Our family has been incredibly grateful to Home Instead for the help and care they have provided to our parents (92 and 88) these past few months. My sister and I both live in London and our parents are in Ormskirk and have had a very difficult year. We were so impressed by the speed with which Sharon was able to visit us to set up a care package and put it into practice, and by the empathy and kindness shown towards the whole family. My parents have settled into their new routine and grown very fond of the new faces in their life. They are now getting the additional support they need both practically and emotionally. There have been a few occasions when we've needed to increase the number of visits during some difficult weeks and each time we've reached out to Sharon and the team they have responded with such willingness, flexibility, and compassion. The peace of mind it's given to me and my sister is invaluable. All the carers have been absolutely wonderful - so patient and kind!
I found the service very satisfactory, everything was taken in to account, and I feel they were very attentive to every need and all the idiosyncrasies of the individual , I was very content at what was a stressfull time that the care was covered and will definitely be calling on them again for future services
Home Instead provided the very best professional care and support for my late Mum. Her carers treated her with kindness and respect, she quickly came to know them, liked them and trusted them completely as did I. I will always be grateful for their help, it was a pleasure to deal with everyone from Home Instead West Lancs
The agency responds immediately to any calls made regarding changes made to daily routines, putting Mum's welfare a priority. I would have no issues in recommending the agency to others.
My husband and I can not thank our main carers enough. They have been a great big help, and they treat my husband with dignity and that matters, so thank you and keep up the good work.
Most of the carers are lovely, always ready for a laugh and always treat you with dignity.
I am very grateful to Home Instead West Lancashire for the care and support provided for my wife during the last two years of her life. Home Instead cared for her with dignity and respect, with positive and thoughtful staff who were well trained and confident in their work. Staff listened to my wife's requests and responded appropriately and communicated well, with both my wife and myself on all occasions. They were able to give advice and extra support when asked and their flexible approach was welcomed.
I had two ladies over a four week period for housekeeping duties, after having a total knee op. They were both pleasant and efficient in all the tasks I asked them to carry out. Their presence was a help and comfort in what was a challenging time. I would not hesitate to use this company again if I ever find the need to do so, also I would recommend this company to anyone looking for homecare. Thank you everyone in Home Instead (West Lancashire & Chorley) I wish you every success in the future.
The carers do what it says on the tin - they care! We are fortunate that we currently receive NHS funding but I do book respite calls most weeks. Price rises are for in excess is income and seems hand to justify.
We are proud to have been your dedicated care and support provider for over two years, following the disappointingly low support you had previously experienced, from other NHS providers. If you're happy, we will contact you separately as part of our continuous improvement process, to discuss this...
My husband required care after I broke my wrist badly in October. I cannot fault the level of care provided by the two carers to start with and latterly by one carer. Nothing was too much trouble and my husband was treated with total respect. I would not hesitate to use them in the future.
The girls are absolutely fabulous and go above and beyond.
Mum feels so safe and relaxed and looks forward to their visit.
My sister works for a health center and has recommended Home Instead to her patients.
Look forward to our future with Home Instead.
Home Instead West Lancashire has been providing carers for my mum for over a year now. All carers are kind and empathetic, the team works hard to ensure a good match and is responsive to evolving needs. A professional and caring service provider.
Caring for an elderly family member is not easy, it's a journey with many ups and downs and one that can cause stress and tension for family members. So it was a huge relief to find such an excellent partner to support our family in caring for Dad, moreover, a partner who shared our values and has shown Dad the same care and respect that we do.
Home Instead have been unbelievably responsive to our developing care support needs and service changes as we balance the care provided by the family with that from Home Instead. All the caregivers who have attended to Dad have been excellent. The interaction of such quality people with Dad have given him a boost and improved his well-being.
From management to carers, everyone is friendly, caring, considerate, efficient and well trained.
Always here on time.
What an outstanding care home provider. Work with the family to ensure the support provided meets the client's needs. Very responsive to any changes and I knew my relative was safe in their care. Not one missed visit in six years and always attended to my loved one promptly. Caring people who are well trained and work to ensure caregivers are matched to the client. I and my loved one are grateful for all the care provided.
Very positive experience with Home Instead. Initial enquiries were dealt with promptly and in a very friendly way. This was followed up with an in-depth consultation at home to assess client needs, which was handled sensitively and with empathy. Carers were then engaged and they have been very good, clients (parents) are very happy.
Suggested improvement; as one hour visit of two people is not always needed, allow for 30 or 45 minute visits of one to two care professionals to improve value for money.
Initially Mum was reluctant to have carers looking after her but the Home Instead carers took the time to earn her trust and form a relationship in which she felt safe, valued as an individual and respected as a person. She soon started to look forward to visits and thought they were wonderful. The time spent caring for Mum's needs was always on time and never rushed. We had an app that updated us and the Home Instead wider team after each visit. When Mum's health took a turn for the worse they acted immediately to adjust her care package and to advise and support us access all the support available for Mum from the NHS. This was invaluable.
It was truly a holistic care package that was provided by Home Instead, second to none and we have no hesitation in saying Mum had the very best care we could have wished for in the final weeks of her life. Thank you to everyone from us all.
Mum is happy with the way things are.
We feel comfortable with the care received for my father.
We were promised a small team of carers so Dad would build up a rapport with them, this hasn't happened. There are many carers, most are great but some are less so. He prefers two of them in particular.
Many thanks for your positive review. I will personally ensure that your comments are passed on to our relevant care professionals. With regards to care professional numbers visiting your loved one, given the current frequency, as discussed, numbers will remain pretty similar to what your loved one...

