a wonderful service.
Thank you.
From the first meeting the care and support we have received is first class. The carer we have is wonderful, so kind and caring.
I've been with many agencies and Nightingales Golden Care is by far the best I've been with. They listen, they are kind and if I need something adapted to my care plan they don't have a problem with doing it for me. I'm treated like a human. A lot of carers find it difficult to get off the devices and adjust from previous placement. They are lovely because they take the time to get to know me and listen to me and don't just disregard my feelings and give up on me, that's one of the things I like about them, they treat me like a friend and a client because she gives me advice and helps me when I'm feeling sad. I appreciate that where a lot of my previous agencies would not give two hoots and see the pain I've been through, she looks at the positive in me, not the negative I would recommend Nightingales to any clients that need help and assistance.
The experience is good so far, it's only been a couple of weeks.
Excellent service. Felt supported from start to finish. Sam and her team helped so much by always being one step ahead and always making sure my mum was supported. Can’t recommend enough. A big thank you for all your kindness.
Excellent service and level of care. Mum looked after wonderfully. So friendly and caring.
Very supportive and caring. I would recommend your services to anyone who needs help.
However, I have not found the office/support staff to be of such a high standard and often have felt them to be lacking.
Thank you for your feedback both positive and constructive. We are pleased to hear our carers provided a great service, carer interactions are the most important part of our service and so I'm glad to hear you could not fault them. We hold ourselves to high standards and so do apologise that all of...
Nightingales Golden Care have been providing live-in care for Mum for the past 7 months following her stroke last year. I cannot praise Mum's carer enough for the exemplary care that she provides for her every single day. She goes above and beyond in all her care for her and is absolutely amazing. I have peace of mind knowing that Mum is being looked after so well and knowing that all her needs and wishes are being put first. Nothing is too much trouble for her carer and I feel happy knowing that Mum feels safe, reassured and comfortable at all times under her supervision and care. All the staff at Nightingales are so friendly and helpful. They really do care about all their clients. Their care, support and attention it has made it possible for Mum to stay in her own home, which means so much to her and all the family.
Excellent service. Reliable, friendly and hard-working. Ensuring my wife is as comfortable and healthy as possible.

Meet the Team (6)
Hi everyone, my name is Sally, and I am the Clinical Lead here at Nightingales Golden Care.
Most staff will probably recognise me as the lady in the blue scrubs. I like to get out about doing welfare checks and to help to establish new care packages and monitor that they are working well. Staff will probably hear from me when updating their competencies in areas such as Medication, Moving & Handling, and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC).
I really enjoy working here at Nightingales, and I’m proud of the staff that we have and the difference we make to people’s lives through our work. Assisting people to stay at home for longer, enabling them to live in the way they want to and ensuring those at the end of their lives have everything they need.
Other than my three children and my 8 grandchildren, who I love very much, setting up Nightingales back in 2002 is the thing I am most proud of. It’s been through a lot of changes over the years, and I am proud of my son Ben and the way he manages it. Working with him has been a highlight of my career.
I’ve been working in care for more than 45 years and have trained as a Registered Nurse and a midwife and have a BSC in disability studies. Over the years, I have worked in hospitals, care homes and the community in many different roles and have enjoyed the variety of experiences that working in care can bring. I love being able to do enriching activities with service users, such as swimming with a lady with Cerebral palsy, cooking with a client with dementia, or riding bikes with a terminally ill man.
I grew up in a family of nurses, and I have been working in the care industry since my first role as a community carer when I was 16.
I went to University and specialised in Recruitment and Human Resource Management, eventually gaining my Registered Manager Qualification when I became the manager of Nightingale's Golden Care in 2009.
I'm very proud of the awards we have won whilst I have been the manager, including my own award of the 'Home Care Manager of the Year Award' at the Great British Care Awards in 2014, as well as awards for other staff members such as the 'Carer of the Year' at the Hampshire Care Awards, and our Clinical Lead winning several awards throughout her time with us.
I'm also proud of our achievements in being named in the Top 20 Most Recommended Care Agencies in the South East for 4 years in a row.
