Arbour Companions & Care are specialist providers of 24-hour live-in care in Surrey and surrounding counties. The business is family-owned and CQC regulated as Good in all 5 domains (July 2023).

Experienced carers provide care for a wide range of medical conditions such as; strokes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, dementia, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, respiratory diseases, spinal cord injury, osteoarthritis, heart disease, M.E and fibromyalgia. Carers are experienced at working with community palliative care teams during end-of-life care.

Live-in carers support with personal care, continence needs, mobility support, rehabilitation exercises, medication (both ordering and administering), household duties, shopping, meal planning, cooking, social interaction, organising medical /personal appointments as well as social and enrichment activities, outings and therapy dog visits.

Flexible packages range from short-term respite care from once a week (charged on an hourly rate) to long-term live-in contracts. A trial period of 4 weeks is offered, so that clients can see whether the service works for them and can give 7 days’ notice during this trial. A comprehensive care needs assessment is carried out to create a bespoke care plan. Live-in carers often stay with their clients on a regular rota basis to develop strong bonds.

The highly trained care team support the carers and carry out supervisions, observations, and medication competencies. The on-call service is run by the care team, providing 24/7 local emergency support and peace of mind.

Clients and their family members, with permissions, can see exactly what care is being given via a system called Pass. It stores important documents such as care plans, risk assessments, daily record notes, medication administration records and any other relevant care information.

A free, no-obligation visit is offered to talk through all needs.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum suffered a debilitating stroke a few months ago which has accelerated her dementia. She now needs 24/7 care and we wanted Mum to have the best care possible, in her own home.

Finding the right care company was challenging. Most did not seem to take Mum's needs seriously, thinking of her as

a commodity rather than as a person. That all changed when I met the manager from Arbour Companions and Care. She was extremely knowledgeable, professional and efficient yet at the same time personable, caring and kind. She spoke to Mum in the first instance (not about Mum) and quickly established her needs. The decision was an easy one.

My decision was a good one and we realised this when the carers arrived. They are marvellous. The lady who looks after Mum currently, is brilliant. Kind, attentive and professional. Mum is at home, with things happening on her terms.

Arbour Companions and Care is a good company. I trust them with my own family and am very happy with the results.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.884 for Arbour Companions & Care is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.884
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Arbour Companions & Care is based on 12 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4.8
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Operations Director/Registered Manager Joined: 2024

My early career was spent working in various banking roles in the City of London, then in 2008, I made the move into the care industry and haven't looked back.

Working in care is always busy and often challenging, but I love helping people and working with a team that can make a real difference to people's lives. I joined Arbour Companions and Care in 2024 as Registered Manager, and I have now progressed to Operations Director too.

My role is to ensure that our team provide the best care to enable our clients to live safely at home.

In my spare time, I enjoy keeping fit, spending time with the family and going on long walks with the dog.

My new role includes managing and supporting our field care supervisor and carers, carrying out supervisions, observations, and client well-being visits. I love getting out in the community to give hands-on support.

Having school-aged children, my spare time is spent at clubs and days out - they certainly keep me active. I have recently completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.

Job Title: Recruitment & Enrichment Administrator Joined: 2024

I have enjoyed a varied career, initially as a secondary school teacher, after which I worked in recruitment. After taking time out to start a family, I chose a new avenue of work within the care industry. I worked as the Activities Co-ordinator within care homes, which I loved and could really see the benefits that a varied programme of activity brings to people’s lives. This, in turn, has inspired us to launch Arbour Companion and Care’s Enrichment Programme to support our clients and carers. Working in the care sector is extremely rewarding, and I am looking forward to bringing my combination of skills to this role.

In my spare time, I love to go running, walk my dog, do arts & crafts projects and spend time with my family.

I came from Mauritius to the United Kingdom to study accountancy then I joined the financial services industry. I am passionate about the care industry having initially worked as a carer while studying and looking after my disabled mother-in-law for 25 years as her main carer. I thrive to help carers and clients with finance with a kind and caring approach, which is different to my initial career in financial services.

In my spare time I enjoy yoga, swimming, travelling and long walks on a beach front.
