I have been pleased with the care my father has received from Home Instead during the last 18 months. The care givers have generally been cheerful and very professional in all their dealings with my father, who, because of his dementia is not always easy to care for. I have been able to continue to work knowing someone will be making lunch and spending time with my father when I can't be there.
Home instead do their best to keep care givers consistent so that my father gets to know them and trust them which means he will let them help him with things like bathing, something he doesn't even want me to help with.
When my father's care package started he was still able to go out more and the care givers would take him into the village for lunch at a cafe, or for fish and chips, something I know he enjoyed very much.
It is important to me and my family that we care for Dad at home and I wouldn't be able to do that without Home Instead.
There have been occasional hiccoughs, for example when a care giver is ill, but in general Home Instead sort the problem as quickly as possible and will even send out senior managers to do the lunch or whatever is required.
If a new care giver starts work then they are always introduced to me as well as my father beforehand so that I know exactly who is coming and going each day.
