I really cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Personal Choice Carers at Home.
The service and care they give is outstanding from the moment I phoned to see what care they can provide I knew straight away they were the ones for my amazing mother in law.

We never got a carer we didn’t know and always made my mother in law feel at ease you really can’t get any better care than Personal Choice thank you all so much, we will forever be grateful for the care and compassion you gave her.

I cannot speak highly enough of the service, care, nurture, competence, experience, empathy, and the feeling of reassurance and safety that the team at Personal Choice gives to those in their care and for the family of the person receiving their care. They go out of their way to develop relationships with those that they care for and the family, to establish a strong foundation of trust. I'm so pleased and relieved that I was recommended to them.

Where to start really. I did my research on care companies and the manager and her team came up time and time again on our local Facebook. I phoned her to sound her out and instantly she put me at ease and I knew she was the right person. Although we only got the chance to use her for a short time, just words cannot express how grateful we were to have found her. Every carer that came in was fabulous and very attentive to our friend. Communication was excellent with a Whatsapp group to keep in touch, we could ask questions or if we had queries then we just had to ask. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them and they worked with us every step of the way. Our friend deserved the best care and she certainly got that with the manager and her team, they are almost like family. I will definitely be recommending her and if you’re looking for a proper company to give dignity in old age and respect to your loved ones then please just give them a call you won’t regret it. Thanks again.

The girls at Personal Choice are completely and utterly amazing. Their dedication to their clients, their humour, their patience is second to none. They treated my Mum and Dad with such respect and kindness and without them, I do not know how I would have coped. They would sing along with my parents if that was what was needed at the time, they would cajole and encourage with a laugh and a joke when Mum and Dad were being difficult- always with a smile. The manager even hunted Mum down when she had wandered off and got herself onto a bus. When the time came that they felt residential care was needed they treated me with such compassion and care and reassured me that it was the right thing for me to do despite the heartbreak I felt. I highly recommend them. Mum and Dad came to love their company and I thank them with everything I have for the dignity and compassion they showered my parents with over the year that they supported them. Thank you, ladies, you are all wonderful.

My elderly friend started using Personal Choice in January 2020. My friend is extremely happy with the service she receives. All the ladies are very nice, friendly, chatty and genuinely care. They are completely trustworthy and always go the extra mile. They inform me if they feel my friend is unwell on a call and keep me updated on her medication, etc. They have waited with her for ambulances to arrive and arranged calls at the last minute to meet her at home if she has been in hospital. My friend always looks forward to and enjoys her calls. We highly recommend Personal Choice.

Personal Choice Carers at Home are an excellent agency and it gives me great peace of mind that the carers who look after my mother do actually care!
They have gone beyond the call of duty many times in the care of my mother!
A few examples are staying with her when there was a flood in the house and phoning the paramedics when she was feeling unwell, which subsequently turned out to be a major heart attack.

I know my mother is in good hands and would highly recommend the agency!

After my unhappy experience with the carers arranged by the hospital following my stroke in 2016, my daughter looked on the internet and found Personal Choice and arranged a meeting with the manager who made me feel confident after speaking to them about my care. They have been coming to me since August 2017 and I have found the team of ladies friendly, personal and efficient and they have given my husband confidence to fit in any appointments or shopping while they are here.

I came to live in Wickford 3 years ago so I did not know Wickford at all or anybody. I was in a cafe having a cuppa and a lady sat with me, I got chatting to her and she told me about Personal Choice and how good they were. So I got in touch with them to look after my husband who had a bad stroke and Parkinson's disease. I don't know how I would manage without them, they are everything to me. They look after my husband but even if I'm not well they keep an eye on me, how good is that!!

