Overall Experience

Home Instead provided exactly the care and support we needed during the final weeks of mam's life. The manager was excellent: caring, responsive and very professional. We had a smile, a devoted team of carers who provided exceptional care in difficult circumstances. What was very important to us was that it was always the same small group of staff with whom we could build a close and trusting relationship. Their dedication was outstanding. The manager set the standard, and the staff team showed compassion and a desire to do the very best they could in caring for our mother. We could not have asked for more.

Overall Experience

I have only been with this provider for a month but I am very pleased that I chose them. I have been allocated two carers who are professional and caring, with lovely personalities. On their first visit they were introduced to me by the manager, which was very helpful. Every visit starts at exactly the time I requested, which is very important to me. This consistency of both carers and visit times is a great support to me.

Overall Experience
During the 3 years I've lived up here in Darlington, I've used
1. This service, it is expensive but on the whole a very good quality there as in all these services there are a few not what is needed.
2. The price has risen. They added in the mileage costs, and it's also in the hours visited, part of an hour is deducted as travel. A 50-minute 'hour' for 'help', I did try managing on only 3 visits a week, but after a recent hospital visit and my health giving no more problems, are had to increase my help.

3. I hear from other residents who use other agencies that are just as good and much more reasonable.

Overall Experience

My sister had care from Home Instead for over 3 years before going into residential care recently. The care was always first class, with the same care professional for most of that time. She continued to support my sister over the transition period from living at home to settling into residential care. The office team were always extremely helpful, supporting the family as a whole, not just the client, and responding quickly to any issues that arose. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Overall Experience

My mum was reluctant to accept help from a care professional, but after careful introduction with the care manager of Home Instead, she is very happy. The care professional has been matched carefully to my mum's needs, personality and even grew up in the area where my mum lives, so they have a lot in common and have become friends very quickly. The care professional is very efficient and happy to do whatever she is asked to do. We have just had a review of the service provision after only two months, and great care is taken to make sure mum's care plan continues to meet her needs.

After time in hospital and a lengthy period in respite after a fall we needed a care package to suit my mum's lack of mobility needs fairly quickly when she returned home.
After a phone call to the Darlington Management Team, we were immediately put at ease and felt that Mum would be in safe hands after voicing our concerns that she had been very independent and would be reluctant to accept outside help.
The carers were in place within a week of Mum's homecoming which was exactly as promised.
The team are lovely all very caring and professional and above all treat Mum with dignity. They take an active interest in Mum's well-being and have a lot of laughs with her along the way.
Members of the Management team have undertaken roles as carers for Mum which has impressed us too.
All have helped her through a difficult period of necessary change and we are grateful for the support they have shown my brother and I too.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead Darlington!

In September 2023 I commissioned Home Instead (Darlington Branch) to support my mother for an interim period pending relocation, in January 2024, to an extra care apartment located much nearer to me. Both Mum and myself were immediately impressed by the branch manager who proved to be alert, bright, perceptive, empathetic and professional. The manager dispelled all the concerns we had about employing carers. The three carers the manager matched to my mother all bonded rapidly with mum and were compassionate, warm and capable in caring for her. Mum wished the team could have relocated with her! I have no reservations in recommending the Home Instead Darlington branch.

We are pleased we chose Home Instead. The hour-long care and same carer provide continuity and unhurried help. My husband regards his carers as friends and I know he is in safe hands if I need to pop out.

Double cost on bank holidays can be a problem so we tend not to use carers on these days.

Overall Experience

I knew I would need some help after my operation as I wasn't to lift anything for 8 weeks. I was so lucky to choose Home Instead. The care that has been provided has been excellent and also a great help to my husband, in his 80s with a bad heart. I look forward to my carer coming in the morning to help me get up and shower. Having my hair dried was an added bonus. Some of the carers in particular were extra caring and thoughtful and very hardworking.

Approximately 3/4 years ago after seeing a TV advert for Home Instead I decided that this company was offering exactly what my husband needed. He had suffered strokes and had a very bad swallowing problem. I rang Home Instead for an appointment and a very professional lady came and assessed what was needed and was able to give staff extra remaining if required. The caregivers who came were all compassionate, caring, professional and proficient in their work. They all looked after my husband in an exemplary way. Since my husband died all the lovely people now look after me for which I am truly grateful.

Overall Experience

We have been using Home Instead for nearly a year now since Mum passed away and Dad has dementia, they paired him with a gentleman who visits twice a week and they have a really good bond together, he is like a friend to my dad now. Nothing is too much for them they will go shopping, pop to the chemist or just sit and have a coffee and a chat if that’s what my dad wants that day. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for home care or company.

I feel truly blessed to have been given the information leaflet about home instead which led to the care that I am now receiving.
My experience with Home Instead carers and admin staff is that they have become like friends or family. Presently I would not be able to face each day without their smiles and care. Older age has many challenges and my carers adapt easily as my life changes. In these uncertain times worldwide I count my blessings and Home Instead is one of them.

So far we are very happy with the standard of care given and any concerns have been addressed immediately by the manager.

We feel that the manager is always available to listen to us and improve the service delivered in order to provide a bespoke care package.

Overall Experience

I have used this service for over a year now and have received excellent service. My helper is very supportive and willing to help out in lots of ways shopping, ironing and cleaning. I have spent a lot of time in the hospital this year and she has been a great help, cleaning cupboards etc. which I can no longer do myself.

My sister has been using the service of Home Instead (Darlington & Northallerton) since December 2021 and the weekly one hour visit has been very successful. The company over this time have been very reliable. My sister has no complaints and looks forward to seeing Home Instead's member of staff we are always kept advised if that is to be a change to the carer, who my sister has always met previously through an introduction with those who attend regularly.

Overall Experience
Have used the Home Instead (Darlington & Northallerton) service for my elderly parents for the past three months. The initial contact and assessment was excellent. Quickly identified needs in a caring and efficient manner. Managed staff turn around effectively during early days in order to ensure the correct cover and help.

Service is currently extremely good while maintaining the continuity of high standards in all areas. The current level of help and additional future needs are reviewed with empathy and understanding. Highly recommend to maintain dignity and care in own home.

Overall Experience

An opportunity arose for my mother to be able to go out for the day much earlier than normal. After a brief conversation Home Instead acted quickly and positively and rearranged her care visit so that mum could have her day out. Home Instead have an open-access, professional and creative response to the changing care needs of my mum.
