Bluebird Care (Portsmouth) provides care to people in their own home, allowing them to stay in familiar surroundings for as long as possible, without having to go into residential care.

They can provide anything from short, daily visits to 24-hour care, providing assistance with a range of domestic and personal tasks, including getting up and going to bed, preparing meals, accompanying to social events, personal care and medication.

Bluebird Care (Portsmouth) offers overnight care as well as live-in care for those who require support full-time. Respite care is also available to give a person’s usual carer a break.

The teams will provide person-centred care, according to your daily routine.

If your family lives afar, they can monitor your daily care notes from their mobile phones. With the Passystem, you can see whether the carer has come and what they did for your beloved. The teams will ensure that certain problems get spotted and reported back to the family and/or other care professionals. The team will advise when they think that the person is deteriorating and advise accordingly the next step.

They deliver more complex care as well. They support people with dementia, Parkinson's, Huntington's disease and people who suffer with long term illnesses or conditions.

They can manage most cases all the way to the end if that is the wish. The live in care team are people who will move in with the customer and stay with them for certain periods at the time to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Might I suggest that when a man is coming in, we could be advised? Friday was a very different day as I had two policemen here, but all was well. They did ask me if I was expecting a man to call, and I said no. They went outside to meet him - I'm sure he was surprised.

In general, the teams do call if it is a change in the roster. We do send all our customer rosters, and you can check yourself if there is someone you do not know.

I would fully recommend Bluebird Care, they looked after my 86 year old mum in her own home for nearly 3 years, visiting 3 times a day. They gave me peace of mind as I live over an hour away and on a few occasions, they were able to be with my mum when she had a fall and waited for me to arrive. They
went over and beyond their care duties.

I cannot rate the Bluebird Care team highly enough. I only wish that I had begun using their services much sooner. Each and every carer that came on a daily basis were so kind and caring to my Mum. She called me each evening to ask me to attend the next session so I could meet them all (which kind
of defeated the purpose of them visiting her!!). I shall be singing their praises to all my friends, and recommend them highly. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and I found the online access to Mums visits so helpful, it told me everything I needed to know. Mum is currently in a care home having some respite, as sadly I feel that is probably where she needs to be now on a permanent basis, but for anyone who can remain in their own home but just needs that bit of extra help - Bluebird Care are your people for sure!

My friend has benefitted from the help of Bluebird live-in carers for nearly three years. This was great for him when he needed help around the home and help with his personal care. As his needs became more complex with age living at home was no longer appropriate. He was moved into a local care home.
For clients who want to stay at home and just need help Bluebird supplies an extremely valuable service.

The Bluebird Care team involved with caring for my father, are very professional and efficient in their roles and responsibilities.
There have been minor issues specific to my father's needs, but in all such cases, as soon as such issues are raised with the care team, they are resolved very promptly.
One
of the most important aspects of the care package is that my father both accepts and welcomes the care he is receiving, and indeed, looks forward to the twice-daily visits.
The team are very polite to my father, and always seem to have the skill and compassion required to put him at ease if he ever gets stressed or worried about anything.
The Care package is very flexible, and permits adjustments sometimes necessary, if my father's routine changes, (i.e. he is visiting family for a few days etc.)

I'm very pleased with the result of hiring Bluebird Care to provide a care service for my mother. My mother now remains in good spirits and is contented in her everyday life. The primary reason for hiring a care company was to ensure my mother remains in her "comfort zone" due to her Alzheimer’s and
Dementia conditions and not become agitated and/or unduly worried about her physical and mental state. Bluebird Care have kept my mother in her "comfort zone" by monitoring her medicine intake for both Alzheimer’s and Dementia and reviewing her general well-being.

I have been so impressed with Bluebird. The carers are all professional, kind and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad and I feel very well supported by Bluebird.
My dad has benefited greatly from having Bluebird. It allows him to live in his own home despite his age and disabilities. He looks
forward to the carers’ visits, which have been especially important in lockdown as we don’t live locally.
Bluebird has given me peace of mind because I know that the carers will spot problems in advance and do not hesitate to take appropriate action.
The senior staff are all very approachable and friendly. I feel that I have someone on my side when things get a bit tricky.


The team are great at communicating with the family, as they know how important it is to work as a team.


I have no hesitation in recommending Bluebird.

My Mum has benefitted greatly from the Bluebird Care Team. They make sure she gets up each morning, has a wash or shower, gets dressed, has a good breakfast and takes her medication. They have also taken her to a medical appointment when necessary. Most importantly they talk to my Mum which means that
she now has something to tell me every day when I speak to her. This has been fantastic during the 'lockdown' because she lives on her own and may not have spoken to anyone during the day. Face to face contact has been invaluable. My Mum really likes all the staff who visit her and has found them very caring, chatty and helpful.

