Belong at Home have provided an excellent care package for our father over the last three years, which has enabled him to live independently. Their visits have not only involved day-to-day physical care, but also emotional support that has shown empathy, patience and an awareness of our father's needs.
Their communication with the immediate family has been outstanding. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done for our father.

Belong at Home Macclesfield gave valuable assistance to my parents for many years and when my mother died two years ago, they immediately increased their care to look after my father who suffers from dementia. The care given is of the highest standard. The staff are professional and above all very caring.
It is a testament to their high standards that they continued to provide excellent service during the pandemic.

Professional, reliable and caring.
I was very undecided in the present situation, about asking for help with my husband who has dementia and mobility problems. However, I feel reassured and 'safe' by the PPE used, and it is good for my husband to see, to laugh and share a joke with someone other than
just myself.

I, and my parents, cannot thank Belong at Home Macclesfield enough for all their help, kindness and support over the years, and especially over the last extremely difficult months.
Management and Carers have gone way above and beyond the call of duty! Their calm, professional, caring approach gives
them the reputation they truly deserve. They are friends, as well as carers, to us all!
The colossal amount of behind the scenes work they have put in, liaising with the teams of professionals working alongside my parents (occupational therapists, physiotherapists etc) has really paid off, and must have taken a tremendous amount of time and energy, which they have just got on with.
We could not have managed to keep mum and dad at home, and out of hospital, without them.
May I also just mention their diligence to health and safety, for staff and clients. Wearing masks, visors, aprons, gloves and following strict protocols has really paid off. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Belong stepped in quickly and efficiently when my father came out of hospital. We had named carers so we knew who to expect and this helped to provide continuity of care as well as a familiar face under the mask. The carer went beyond the call of duty to provide a surprise meal for Dad. I felt reassured
that everything was in hand with other jobs done in the house ie bins out, washing done etc. It was the quiet efficiency that impressed me the most plus excellent service. They also have a flexible time provision. I can thoroughly recommend them, plus it eases the transfer to a Belong care home if needed.

‘Belong at Home’ have given a first class service over the 8 months that Mum has been receiving care visits from them. We are all extremely grateful for everything their lovely staff have done for her over this time - there is absolutely no doubt that their support played a very big part in allowing
her to settle in quickly and feel comfortable and happy at Belong after a move of 500 miles! It has been really heart-warming for us to watch her confidence return and see all the improvements in both her physical and mental well-being.
Mum has said how much she has enjoyed getting to know everyone and especially the carers she has seen most regularly as she feels they have become like friends. For my part I have really appreciated their adaptability and ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude plus also feel that the 6-monthly review offers a very useful opportunity to make any adjustments. I would definitely recommend them for their professionalism, friendliness and level of care.

My mother-in-law has recently left the hospital after treatment for a fall in her flat and as a result, has needed extra care visits.
This was arranged quickly and efficiently by the Belong at Home staff, and she is getting first-class regular visits, which are important in this current climate.
The personal care given by your visiting staff is second to none, and she looks forward to every home visit.

Mum started to use Belong at Home when living independently at home became difficult for her. We researched various care options and feel that in terms of Mum’s care using Belong at Home Macclesfield was the best decision Mum and we made.
Care from the team was outstanding. Carers were trained to
a high standard and carried out their duties and personal care to the same high standard. They were kind, compassionate, caring, communicative, supportive and would go the ‘extra mile’ in ensuring Mum was comfortable and content. Any problems were dealt with not only as they arose, but also anticipated and built into changes in Mum’s care plan. Mum, and we as family, were involved and engaged in reviews of her care. Mum looked forward to visits from her carers, feeling comfortable with them to the point where she felt able to share her particular wit and sense of humour, which was appreciated by all.

I found Belong at Home to be a professional, caring service provider. They understood the support my father needed and identified issues I had not thought about, this not only helped my father but me as well. They provided caring and understanding support and left clear comments on the service provided
at each visit, this reduced my worry and related stress. I also found that communication between us was excellent ensuring the best service and outcome for my father and myself. I would have no hesitation in recommending their service.

Belong at Home has provided twice daily care for my mother who has dementia and poor mobility, for the last 10 months. She also attends Belong for lunch and a bath once a week and is collected and returned home. The care provided is excellent. My mother is very happy with the service provided at home
and the caring supportive nature of her carers. It has enabled her to stay comfortably, happily and safely at home. She also really enjoys her weekly outing to the centre. The carers liaise well with the family and I am kept very well informed. There is very good continuity of care. I cannot recommend them too highly.

I cannot recommend Belong at Home highly enough.
Throughout the time they have provided care for my mother, they have approached it in a professional, caring and collaborative manner. The staff are friendly caring and very switched on to my mother's needs. The management has proven to be very focused
and flexible in their approach, even when the Local Authority has made life difficult for all concerned, resulting in a gold service for my mum and the family.
Belong go out of their way to treat my mother with dignity and respect, recognising that a bespoke service is often called for in dementia patients. Their continued support has enabled my mother to remain in her own home, whilst still being in a safe and familiar environment; alleviating pressure and worry from us, as a family, knowing that she is in safe hands.
I would wholeheartedly recommend their services.