I was very worried about choosing a Care Agency for my Dad but am extremely pleased with Personal Choice. The Manager is very easy to work with and all the ladies I have met are lovely. They really care about Dad and always let me know of any concerns they have and we work things out together. Even going so far as to help look for him if he goes missing. It's a small company and therefore very personal. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We felt that we were so fortunate to have found Personal Choice, the manager and her amazing team. They had been caring for my Mum over the past four years until she sadly passed away recently. Personal Choice far exceeded our expectations of just how committed a caring agency could be. I think one of the key factors is they are a small team unlike some of the larger agencies, therefore, they all got to know Mum so well and became Mum's friend and companion. They went beyond what were normal daily duties. The whole team was caring kind and gentle. The manager was very informative if there were any concerns that she felt we should be aware of. Personal Choice is a professional small team of dedicated devoted ladies. If you are looking for carers feel assured that Personal Choice will indeed care for your loved one in the same manner as you would yourself. It gave us peace of mind that Mum was always in safe hands. In my opinion, there was no better agency we could have chosen for Mum's care.

After years of terrible care companies, we were so lucky to find Personal Choice Carers, who have cared for my mother for the last two years and I can honestly say that the care they provided was outstanding. Not only were all the carers trained to the highest standards but they were all the kindest, most compassionate people. They were not only carers for Mum but became her friends and she looked forward to seeing them every day. They did so much more than their job and they genuinely cared so much. Not only were these lovely ladies wonderful to my Mum but they were so supportive to us as a family and made us feel that we could relax knowing how well cared for Mum was. I cannot recommend these carers enough as they really would go above and beyond the call of duty and did just that on many occasions. My mum passed away on 29th June and these carers shared our grief and were so kind and supportive to us as a family.

Wonderful people who we will always be so very grateful to.

Management and staff really do care for and understand what is required and I believe on occasions go beyond their call of duty which is greatly appreciated. Communication is paramount in the care of the service user and this is exemplary between carer to carer/management and me.

I first contacted Personal Choice Carers at Home as my Dad was looking for some help with his evening meal as his eyesight was very poor.

I'm so glad that I had their help because as Dads health has deteriorated they have always been there to help him keep his independence, and have been a constant help and support to me too. Sadly Dad passed away earlier this year but I know that having the manageress and her team around, helped to make his last months comfortable and worry-free. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for truly kind and compassionate care.

We wish to thank you all for making our lives a little more bearable and taking brilliant care of our Mum. As you know, when Mum returned from a hospital late May 2016 she required care four times per day, was bedridden and only given a few weeks. Your care team were truly amazing, not just our Mum but for Dad too. You treated Mum with such dignity and would have conversations and bring laughter to their home. You went beyond the call of duty. After two months, Mum was able to walk with physiotherapy but through your encouragement also. Mum really loved seeing you all. You took time to help, listen and chat with Mum and with us all, like an extended family. As you know, Mum sadly passed late October 2017. Mum had wonderful angels taking care of her and we're truly grateful for your time, effort and professionalism allowing us extra time to spend with our dear Mum, we'll be forever grateful. Thank you also for keeping in touch, it means a lot to us all.

I'm finding it hard how to put into words how wonderful the staff are at Personal Choice Carers at Home. They looked after my nan who had dementia with such care, understanding and love. After looking after my mum, who had Multiple Sclerosis and after many talks and discussions with Caroline (who at the time had cared for my mum), I decided to move forward to setting up our own care company. I felt that this way, Mum could get the care she needed, deserved and had been unable to receive elsewhere. With Caroline by my side, Personal Choice Carers at Home was born in 2013.
At present, we have a team of 17 lovely carers, which is growing, and we look after some wonderful people.
We have also met and worked with some lovely people over the years, and each one individually has a special place in our hearts. Some of the carers that joined us have moved on to further their careers, and others due to life changes, but we never forget the support they gave us and the joy they brought to the people they helped care for. Each one of them has brought their special qualities to help make the company what it is today.
Every day is different, the passion and love that we have for our work has grown, and we are very proud of our little company. I don’t think we ever expected it to grow as much as it has, but the good thing is that we keep our ethics and morals to what they were at the beginning.
Each Service User has their care plan tailored to suit their needs and requirements. We always want to ensure that we keep the personal touch.
I feel that the families we have met, the service users we visit and of course all of the Carers who have worked alongside us, have all become a part of an extended family.

Mum is no longer with us, but it gives us comfort to know that her Legacy of helping others will always be with us x

I have been working in care now for over 20 years and love the work I do. It isn’t an easy profession at times and can be very hard, but it is extremely rewarding.

