Our family's experience with Optima Health and Social Care has been appalling. When you trust a care provider with your disabled child's life, you expect reliability, professionalism, proper training and communication. In our experience, Optima has fallen desperately short.
For years, we have felt as though we have been expected to act as the contingency plan whenever the company fails to provide the care our son needs. We experienced repeated uncovered shifts, including 19 uncovered night shifts in one month The situation became so unsustainable that we were forced to have our son admitted into hospital care because the necessary care at home could not be reliably provided. This was not a choice our family should ever have been forced to make.
I would urge other families to ask direct questions about staffing cover, staff training, safeguarding, escalation procedures and what happens when shifts cannot be filled before placing their trust here.
Yet gaps have happened, albeit not as severe as you describe: applicants declined, staff suspended after concerns, and departures...
We're truly sorry you feel our 7 years of service has fallen short. Please know we have tried our absolute best, through real staffing and recruitment challenges.Yet gaps have happened, albeit not as severe as you describe: applicants declined, staff suspended after concerns, and departures linked to your family dynamics - all beyond what we alone can resolve.
We take our safeguarding duties seriously; we recognise this process may have led to counter-claims, further affecting team stability.
We deeply regret you've had to step in during staff absences. Over 19 years running this service, we've seen that shared support works best - and this is also the expectation of our commissioners - LAs and NHS.
We have poured all our care and effort into getting this right, but sadly, it has not been possible to meet your expectations or leave you satisfied. We truly wish things could be different, and we genuinely hope your new provider will get it right for you

For the past seven years, Optima Health has repeatedly failed to provide our son with the reliable, safe and consistent care he desperately needs. Missed and uncovered shifts have repeatedly left me responsible for providing his complex, life-sustaining care, often at the expense of my own health, sleep and wellbeing.
These failures have affected our son's education, safety, emotional wellbeing and quality of life. Serious safeguarding concerns have also arisen regarding staff conduct and training.
The impact on our entire family has been devastating. I have repeatedly been left to pick up the pieces of a care package that is supposed to support us, leaving me exhausted, distressed and struggling to meet the needs of all three of my children. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
