Almost without exception, carers were matched to my wife by age, temperament and interests. She found them congenial temporary companions but not requiring personal care.

My care started in 2018 when I was discharged from a long period in hospital. I was in a poor state and had eating difficulties, had lost a lot of weight. Within a short time, I began to recover due to the excellent care of Home Instead and my amazing children. Home cooked food of my choice was a big
part of this.
Since then I have lived a better life with the help I have received, even through the COVID nightmare. I am grateful for all the love and care which has been given to me and I hope to continue in comfort for days to come.

I cannot have a bath on my own and my wife is unable to help for health reasons. I have found the two caregivers excellent, very kind, gentle and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and I look forward to Tuesday mornings.

The staff are generally good. There have been too many changes. We have had to familiarise seven people with our house and needs already in 2021. Some of the trained staff in 2020 have not been seen again! why is this? The programme for each week is issued very late on Friday pm, leaving us little time
to comment or alter. The hourly rates are now very high and we are unable to do training now. Try to restrict to three or four people, please.

We are sorry that you have had some changes to your care team recently but we have worked really hard to replace some of your team that are no longer with Home Instead, but unfortunately, the match did not work and we had to replace the caregiver. We always make sure you have a team of 3 caregivers that you see regularly to ensure that should one of your team be off poorly then you will always have someone you know that attends. We email/post our rota's on a Thursday to all our caregivers and clients.

It is not an easy process to introduce care to my very independent minded mum. Home Instead have helped gently along the way and made all the difference in making it possible for her to stay at home. The team of carers we have carefully established over the last 18 months are becoming trusted friends
and it is a massive weight off my mind to know she is so well looked after when I can't be there.

I have received care from Home Instead since October 2018. It began after a fall where I broke my pelvis and was in severe pain for serval months. All the care given at that time was efficient and cheerful and made it possible for me to remain in my own home, which I was determined to do if it could
be arranged.
Now, two years later, I have a regular carer who comes to help me on several early mornings each week. She is skilful, always cheerful and good company, and I have come to rely on her for help and support.

Twice weekly support from Home Instead made it possible for me to cope at home during the second half of 2020. Then, in early January, I had a bad fall and came out of hospital with major problems. Home Instead were magnificent, speedily, reassuringly and efficiently putting in the daily support I now
needed. The systems are accommodating, communication is easy and the staff are versatile and skilled and have become friends. I am very grateful to be in their hands.

The initial set-up meeting gave us huge confidence and reassurance that we had chosen the right care provider. Our requirements were met extremely promptly and we didn't look back. My mother is 90 years of age and chooses to still live independently. Home Instead give both my sister and me great peace of mind knowing they are only a phone call away in an emergency. Currently, the weekly one hour home care visit is on a companionship basis. In the future, we shall increase the
hours and care as and when our mother needs more assistance. This will ensure she can remain living in her own home. Thank you Home Instead!!

Home Instead has given exceptional care to my mum and dad over the years. They have always worked around our needs and will do whatever they can to accommodate us. Amanda Hamer

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2011

Gloucestershire is such a beautiful county and I feel incredibly proud to have opened our Home Instead Senior Care office just outside Cheltenham. My twins were born in Cheltenham (a boy and a girl!) and go to school there, and we live not far away near Cirencester.


I have had a wonderful career, holding a number of Local Authority posts before becoming a corporate director here in Gloucestershire. I've been responsible for everything from customer service to community development, business improvement to staff training and I've learned a lot about what matters to local communities and older people. I was inspired by my sister and my sister-in-law to become involved in the care sector, both of whom work with older people. Home Instead Senior Care means I can have a real impact on the day to day quality of people's lives. It means I can provide the very best level of service on a completely personalised basis, which is exactly what I would want for my own mum.


Being the first care at home company in Gloucestershire to be rated overall 'Outstanding' for a second time running by the CQC (achieved by only a small number of organisations nationwide) is amazing and all down to the truly wonderful CAREGivers and fantastic office team who work with us.

I began my journey with Home Instead in 2020, working as a Care Professional and supporting clients with their needs for two years. After this period, I transitioned to an office role, joining the client team. Recently, my role has evolved into a completely new position, designed to serve as a bridge between clients and their care professionals. Joining Home Instead in February 2022 marked a significant milestone in my career. The initial phase was challenging, but the robust support system and training program at Home Instead equipped me with the skills and confidence needed to excel in my role.
After one and a half years, I was honoured to be offered the position of Senior Care Professional. This role allowed me to take on more responsibilities and further develop my expertise. A little while later, I advanced to the role of Team Leader, where I oversee and assist new care professionals during the beginning stages of their journey with us.
Currently, I continue to grow and learn in my role at Home Instead. I am dedicated to providing the highest level of care and constantly seeking opportunities for professional development. In the future, I aspire to take on more significant leadership roles within the organization, where I can continue to mentor new caregivers and contribute to the advancement of caregiving standards.
