We have one excellent male carer. At times he has swapped with someone else. When I made a very strong complaint this was corrected.
Excellent response to all my needs from Home Instead Senior Care.
I cannot speak too highly of this organisation. All personnel have treated me with kindness and respect and to my delight, the ideal caregiver was selected for me. We have shared interests and I look on her as a friend. The client journal is very comprehensive with plenty of information included for the caregiver's benefit concerning relevant medical conditions.
Hardworking carers, couldn't ask for more. The staff at the office need to get the timing right though for the carers that have to travel from client to client. They need extra time to travel like for example. From Hazlegrove to Glossop can take approximately 45 mins and not 15 minutes. Traffic can get heavy.
The office is not consistent with providing clear instructions to the girl that comes around, I have asked that I book visits myself.
Thank you for you comments, I understand that following the Service Review and recent Quality Assurance visit, your scheduling issues has now been resolved
Our Mum was supported at home by Home Instead High Peak for a number of months. Despite grave illness and living alone, she remained cheerful and optimistic and we attribute this to the quality of care provided by the carers. The compassion shown not only to Mum but to her family was outstanding and we are truly grateful. The professionalism was commented on repeatedly by other outside agencies involved in Mum's care. Home Instead actively sought information from all concerned in order to ensure that they were offering all that they could. The family were informed were informed at all stages of development which was invaluable as we all lived some distance away.
Their carers and office staff are excellent at giving advice and seeking help for us when needed.
Home Instead, High Peak's competence is well displayed when they notice problems and they help me deal with this problems.
Looking after my 88-year-old mother with dementia has been the most challenging and difficult roles of my life and I simply couldn't have got through it without the help of the wonderful carers and admin staff from Home Instead who always did their utmost to provide the care we need as it's changed over time.
We have a carer one afternoon a week for 2 or 3 hours.
Our carer is male and undertakes activities with my husband - painting, walking, exercises etc.
We have been very happy with his caring attitude.
Home Instead has been very efficient - noting all needs - medication, where to find essential services in the house etc.
All in all, it gives me peace of mind when I pursue my own activities.
The young women carers are excellent - friendly, helpful, thoughtful and I enjoy their company. Office organisation a bit erratic eg. Schedules often late and times sometimes inconvenient. Carers often struggle to meet appointments with traffic holdups. Not enough leeway for roadworks etc.
Their staff were confident in their role and caring whilst helping my husband who was terminally ill. They were able to supply services at short notice when another care service was not available. Apart from comments on zero hour contracts, the staff spoke well of their management team.
3/4 months into using this care provider started with one exclusive carer which worked very well, but require more service so introduced a second carer and this was equally successful.
The carer arrived on time, looking smart and professional. He was friendly and asked after the client's health and my own. My husband was helped out of bed and was able to walk to the shower room. After showering and hair wash the carers attended to the leg bag changing wet straps for dry and dressing him. This was followed by a wet shave. He was then escorted into the kitchen for breakfast. The carers then returned to bedroom and shower room and left it tidy. He hoovered round for me and asked if there was rubbish to take out. He left on time.
The carer has built relationships with us as a family, as well as the care home staff and members at church. My mother has benefitted enormously from the consistency, positivity, and empathy of this carer. We are extremely grateful to Home Instead and in particular to my mother's carer, for the huge difference this arrangement has made to my mother's well-being and thus to our peace of mind.
Thanks for all the excellent care you've arranged for mum - her routine shopping service, sitting with her or accompanying her or my dad to hospital, and helping us out in emergency situations. With no family members living near, it's been a great relief to know we can call on your many services to help. Thank you.
My Mother died in November 2015 just three months short of her 98th birthday, she popped her clogs in the local hospital after a brief illness, she was pretty compos mentis till the end. Fifteen years ago she asked my opinion on the idea of installing a stair lift, I said I thought it a very good idea as stairs eventually tend to "get" little old ladies and put them in hospital.
My Mother really liked her visits, she was well cared for, she was a great story teller and loved playing to the back gallery audience that the carers provided.
When we used to ask her how life was going on with her carers I seem to remember her say that "she could not have been more happier".
I believe that Home Instead extended Mum's final years significantly and were stimulating for her. It is a pity though, that we didn't get her to write this review before she passed away as she would most certainly have had a very positive opinion on her care and certainly an anecdote or two. My Mother had a good "innings" and was happy to the end and I cannot recommend Home Instead too much.

Often, when I visit someone or their family to perform a Care Assessment, I am told that they have found themselves “…lying awake at night worrying about who will care for them or their loved one.” At Home Instead High Peak we want to eliminate those niggling late night worries. When I meet you to structure your Care Plan, I listen carefully to what you need, what you want, what you worry about, and how you identify your desire to remain in your own home. My job, my goal, and my challenge, is to make certain that all the uncertainties are cleared up so you can make the right informed choices. It’s important that you never lose sleep over worries about how you are going to live and enjoy day to day routines and pleasures.