I met Liz whilst looking after her mum at a time in my life when I felt that I wanted a little more. After many talks and long discussions, in 2013, Personal Choice Carers at Home was established.

We started, just Liz and I, visiting a couple of service users, but then it seemed that word got around, and we were getting more work; we soon found ourselves employing our own members of staff.

The rest is history, really. All these years later, we have an amazing team of 17, and we all work together to keep everything consistent in all of our calls.

We pride ourselves on our work and make every effort to ensure that all our Service Users are comfortable and happy with our Service. We chose the name Personal Choice because we really make every effort to tailor our services to our service users’ needs.

After many years of working full-time and managing in retail, I had two beautiful boys. I changed from full-time to part-time to try and fit my working life around them.

After listening to a radio show one day, I started to think more and more about changing my Career and going into care. I’d heard on this show that some Carers used to “step over the post” on their way into their Service users' houses because they “didn’t have time” to pick it up and hand it to the lovely people they were looking after!

There were other things mentioned on the show, and I couldn’t believe how a service that was meant to be looking after people and caring, really wasn’t meeting the mark. It played on my mind!!!

One day, in the school playground, I was talking to one of the other mums. She was telling me about her sister-in-law, who had recently started her own care company because the care her mother had been receiving was not as attentive as she felt it could be.

She gave me her sister-in-law's phone number, and I gave her a call!!

The sister-in-law was Liz, and that’s how I met up with her and Caroline!

After talking for a while and explaining I’d never done professional caring, we all decided that we would give each other a go!!

That was THIRTEEN YEARS ago!

I love my job. I love the people I help care for, and I get on well with the rest of the team.

Not only am I fully trained now, but I have also obtained my NVQ 2 certificate and my NVQ 3.

One of the main things I love about my job is knowing that I am making a difference in people's lives at really difficult times in their lives. We are all one big happy family and treat our Service Users in the way that we would all want our parents to be treated. With respect and dignity.

I started working in Care in 2004, where I met Caroline, working for a 'big' care company. Looking for a change, Caroline introduced me to Liz, and I joined Personal Choice Carers at Home.

I loved the way all Service Users' care plans were person-centred, and all looked after so well. I just kept thinking this is how all Service Users should be cared for.

I joined Personal Choice Carers at Home in 2014 and haven't looked back. I thoroughly love my job, and have great friendships with everyone I work with x

I’ve always been in a job and loved working. I’ve tried everything over the years, but never really knew what I wanted to do.

In 2016, I saw a job vacancy for Personal Choice Carers at Home. I applied and was invited along for an interview. I got the job. Soon, all my training was completed, and I was out and about in the community.

It’s great that we care for people in their own homes, and as all of us carers are based in and around Wickford, it’s lovely as there is always someone about if we need any assistance.

I love the fact that we give our service users their independence wherever possible. All their care packages are different so that they suit the individuals’ needs.

I’m always keeping up to date with my training, which helps because it’s always good to have extra knowledge about everyone’s conditions.

I’ve never looked for another job since I’ve worked here.

I have met some lovely people over the years, and it’s been a pleasure getting to know them and their families.

I love hearing their stories about their history and lives.

I’m so happy in my work, and it’s so lovely knowing I help make such a difference in our Service Users’ lives.

After having my second child, I started looking for another job that I could fit around my family life.

After working as a hairdresser for 16 years, I left to have my two beautiful children. I spent many happy times with them growing up, and when they had both started at school full-time, I decided, being a very active person, that I needed to do more with myself.

I started to look at jobs and came across an advert on Facebook from a company called Personal Choice Carers at Home, they were looking for Carers in the Community and were based locally in Wickford.

I had a little chat with myself and thought, "Yes, I could do that" It sounded like something I would enjoy. I'm a happy, caring and fun-loving person, and I love to make people happy. I have always been a natural when it comes to helping and understanding someone who may be unhappy or have difficulties, and I have always been told that one of my qualities is that I am able to lift people up when they are down. So... I applied for the job.

On the day of the interview, I was so nervous. Everyone thinks I'm full of confidence because I am often found in the middle of crowds, but deep down, that isn't always the truth.