Meet the Team (8)
Having previously held senior executive positions in the UK logistics industry and Central Government, Robert decided to combine his transferable business skills gained across the private and public sectors with those skills of his wife Gail, whose professional care career commenced as an NHS nurse at Ormskirk Hospital over thirty years ago.
Commenting on the formation of Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley, Robert said: "Both Gail and I share a common desire to become an established part of the local West Lancashire care community, changing the face of ageing, and becoming the provider of choice by delivering the highest possible quality care services to adults and older people in their own homes."
Gail has both professional and personal experience of care in the local community and has also sadly experienced first-hand the difficult and near-impossible challenges many families have faced when service providers have failed to deliver even the most basic levels of dignity and care.
Training locally in Lancashire as a nurse, Gail has over thirty years of experience in the health care service, primarily within the NHS as a clinician and senior manager. Gail has a managed and incredible work-life balance, gaining an impressive portfolio of qualifications including attaining a BSc (Hons) in Professional Health Studies.
Gail goes on to say "In 2010, both Robert and I researched the local options and possibilities with the intent of opening our own new care company. We are determined to make a difference locally, offering high-quality care services that are based around tailored care plans, respect and dignity."
Before working in adult social care, Dawn worked in the fashion industry. The job satisfaction Dawn now has is non-comparable because of each client she has met throughout her journey. Dawn started with Home Instead in 2017 as a care professional delivering excellent care to all clients. Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley recognised Dawn’s passion, her attention to detail and how important practising safely was to her. She was soon promoted to our Quality Compliance Officer. This role ensures the care we deliver is to a high standard, but most importantly, she ensures we practice safely. Dawn completes regular audits which enables her to monitor each client and care professional closely to ensure we are providing the best care possible.
Dawn manages our virtual ward, a system we have developed for any clients who require additional monitoring due to changes in their well-being. This system is designed to avoid hospital admission, monitor any health deterioration that would involve other healthcare professionals and most importantly, keep our clients at home for longer.
“It is a privilege to work for Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley as a member of the key player team. I am proud to say each day is full of achievements, through overseeing the excellent care we provide, supporting our clients and care professionals, ensuring our clients’ needs are met, promoting their independence and being someone they can turn to are what makes my role such an honour.”

Working as the Finance Officer for Home Instead West Lancashire & Chorley, Ruth has a strong background in finance including; bookkeeping, payroll and accounts, and consistently providing a most valuable service to our wonderful clients, their families and our team.

Liam first joined us in February 2020. Having originally joined us via a placement opportunity thanks to our partnership with Edge Hill University. At the time, he was acting as our Social Media and Website Content Administrator for several months before this officially turned into a part-time role. Doing this whilst continuing with his University Studies.
After achieving his qualification in Business & Management, he then decided to continue his studies further, completing a Master's and graduating with a degree in Marketing & Branding Communications. As such, we were very happy to announce in November 2023, Liam has brought the skills and knowledge she gained at University, to Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley as our full-time Digital Transformation Officer. Helping to increase the overall presence we have across the online and digital landscape.
“My role at Home Instead allows me to help the business grow in the digital world. Monitoring, creating, and posting content to the various social media platforms we have accounts on. Furthermore, I also look to see what other media avenues are available for us to increase our reach in the local community. Whilst highlighting all the good that we do with events and stories."
