Right at home is the second care company my wife has been with in the last 3 years and I can only say they have been a godsend, they are always on time, the carers themselves are all very nice people that always go that extra mile, It doesn't feel when they arrive that they are only doing it for the money, it feels like they are part of the family.
Let me give you an example the first care company we were with for 7 years in that time we didn't know any difference and thought it was pretty normal to have issues. For example weekends always an issue and some evenings, i.e. late arrival times, no communication.
The only reason we stayed because of 2 very nice ladys came only 4 mornings a week.
Sadly evenings and weekend late calls became more frequent and it was getting very stressful so we eventually had to leave them.

Thats when Right at Home was introduced and I could not believe the consistency always precise from day one with there time and excellent care, total game changer.

The two main carers we currently have for our son are excellent. They are very thorough in attending to his personal care needs from the morning washing and dressing and through the day helping him drink and feed properly. They are also supportive in helping him participate in and enjoy his activities. They give him time to formulate and speak his thoughts and their positive attitudes makes him feel good when he has achieved something. They can also brighten up the whole family's day!

Our communication with the Right at Home office is good and they have been very responsive to any changes we have requested.

My wife and I needed respite care for my mother while we went on holiday. The carer from Right at Home stayed with her for 2 weeks. Mum and the carer got on very well and Mum was very happy. There were no issues at all, and we had a very tranquil holiday. mum's carer also went above and beyond in keeping the house clean and tidy. It was much cleaner and tidier when we got back than when we left. We will certainly be going back to Right at Home for further respite care in the future

My mother has carers every morning to help wash and dress her. She also has occasional companionship care when I have to attend meetings. Right at Home carers are always attentive to Mum's needs, chat with her whilst washing and dressing her or when keeping her company when I am away. They are professional and caring in their approach. The carers regularly check in case of any changes to Mum's medication or routine. We are very happy with the standard of care.

Dad has been frail since May 24, gradually declining. Since December he's been pallliative with recurring chest infections and a directive not to go to hospital so I manage his care from home. It's highly stressful. The carers have always been amazing but since December, and especially this February and March when he's been very ill, they have been utterly incredible. So kind, so efficient, so knowledgeable and well trained. It's great having consistency in carers, because I can relax knowing he's being looked after, and can go out for a walk or worry less if I am stuck in traffic. Many of them will go the extra mile, and will let me know if they think something needs attention, either to make Dad more comfortable or what might be a medical issue, like confusion, bed sore, ordering more incontinence pads. The manager and the office staff have been exceptionally helpful too when I've needed to change the schedule or ask for help. Thank you Right at Home. You're a godsend.

The care is not the best as things are not being done as they should be all the time some do more than others but it also doesn't help when the client is saying they don't need anything done obviously that is going to hinder the carer's job - but for instance, like showering once the client says I've had one nothing is checked to prove so and I know for a fact that it is not happening but it doesn't matter now as the client will no longer be using your service as they are moving homes shortly out of your catchment area.

Joe Guishard Job Title: Managing Director
Joe Guishard

Hello, I am Joe Guishard – the owner of Right at Home Cardiff and Newport. I am very proud of being the first Right at Home provider of care to the seniors in the Welsh Principality. I was born in Cardiff and have lived here all my life, so it gives me a feeling of great pride that I can now offer a service to the community that has helped look after me.

Prior to opening this company, I was a serving police officer for 6 years, wearing out shoe leather in Cardiff. On my “off duty” days, I spent many hours supporting my elderly grandparents in a multitude of areas. These include practical tasks such as gardening and cooking, but also engaging in long fascinating conversations with my grandma about the ‘good old days’.

I knew should they want care in their own homes, later on in life where family or loved ones were not able to help, then I would want them to have the quality of care that they deserve.

I came to realise that by opening Right at Home in Cardiff and Newport I would be able to offer this quality care, and also ensure that other seniors or vulnerable adults looking for similar quality services could rely on me and my company.

Holly Jones Job Title: Director of Care Joined: 2022
Holly Jones

Hi, my name is Holly, I have worked in care for almost ten years, starting my care journey with Right At Home when I was in university studying Education. I began as a carer and progressed through the company, firstly as admin then co-ordinator, to Registered Manager.

I left for a short time after having my daughter, to work in another domiciliary care agency as their Networking Officer, before now returning to my roots with Right At Home.

I have two young children – a son and a daughter, so when I am not at work I am generally chasing them around, stopping the baby from dribbling on the toddler or stopping the toddler from throwing things at the baby. When I am not wrestling with the children, I prefer to spend my time outdoors, walking with my dog, relaxing in the garden with a book, or trying and failing to grow things in my allotment.

I working in the care industry because I want to make a difference! I enjoy meeting people and doing what I can to ensure they have the best day possible.

I am really excited to be back as part of the Right At Home team, and I am looking forward to catching up with those I have worked with previously and getting to know the staff I have not met yet.

My journey with Right at Home Cardiff and Newport began almost 12 years ago, when the business first started. I joined as a caregiver and fulfilled this role for a number of years. My time as a carer helped me grow as a person and provided me with the opportunity to meet some wonderful people, with whom I developed lovely friendships with.

During my time with the company I have undertaken multiple roles, including Moving and Handling Trainer and Business Development Manager.

After returning from my maternity leave, I decided to step away from my role as a BDM, due to not being able to commit to the position fulltime. I am currently working as a Finance Assistant, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Over the years, my skills and knowledge have been enhanced greatly. It has been such a privilege, and I am truly grateful and so fortunate to work for such a wonderful company.