I went to meet Liz and Caroline, and immediately they made me feel at ease.

I came out of the interview with a big smile on my face. I had been offered the job. Shortly after, I started my training and then, once qualified, I was out doing a job that I've grown to love.

Eight years on and I'm still here. Every day is different and sometimes can be a challenge. But to this day, I'm still happy with my decision. My hours fit perfectly around my kids and my family, and I feel so fulfilled in my work.

After leaving school, I went into hairdressing and enjoyed 28 years working in the same salon. Unfortunately, they ceased trading, and at the same time, my personal circumstances changed. This made me rethink my career options.

My daughter had recently started caring for Personal Choice Care at Home and was coming home from work excited and telling me all about it. It sounded like something I could do. I’m so comfortable working with people and love to help if I can.

I contacted Liz and Caroline, and soon I began my training. I qualified a little over 3 years ago now, and I have been working full-time since and haven’t looked back.

I absolutely love my job and find it so rewarding!

I’ve worked at Personal Choice Carers at Home since 2022, and I’ve loved every single moment. I joined after leaving school feeling unsure about what I wanted to do, but it didn’t take long for me to realise that caring is exactly what I’m meant to do.

Personal Choice really does feel like my second family. I absolutely love my job and what I do. Being able to go into each service user’s home and help them feel safe, comfortable, and happy is so rewarding. I love chatting with them, hearing about their lives, and listening to all the amazing stories they have to share. I’ve grown so much as a person because of the people I work with and care for.

Alongside my role at Personal Choice, I also work at Broomfield Hospital as a Healthcare Assistant. I’m learning so many new things every day and gaining skills and confidence, which I really enjoy bringing back into my community care work to support service users in the best way possible.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my friends and family, going on holiday, and keeping active with running and exercise.

Helping them inspired me to go back into the care industry, and after some amazing years spent with them, I decided to look for a job. This is when I found Personal Choice carers at home.

From the very moment I started working with these lovely ladies, I instantly felt at home. Everyone takes such pride in their work and truly puts in their best efforts to support and care for our service users.

We have such great communication and work so well with each other as a team. I have never been happier in a work environment.

I feel like all our team and service users are one big family.

After beginning my nursing degree at university, I was keen to find a role that would complement both my studies and my family life. Although I had limited experience in care at the time, I approached the opportunity with an open mind and a genuine desire to learn. From the very start, I discovered how rewarding care work can be, and it quickly became something I truly enjoy.

I feel very fortunate to work alongside such a supportive team, and to care for such lovely service users, who make every day meaningful and fulfilling. Being able to make a positive difference in people’s lives is something I take great pride in, and I continue to grow and develop my skills through both my work and my studies.

I have been working for Personal Choice Carers for over a year now and have never looked back. I already had a background in care and rehabilitation, which I loved, and before that, I worked in a hospital. One of my roles there was setting up all the allied health professions so they had a bank team within the hospital to save on agency costs. I asked to shadow them, and it was from that point that I knew I wanted to work closely with people. I found my purpose, I thrive on helping others, caring for others and empowering them to see their potential and live their best lives.

It was very quickly, when I started working for Personal Choice Carers, that I knew I had made the right choice. I love how they run things, I love how they care, and that really shone through. The managers are so supportive, and always look after the staff, they care so much about the service users. I feel at home being a part of such an amazing team. We all work well together and our service users are always our priority.

Every day, we are constantly learning so we can provide the highest quality of care to our lovely service users. I like to bring a little sunshine to everyone's day and try to treat people as I would like to be treated.

I first got to know Personal Choice Carers when they started looking after my mum, who was living with Dementia. From the very beginning, the care team felt like they were family. They were kind, patient, and always went the extra mile to make sure my mum was comfortable and happy.

Their support made such a big difference to our lives that I decided I wanted to be part of that same caring team.

I've now been working with Personal Choice for about six months, and it's been such a rewarding experience. Everyone on the team is thoroughly trained and truly dedicated to the people we care for.

I'm learning more every day, from both my colleagues and the amazing Service Users we support. It means a lot to be able to give back to help others to feel safe, supported, and valued just like they did for my mum x
