Bluebird has always been helpful when arranging care for my mother. The carers are diligent and friendly. Despite recent restrictions due to Covid 19, they continued to carry out their duties in a relaxed and friendly way whilst wearing appropriate PPE. We haven't had any problems and have been using them now for a year.
Many thanks for your kind comments. We are happy to support your Mum, and we are glad to know that our Covid-19 procedures have not diminished the cheery nature of our 'carers' visits.
The staff quickly established a real bond and genuine friendship and understanding with her and took time to find out her particular needs and likes.
We started off with only a few visits a week, but as soon as her needs increased Bluebird were very quick to fulfill the requirements for full time care.
The local team showed unfailing care and compassion for her many needs but this was also coupled with a sense of humour which she appreciated.
Thank you for leaving your thoughtful review. We’ll be sure to pass your comments. It was our pleasure to care for your aunt.
When you are ill or disabled in any way and still want to stay in the comfort and convenience of your own home, you also want to feel safe, confident and happy with the people coming into your home to help and care for you; with Bluebird, you can be sure of this feeling. Friendly, kind, well presented, efficient and capable, the Bluebird carers also share their lives with Mum and brighten her morning when they arrive. They couldn't be better!
My only one irritation is the four week notice period we have to give, should we have to cancel their services. If, for example, spontaneously Mum comes to us for a few days, we have to continue to pay. I understand they are, of course, a business with a lot of staff but two weeks would be better.
(To clarify, our policy for a cancellation of a visit within 14 days is chargeable. It is 28 days’ notice for full cancellation of service).
Bluebird have been excellent. Mum looks forwards to the visits from the “ladies” many of whom have gone above and beyond what could have been expected of them. Communication with Bluebird has also been great, with any queries we raise receiving a timely and thoughtful response. Bluebird has also been proactive in contact us if they felt there was something we needed to know about in terms of mum’s wellbeing.
We have used Bluebird care Lancaster & South Lakeland for the last few years for my sister who has Alzheimer's and would recommend them to others who are looking for reliable and sensitive home care. They have worked with us to support my sister so she can remain in her own home with her beloved dog. She has a small group of carers who attend to her every need and looks on some of them as her friends getting excited at their visits. If there are any concerns they contact me and if I feel things are not working as well as they could be they listen to my concerns and we work together to find a solution. It is vital to my sister's care that she feels safe and comfortable with her carers as she does not respond well to change and as much as possible they try to do this. If there are any she does not take to for whatever reason they will try to avoid sending them as my sister would just not comply with her care and her needs would not be met.
This is really helpful and encouraging feedback. Thank you Brenda.
Bluebird Care is more than just a care agency for my mum. The team does the everyday things without a rush and always with a laugh and a smile meaning my mum gets the valuable care she needs buts just as importantly has people in her house that she really enjoys being with and looks forward to seeing. Over the last 30 years my mum has used several care agencies and for the last 4 years has been with Bluebird. Without a doubt in every area, Bluebird is the best care team she has had always prepared to go that extra mile to make sure everything is ok for my mum. It feels great for all my family knowing that mum is cared for so well by such fantastic people. Thank you.
My brother became very ill with lung cancer and COPD at the beginning of January. He had been resistant to getting any kind of help, but after a visit from two of the managers of Bluebird Care, he agreed with me that this was a good option. He received four visits a day and from the beginning, both he and I were extremely happy with the care he received. Without fail, all the carers who visited were kind, compassionate, cheerful and so willing to help both him and me, in any way. He was always treated with great kindness and patience. On the occasions when I had to return home I always felt that he was in good hands. When he became extremely ill towards the end of February, the care he received was excellent, and I cannot thank Bluebird Care enough for all their help at a very difficult time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your review of our service. We will be sure to feedback your kind words to the team.
Bluebird Care stepped in at very short notice to look after my father following the sudden and unexpected death of my mother. The high standards of care provided by this agency enabled us to honour Father's wish to be cared for in his own home, for three years, until his increasing frailty made homecare no longer viable. He was clearly genuinely contented and reassured by the kindness and expertise of the carers. Our family is particularly grateful for the kindness and compassion of the two ladies who provide 24 hour care for him in his last ten months at home. He was also keen to participate in a trial scheme run by Bluebird, to provide his GP with "vital signs" information, an innovation that I hope will become commonplace. I have no hesitation in giving the Bluebird Care agency the strongest recommendation.
