I wanted to write this to share our incredible experience with Bluebird Care. My dear mum was terminally ill and living with us and Bluebird came in during her final weeks to help with her care which enabled me to get back to work and support the rest of my family. The wonderful Bluebird ladies as my mum called them were so kind, caring and respectful with my mum and huge support for our family. They would go above and beyond. My mum enjoyed seeing them and they were so very lovely to her which helped me feel that she was in good hands when I was not able to be there. My mum passed away and this has been hugely painful but she really did have the best level of care and I will be forever grateful to these amazing women who have such compassion. I can't recommend them enough!
A very friendly, caring and thoughtful company. Nothing is too much trouble and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Reliable, punctual and helpful. The Bluebird carers will assist me in any way. I will always use Bluebird Care.
Bluebird is very good at what they do and supply/service. They are always on time, and if they are held up, they ring a let you know. They respect my father's dignity and make him feel safe. He has last stages of dementia, but they all still talk to him and encourage. I can't fault them and would recommend them to anybody looking for care.
In that time her health, mobility and Dementia worsened.
Great attention was given to her care to keep her safe and happy - little things like how she liked her cup of tea.
She was shown the greatest of respect at all times.
The company gave us (the family) a good sense of security to know that they would be visiting twice a day to keep an eye on mum.
Even in the worse snowfall, they arranged for a local carer to pop in on mum and make sure she was OK.
6 carers came to mum's 90th birthday party in their own time and about 10 carers came to mum's funeral!
I have no hesitation in recommending them - they have been kind, caring and supportive.
I wanted someone to become "me" for a few hours in the week whilst I was away on holiday with my grandchildren- that was exactly what we got- somebody who was supportive, interested and "good" with my mother.
My 87 year old father who lived alone had been diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2015 and in early May 2016 had to stay in a hospice to control pain relief, and it was recommended to me by the staff at the hospice to get a care plan in place for his return home. With only a few days notice, I went on the recommendation and chose 'Bluebird Care'. They were extremely professional, very understanding of the difficult circumstances and helpful to our families requirements at that time. We only used the agency for a few weeks before my father again had to go into the hospice and then onto a nursing home for 24/7 medical care. I would definitely recommend 'Bluebird Care'.
Care agency provided consistent, professional care from management as well as from all staff deployed to our home. Every member of staff was warm, friendly and empathetic and went the "extra mile" on every shift. Our cousin felt her needs were not met and our family home remained a family home even though we had a lot of carers in and out- they were totally respectful of our "space" as well as our cousins. Always smartly dressed and adhered to the codes of practice in place. Trustworthy, honest and excellent time keepers. Thank you.
Excellent service and contact throughout the entire process from initial contact, meeting and setting up the care needed for my mother. Consistent attendance from carers each week has enabled the development of confidence and understanding and understanding of needs. Mum actually now looks forward to the conversation and exchanges.
The agency has been very accommodating, catering to mum's needs for companionship and minor household tasks as well as for personal care. The time of visits are also flexible to suit her and what she is doing.
Staff are polite, smart and friendly. They treat mum with kindness and respect and make her feel valued as a person. We are very happy with the care we are receiving.
I really appreciated every stage of the process of helping Dad with these guys. It is a bit confusing and the ladies help steer my wife and I in the right direction to set up care for Dad so he could recover and stay at home. He's loved it to be honest, he has made great friends of his ladies who are very good to him. They really are lovely and caring. 10/10
My present situation is that the amount of help needed is minimal - largely only cleaning. My age- 88- indicates that I will obviously need increasing amounts of help in the future. However the lady who does this cleaning weekly is very satisfactory in every aspect.

Alexander is a retired Infantry Officer of the British Army where he served tours in both Bosnia and Afghanistan. Having left the army, he completed a Master’s business degree and worked in London for a national energy company. Alexander has spent a lot of his spare time fundraising and organising events to raise money and awareness for the ‘British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association’, BLESMA.
Alexander enjoys surfing on Bantham Beach and is an avid photographer and is also occasionally seen accompanying Emma on his 1965 BSA Bantam ‘Tom’ when the mood takes his bike.
Emma originally hails from Ireland, but after deciding to do a Master’s degree in business and the environment in London, she first fell in love with a Boy and soon after with Devon. After various management positions she was excited at the prospect of trying to effect real change in the care industry. She wanted to improve how the sector was viewed, how people within the industry were valued and since 2012 her and Alexander (said Boy) have been trying to do just this, along with raising their three children.
