Right at Home Havant

Since leaving Cardiff University almost 30 years ago I have spent most of my working life in the healthcare industry, initially working as a GP drug rep in the Portsmouth area, then I went on to head up a sales team for a government-owned blood plasma company. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my time working for and with the NHS, I came to realise that I wanted the opportunity to personally make a difference and to give something back to society.

I grew up in a small Surrey village, the son of a GP and a Practice Nurse, where the surgery was attached to the home. The emphasis on care and support in the community was ever-present and I learnt from watching my parents how you can make a massive difference in people’s lives by offering your time and assistance.

I also witnessed first hand the demise of my Aunt who lived with Alzheimer’s disease at a relatively young age and was saddened at her rapid decline. By helping to raise awareness and offering good quality support I believe we can improve the quality of lives and hopefully slow the deterioration whilst we search for a cure. I am proud that since we set up over 5 years ago my care team and I have managed to raise £1000s for the Alzheimer’s Society through fundraising activities such as sponsored walks, running and cake selling too!

Some of our best moments since we opened our doors 5 years ago was being awarded the prestigious rating of Outstanding from the Care Quality Commission, an accolade that is awarded to just a few care providers. This was a fantastic achievement and a testament to the amazing work our team does. Running a high-quality care business that delivers in excess of 1,000 hours of care per week, every week can be challenging especially during the pandemic but its made possible when surrounded by a fantastic team and it’s enormously rewarding too. Every day I feel truly blessed to be doing something I love with special people around me.

My name is Nicola Haggar and I am the Registered Manager for Right at Home Havant.
I have worked in care for over 30 years and can honestly say that I really enjoy it, every day is different, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I started as a carer in the local authority, before becoming a trainer for the local authority and then progressing to a Registered Manager. I have been with Right at Home for nearly 3 years now and recognise what a wonderful and diverse team I manage. I strive hard to ensure that all our clients are valued and treated with respect as well and receive excellent care as standard.

I joined RAH in 2017 as a CareGiver. All the training is top-notch and relevant to every angle of the work. With the team providing practical support and complete encouragement I strive to provide the best care I can.
Supporting people to live in their own homes can give rise to some challenging situations. The reward in being able to make a positive difference to my clients' lives is immeasurable.

Hello. I’m Monica Jackman. I joined Right at Home Havant in June 2019. I returned to care work about a few years away for a career change. I’d previously worked as a community carer for 12 years whilst my children were growing up.

I can honestly say it feels like coming home. The whole team are genuinely committed to our client’s well-being and there’s a great team spirit.  I’ve recently embraced the role of Senior Care Giver and I’m currently working on my NVQ Level 3 Care through Right at Home.

I like to relax by catching up with my now grown-up children, walking with my husband, swimming and also coaching children at my martial arts club.

Hi, my name is Louise, I’ve been working for Right At Home since June 2020. During my time I have received three promotions: I was made a Senior CareGiver, then I took on the role of Care Field Supervisor and now I am the Deputy Care Manager for Petersfield. I love the variety of work, the clients and being able to support a team of outstanding CareGivers. I am passionate about our clients feeling well looked after, and that they enjoy their visits. I am a Dementia Friend which helps us understand some of our client's needs. I love the flexibility of the job and am hoping to continue and progress through the Petersfield and Havant group.

When I’m not working I love baking, musicals, watching sports and walking.

Hi, I'm Suzanne and I've been working for Right at Home since 2018. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I had to give up my beloved CareGiver role but jumped at the opportunity to fill the role of Recruitment Administrator which is challenging and highly enjoyable.

In my spare time I enjoy reading the 'old classics', travelling and spending time in the forest or on the beach with my Cockapoo Indie.

My name is Becky Griffiths and I have been with Right at Home since spring 2017. I joined after meeting Duncan at a Careers fair and haven't looked back. I love my job and those that I work with. I like to laugh and sing and those that know me will say that I do this a lot. In early 2019 I became a Senior Care Giver which has given me more confidence and enabled me to grow as a person and a Right at Home employee.

I joined Right at Home in 2022 and in that time I have been promoted to a Senior CareGiver and I am taking a NVQ Level 3 in Social Care
In my role I have responsibility for a number of clients and a team of CareGivers.
I live with my mum in Havant, who is very important to me and in my free time I like to go shopping, on holidays and spending time with friends and family.