In my spare time I enjoy running marathons, and attending Pompey games with my 2 boys.
Hi everyone, my name is Dan, and I am the Accounts and Payroll Manager here at Nightingales Golden Care. My main role within the organisation is to maintain the accounts, invoicing, and payroll. I also have the unofficial title of 'IT Support', which mainly consists of asking people if they’ve tried turning it off and on again!
In my spare time, I like relaxing in front of a good game, going to the gym and paddle-boarding despite nearly drowning myself a number of times.
I’ve been with the company since 2007, and in that time, I have progressed through a range of roles from Coordinator, Operations Manager, and to my current role as Accounts and Payroll Manager. This has given me unique insights into the many dimensions of care provision, enabling me to continually refine our processes. I’m also the go-to man if anyone needs an all-singing, all-dancing spreadsheet!
I’m very proud to work for Nightingales, as part of an excellent management team from all walks of life. Together, we’ve overcome a range of challenges within the industry and continue to push Nightingales forward to deliver a five-star service.
The most memorable moment from my time here was when there was water leaking through the office ceiling. Within a matter of minutes of noticing a small drip, the ceiling and lights came crashing down around us whilst we were grabbing all the paperwork and equipment we could. It was that day we truly learnt the importance of cloud storage.
Hi, I'm Charlotte, the Engagement Manager for Nightingale's Golden Care. Like Ben, I also grew up in a family of nurses (it was the same family, I'm his sister)!
I have been working in Health and Social Care since I began my nurse training in 2001.
I love working here because I have seen the family business grow and evolve, and I enjoy working to improve the quality of service it provides.
Staff will usually hear from me when I am responding to their alerts or issues, or during their regular supervisions.
I know how hard the staff work at Nightingales and how difficult the role can be. I’m always trying to understand what the challenges are to see if we can make things run a bit smoother.
I gained the nickname ‘textbooks’ for studying random subjects, and also have a Degree in Nursing, a Master's in Medical Ethics and Law, and a Diploma in Human Physiology and Health.
My husband Tim joined Nightingale's Golden Care as Operations Manager in June 2025, and so our kitchen table often serves as a secondary office space.
In my free time, I like to do very uncool things like knit and crochet and take pictures of my dog and cat. I have three girls and therefore spend a huge amount of my life doing washing.
Hi, I'm Tim. I'm the Operations Manager for Nightingale's Golden Care.
I grew up in a very large family, and both of my parents were doctors. I've been married to Charlotte since 2008 and have watched the family business grow before bringing my skills learned from working in newspaper journalism for 10 years, and in engagement for local authorities for over 15 years.
I really enjoy working with people to help to make their sometimes challenging lives easier, and love learning about the histories of the many families we help to look after.
Outside of work, I love football and support my local team, Portsmouth. I enjoy long dog walks along the South Downs. I also love music, history, board games, and a good podcast.
Hi, I'm Colette, and I have been working in the care industry on and off since I was 16. I started working for Nightingale's Golden Care in 2019. My knack for organising quickly made me an invaluable member of the team.
I am always very proud to say I work for Nightingales, as the standards of this company are so high, and I have never worked in a company where its heart is so firmly in the right place.
Although my official title is Administrative Assistant, my non-official title should be “anything I can help with?” as my role has evolved over the years from mainly scanning, archiving and stuffing envelopes, to manning the phones, dealing with queries about the services we provide at Nightingales, fielding sales calls, and generally pointing people in the right direction.
I cover basic admin tasks such as recording and tracking annual leave, and try to keep everyone informed and up to date on any minor changes (the little things matter). I also liaise with other professionals, such as GPs and Social Services on behalf of staff and service users, which means I can spend a lot of time listening to “on hold” music! If carers or service users are not sure about who they need to talk to or how to complete any task or have a question about pretty much anything, I am always happy to help.
It’s a stressful industry a lot of the time, and people can be under a lot of pressure, but when you are privileged to be part of people’s personal lives, there is always room to celebrate the good things and have a giggle.