All the carers from Bluebird Care are brilliant, really good, really patient really kind. My parents are not the easiest people to look after they are very stuck in their ways. They do not think they need help but without the help from the carers and supervisors one or both of my parents would have
wound up in hospital again.
The Bluebird team are excellent and are allowing my parents to keep living independently. And allowing me to get back to work and not worry so much about my aged parents.
There is an app which allows me to see how my parents are doing every time the carers visit. Useful also for my brother who is not local to my parents.
Feel that with the Bluebird team in place I can now look after my parents better safe in the knowledge that medication is being taken and they are eating 3 meals a day.
The last couple of years could have been more comfortable for my parents and easier for me had I employed Bluebird earlier.

The Bluebird Carers have always proved to be a skilful, thoughtful, caring and responsive group. Having dementia, my mother doesn't actually remember them individually, but she is always pleased to see them when they arrive, calling them her “blue angels”. What is more, she is confident in them and
happy to be in their care - as I live over 100 miles away this is enormously reassuring.
If any problem occurs I am immediately informed, and there has always proved to be an efficient communications system between the carers, the supervisors and myself - another essential confidence booster.
Mum's Bluebird carers are entirely responsible for her welfare, and almost her only contact with the outside world. The fact that she is happy, responsive and healthy is, for me, wonderful evidence of their success.

We started with Bluebird when my husband was much more able than he is now, and we have increased the support they provide for us, including some residential care for me to have a break. We find them excellent in all ways, courteous, professional, knowledgeable, always willing to help and to step up
to help us meet new challenges as they arise. We would not be able to have the quality of life we share without the help and kindness of Bluebird. All staff are very welcoming and I always feel I can call and ask for advice and extra help even at relatively short notice. While I try not to take advantage of this kindness, it does mean that I can still, at times, step into the breach as 'Grandma', something that my husband's increasing frailty has reduced significantly. The opportunity for group sessions has been a great joy to my husband, and gives me an extra break for a short swim! We have absolute trust in our Bluebird team, and would not be without them for the world.

Both staff in the office and carers in the field are very good at their jobs. When telephoning the office any queries, problems or just information is dealt with quickly and efficiently. The carers are always wearing the correct attire and are professional in their work and adhere to the care plan.
They are respectful and cheerful and most importantly give me 'peace of mind' to know they are taking very good care of my father.

Sophie

Sophie Emmess

Job Title: Registered Care Manager Joined: 2017

Sophie was keen to find a company that shared the values she herself stands for; compassion, looking after staff and working to provide excellent customer service. She was thrilled when she came across Bluebird Care Portsmouth. Sharing these beliefs and values, Bluebird Care provides bespoke care and ensures customers' needs are the number one priority.


Having been in the care industry for more than 10 years, by working in residential homes and support houses, Sophie has finally found her career path. She feels very much at home in domiciliary care, as well as being part of a devoted company and a passionate care team.

Sophie is a prime example of a Care Manager who has worked her way through the ranks. Originally a care coordinator, Care supervisor and then a business development officer, Sophie knows the care sector ins and outs. She is well respected by her staff and will ensure that your interest in care will be taken into account and respected. Sophie has QCF Level3 in Social health care and is now studying to complete her QCF level 5 in Health Care management.


In her spare time, Sophie enjoys running and challenging herself, completing courses like Tough Mudder. We are sure that if you put any challenge in front of Sophie, she would gladly accept and conquer.

She is responsible for guiding you through the process of tailoring your care wishes and needs and she works very closely with our Care Assistants to ensure you get the best care possible. Jade has worked for Bluebird Care Portsmouth since 2016 as a Care Assistant but has since grown into our Care Supervisor in 2021.


Jade is extremely passionate about person-centred care and ensures each customer has a care plan tailored to their needs, which also enhances their personal ability and dignity.

Laura Ewen

Laura is in charge of the organising of rostering. Whilst we all will have a preference for certain time slots, we do not want to over-promise and not deliver. When a new customer makes an enquiry, Laura will try to get it in at the specified time if possible looking at our staff availability and our current customer base.


She will endeavour to ensure that our customers will get it as close as within a half hour in front or after if there is no option. Otherwise, we will make a suggestion of time and make a proposal on what one can accept or decline.
Laura is a seasoned care coordinator and will try to make everyone happy, ie our customers as well as our care assistants. Whilst we know that sometimes people prefer a certain carer, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the person at all times. You will need to accept several care assistants to your team.