Belong at Home Macclesfield have provided care for my mother in law for several months now, and as a family, we have been very pleased with this organisation. Care has been consistently excellent, and any concerns (which have been few, and only minor) have been addressed promptly and efficiently. My
mother in law is forgetful, so it is particularly helpful that the same carer visits her whenever possible, and the number of different carers has been minimal. We find the carers empathetic and patient. The office works well and usually responds quickly to any queries and requests.

Mum's carers are a life saver. They have given me back my mother-daughter relationship and taken so much worry off my shoulders and peace of mind that mum is well cared for. They always make sure she is well groomed and well turned out taking so much care with her clothes. They go above and beyond in
carrying out their duties, talking to mum all the time, laughing and involving her in all the day to day decisions. Can't thank them enough.

I would like to share my experiences with the wonderful services provided by Belong in Macclesfield.


My mum has some mobility challenges, which she finds frustrating, but loves to go out and about when she can. I work full time and can't devote the time I would like to and wanted to find a caring,

reliable and trustworthy company who could provide additional support.


The team were wonderful and advised me on all the service they could provide. They offer a full range of activities and support, which are tailored to each individual’s requirement. In Mum's case, she has carers who take her shopping or on outings on a weekly basis but may do more in the future.


Mum has more confidence and independence; the carers are so friendly and supportive. I love to hear Mum tell me where they have been and how much she enjoys their company.


For me, it has provided safe, friendly and trustworthy support for us both. I feel that I am helping Mum to live a fuller life with this additional support.

It was difficult to persuade my dad to have any help in the house after his wife died. Dad was 90 years old but very independent and didn't want strangers in his house. The agency tried to find him a suitable carer when he finally agreed to a little help. They found someone who Dad got on really well
with. She was great at organising his shopping, making his lunches and even ironing his sheets! She was good at everything and Dad thought the world of her. He really looked forward to her visit. Without this help, dad would not have been able to stay in his own home. Many thanks.

My father and I are very satisfied with the care he is receiving. The girls who come to the house are all friendly and helpful. They usually have time for a quick chat with Dad as well as doing all the chores. The office staff are very accommodating and will re-arrange services if I need to take Dad
to the doctor or we go out for a family meal.

Karen Burgess

Job Title: Area Manager

Qualifications: NVQ levels 2, 3 & 5 in health and social care.


Experience: Karen has worked in the care sector for 29 years starting as a Support Worker in a dementia unit. After 2 years, Karen took up a position as a Community Support Worker for Social Services working with vulnerable adults in the community. In 2009 she worked as a Senior for the Reablement team within Social Services assisting vulnerable adults to aim towards independence sourcing care and support when required. After 21 years with Social Services, Karen joined Belong at Home as a Community Support Worker quickly rising to Senior and in 2016 she became the Registered Manager for Belong at Home.

Andrew

Andrew Shield

Job Title: Head of Operations (Belong at Home)

Andy is a highly motivated and caring member of the Belong at Home team and its longest-standing colleague, having been appointed as its first community support worker when the service was launched in 2009.


Andy embodies Belong values and has worked across the various Belong at Home regions to support local teams through various challenging periods. He has been instrumental in developing the service to its current level and is committed to taking it to the next level, both in terms of business growth and closer integration with the villages to ensure our services operate in a complementary manner. He is loved and admired by customers and colleagues alike, working closely with his care team and also with other managers, providing support to all who need it. As Head of Operations (Belong at Home), Andrew maintains his focus on the customer, leading by example and showing his usual determination to ensure that clients receive person-centred support from a team in which he is personally invested. Andrew is a great example of someone who lives and breathes the organisation’s ethos, values and culture, and instils these into both his team and other managers. He is a truly inspirational individual.

Rachael

Rachael Sharp

Job Title: Practice Development Facilitator

Rachael is an outstanding trainer who has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 29 years.


She started with Cheshire County Council in domiciliary care in 1996 and then joined CLS in 1997, where she worked as a Care Assistant and Care Team Leader before progressing to a Care Manager.


Recognising her passion for mentoring and developing others, she made the move to training company, Total People, where she worked for 15 years as a Training Advisor/Assessor/IQA supporting learners through various Health and Social Care qualifications at L2/3/5.


In 2017, she was appointed Practice Development Facilitator for Belong at Home, with responsibility for the professional development of our community support workers across all regions.

Elaine brings a wealth of care sector experience to her role as Senior Enquiry Manager for Belong at Home and, above all, carries it out with enormous empathy and compassion.


She has supported the expansion of Belong’s home care service since 2016, providing advice, information and guidance to people seeking support in their own homes.


Prior to that she worked as Enquiry Manager for CLS Care Services for a number of years, applying her previous extensive experience as a frontline carer to bear in her ability to support enquirers through the process of finding the right care setting, as well as supporting managers to promote their care services effectively.


Elaine’s caring qualities have been honed over a long career in the care sector, which she first joined in 1988, holding a variety of roles, including Care Assistant, Activity Co-ordinator and Team Leader, before working as a highly effective Registered Home Manager for 15 years.