Emma is passionate about providing the highest level of service to each customer and firmly believes in the importance of local working.
In her spare time, Emma likes to take her 1955 BSA Bantam D1 ‘Peggy’ out on the road to explore the countryside. She loves walks on the beach with their two dogs and occasionally braves a surf although will more often than not be seen in the white wash close to the shore.
I am very proud to be the operations manager of Bluebird Care Torbay, Plymouth and South Hams. I joined the team as Registered Manager in 2018, but in 2020 took over the role of Operations Manager. Since that time, I have supported the team to go from strength to strength. Both Plymouth Torbay and Live in services were rated Outstanding, which is the best accolade that we could receive as a marker of both our success and the quality of the support we provide to our customers.
I have over 30 years of experience working in the health and social care field, and I remain registered with the Healthcare Professional Council as a Social Worker. I have worked in social service departments and the NHS for a large part of my career.
Carol joined the team as a Locality Manager in Feb 2018, having spent the previous ten years managing a multi-site operation delivering a service to the elderly across Devon.
In Nov 2018, the Live-in Care Manager position became available and Carol was excited to step into this role and begin developing the service.
As the Live-in Care Manager, it is Carol’s responsibility to deliver support packages that enable her customers to live safely & independently in their own homes for as long as possible. She communicates with her customers, family members and health professionals daily, she leads by providing support & guidance to a team of dedicated carers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the people in our community.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family & friends and taking long walks on the beach with her husband and dog Reggie.
Dawn joined the Bluebird Care team in 2019 but has worked in the Care Industry since 2006. She has progressively worked her way to the position of Registered Manager after completing her NVQ Level 5 Health and Social Care Qualification. The fact that she has worked as a care assistant and graduated from community to office within the same sector gives her an empathetic view throughout.
In her spare time, you will find Dawn across the South West, at cat shows, where she will be gaining Championship titles for her privileged felines or walking with her other animal love, her gorgeous springer spaniel Bailey. When she finally sits down, she loves a good book.
Nina is a live-in care manager, supporting the live-in service in Plymouth, South Hams, Totnes and Torbay.
Georgia worked in a pub before joining us at Bluebird Care in 2020. Georgia initially joined as a care assistant before joining the office team in November 2023 as our Care Coordinator, which is a role she enjoys and has gone from strength to strength in. Georgia is currently working towards gaining her NVQ level 3 Qualification in Health and Social Care. As Care Coordinator, Georgia has the often time challenging role of marrying customer needs to care assistant availability whilst always watching continuity – it is quite a game of chess!
In Georgia’s spare time, you will find her snuggling her two dogs, Reggie and Sushi, especially after a night out enjoyed with friends.
Kerry joined the live-in team as a Field care supervisor, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the NHS.
Kerrie has many years of experience as a support worker and joined us recently.
Helen joined Bluebird as a care worker in 2015 and was promoted to field supervisor in March 2021. Helen's role is to provide contingency care cover, monitor and mentor care workers in the field, and support the functioning of the office. Helen is in charge of the customer sparkles alongside Julia.
Helen's passion outside of work is her dogs.
Holly joined Bluebird Care in 2024. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge within the care industry, having worked in both domiciliary and residential settings for 14 years. Holly has gained her NVQ level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, and throughout her career has had a strong focus on dementia. Holly worked predominantly in a care home setting, which allowed her to work closely with people living with dementia. She learned first-hand the challenges people with dementia symptoms and their caregivers face, and from this found ways to improve the quality of someone living with these symptoms.
Holly has also worked closely with the various dementia teams throughout Plymouth, who contribute to the stages of progression from diagnosis to end of life and has learned the science behind this syndrome and what medications are used to slow down the effects. She has successfully completed the train-the-trainer course in dementia care and has also had the privilege of completing the End of Life Course with St. Luke's Hospice to improve the experiences of all involved with end of life and the knowledge around it.
Lisa joined our team in 2023 but has worked in care since 2005, working in domiciliary care, as an agency carer and then in a mental health care home, which she really enjoyed. After doing this for many years, Lisa wanted a challenge and moved to being a health and social care assessor. During this time, Lisa supported care staff to gain their care certificates, and level 2, 3 and 4 diplomas.
As enjoyable as this was, Lisa did miss the care side of the sector. This is when Lisa decided to make the move to Bluebird Care, and has since not looked back. Lisa is very family-oriented and has four grown children and one granddaughter. Lisa loves to spend time with her family and walking her two cockapoos, Stanley and Reggie.