My experience with Bluebird has been fantastic from the word go. The organisation from the administration has shown a great deal of compassion in carefully choosing a carer who is right for me. Bluebird is a company that cares about you as an individual. They have made me feel appreciated and cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any of my friends.
Thank you so much C D for this kind review. It is lovely to know that you felt appreciated and that you find us compassionate and caring.

My job is to make sure we provide our customers with precisely the care they want, in the way they choose, offering the value-for-money they expect. That means:
-recruiting the best staff, with the right values and caring, "can-do" personalities
-investing in the training, skills and professional development of our staff, as well as offering terms and conditions commensurate with a high-quality service.
-developing effective and robust quality systems that guarantee reliability and consistency of service to customers, whatever unforeseen obstacles might get thrown in the way
-always looking for ways we can innovate so as to continually improve on what we offer
I started Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland in 2015, having always had a personal interest in care and caring, and hands-on experience supporting close relatives with dementia.
My professional background is in public policy and administration – my first career was as a diplomat, but I moved to Lancaster in 2005 to raise our children and worked for Lancashire County Council in promoting transparent and accountable public services.
I have been hugely inspired by the opportunity to develop my own care business as a member of Bluebird Care network, to bring together my passion for excellent care with my professional skills.
I am married with four children. I love living in the Morecambe Bay area, proud of its rich natural beauty and cultural heritage. My hobbies include reading and sports - especially walking in the Bowland or Lakeland hills. And as I move past the 50 mark, I find I am loving gardening too!
Alyson's role is to lead and oversee a safe and effective care service, making sure we never compromise on our quality commitments
Now partway through her Leadership Development Programme, Alyson is linked to numerous local and national best practice forums. She's always on the lookout for fresh ideas and new developments in the sector.
Alyson knows each and every one of our customers and their families, never losing touch with what’s really important. This is what truly motivates her to do the best she possibly can in managing our premium service. "We've got a fantastic team of carers out there, and I feel privileged to be leading them," she says. "I can honestly say we've got a top-class service."
Nicola's task is to provide you with the right carers at the right time, and in the right place, delivering the quality of care that you expect. Not only does Nicola produce the weekly schedules, but she also leads our team of carers, seniors and supervisors to make sure we always get things right
Nicola is qualified for Level 5 in Health and Social, and has many years of experience in care management
"When I joined Bluebird Care, I was made so welcome by the team. I share their passion for care, and I enjoy meeting the daily challenges that this work can present. Supporting our customers by providing the best possible care is our aim every single day".
We are extremely proud of our live-in care service. Jana has quickly worked her way up to the post of Live-in Care Manager, bringing her unique style and care skills together.
Our live-in care service started in 2016 and demand continues to grow. Jana employs a team of expert live-in carers and provides them with the specialist training required for this work, as well as the right support and management. Jana also oversees carefully all details of each customer's care and liaises with other professionals and family members as any issues arise. She will go out to visit at the drop of a hat to make sure all is well.
A key skill of a live-in care manager is matching a carer with the right skills and temperament for the customer, and making sure they get sufficient rest between placements.
In addition, Ritika works closely with our customers and their representatives to ensure that the instructions to our carers reflect exactly what is wanted and that we are at all times fully compliant with UK legislation. And that we never fall below the quality standards that we set ourselves.
Toni's main role is to make sure we get ALL the relevant information we need to provide a premium care service to each of our customers.
Not only must we develop a detailed understanding from our customers of what they both need and prefer, making our service 100% person-centred in each case, but as a regulated care provider there are also substantial legal requirements for us to fulfil in each case.
Toni takes all this information and creates a care plan for each of our customers, which in turn forms the basis of what is provided by the carer. Getting this right and updating it accordingly and timely fashion is essential
Steph recruits caring people to work for us, people with the right values and attitudes. We select our staff based on decency, compassion, kindness, professionalism, reliability and a willingness to learn.
Once recruited, they then enter our in-depth training programme. This starts with a week-long induction programme followed by 1-2 weeks of shadowing. New staff are then monitored and supported every week through their first 12 weeks. Training is refreshed annually, and additional training on specialised procedures is provided as and when required.
