Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland provides a full and comprehensive range of home care services, including live-in care.

The provider has been operating a local family business since 2014 and has established a reputation for delivering high-quality care. It is known as a provider of choice in the locality. All customers are informed each week of exactly what time their care visit will take place and which care assistant will be helping them, making daily planning much easier and taking the stress out of the process. Critical to Bluebird Care's offer is that carers always stay for the full duration of the care visit. Unlike with other providers it is never the case that travel time is taken out of visit time.

Support is offered to people who require extra help to continue living in their own homes, such as medication support, personal care and meal preparation. The provider also offers companionship visits as well as accompanying social outings or appointments and has an excellent track record in dementia care and complex care, such as end of life, as well as an overnight service.   

A live-in care service is also offered, providing an alternative to a residential home so that the customer can remain within the familiarity of their own home but with full-time support. The Team are very proud of this growing specialism. Out of the 23 cases they have managed, the feedback has been consistently excellent.

It is the attention to detail that makes the difference and Bluebird Care enables people to have the choice to remain at home, living their very best quality of life. With this extra support, many people have benefited from an improvement in the quality of their lives and the opportunity to continue to do the things that they enjoy. Bluebird have been providing care for my parents for over five years and during this time they have never let us down. The carers are professional, friendly and respectful. The office staff are also professional and friendly and keep us as a family informed of any changes or concerns they have with
my parent's health. I would highly recommend Blue Bird for anyone seeking support in their own home. The carers are they provide is second to none and they are flexible if changes are needed to the care or if additional care is needed. Thank you to all the Bluebird team

Very good service for my husband. Carers kind and considerate and nothing is too much trouble. Always ask if there is anything else that they can do for us . They have helped with my husband's progress to the extent that he is now more independent. Office staff have always informed us if a carer is
going to be late and have carried out a regular review. Can highly recommend them .

The standard of care and appearance of carers has been very good. Carers are on time, are good with individual clients and have done much to help with a much improved mobility. One is happy to welcome them into your home. Communication with the Supervisor has been excellent and there have been no problems
with contacting the office when issues have occurred.

Bluebird care have been looking after Dad for over a year now. We have had to adjust Dad's needs along the way. I have always found the office very helpful in replying to me about any new tasks required by the The Carers to do for him. I get a prompt efficient reply from the office . Sometimes a note
is left for the Carer to do a task for Dad and it is always carried out.
I would recommend Bluebird care to anyone needing help to stay in Thier own home. I have just completed a annual review with a member of staff, this was carried out with care and efficiency to meet Dad's needs, thank you.

My husband was very happy with the care. And he can't wait for them to come again. They did things my husband asked to do. They sat in the garden with him. Made my husband his hot chocolate. They couldn't do if enough him.

Without Bluebird Care, February would have been almost impossible, an accident at home left me with a host of hospital, doctors, physiotherapist appointments, the very last thing I needed, as a full time carer.
My wife requires round the clock help.
Bluebird Care were there for me, always with a smile,
having to rearrange there appointments to fit in with my ever changing plans.

I have used Bluebird Care for both a live-in respite care package and afternoons of personal care. My husband suffers from anxiety and poor memory, but the provision of the same carers has reduced stress for both of us and provided a first-class level of care.

I put in Bluebird Care Package for my mum a year ago, and both myself and my mum are really happy with the care provided. My mum has onset dementia but mainly suffers with severe anxiety and panic attacks so it is really important that my mum sees the same regular carers all the time, which Bluebird
provide. Bluebird give me peace of mind and provide a wonderful service.

Bluebird Care have been very professional and caring in their approach to my mother in law. We have worked with Bluebird for the last two years - first for companionship support and then for live-in care for my mum who has Alzheimer’s. They have excellent, kind staff who quickly work out what Mum needs and how to make her happy and keep her relaxed. My dad was reticent about having live-in
care initially but 6 months in, he really appreciates the difference it has made to the quality of their lives and the upkeep of the house. The live-in care coordinator is really supportive and responsive. She is regularly in contact with updates or to discuss any little issues that need to be ironed out. On the rare occasion when the match hasn’t worked out, she has sorted it out within 24 hours which is very impressive. With me living over 3 hours away I feel 100% more relaxed knowing that she is overseeing the care for Mum and that the carers are doing such a good job.

I cannot praise Lancaster Bluebird care highly enough. Right from my first phone call to them they have treated me with respect and genuine care throughout the whole process.
I used to be a carer myself and the standard they set is very high. Alongside this everyone I have met and talked to on the
phone has an easy but professional manner. Also a great sense of humour which I think is very important.

About Me
I started Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland in 2015, having always had a personal interest in care and caring, and hands-on experience supporting close relatives with dementia. 
My professional background is in public policy and administration – my first career was as a diplomat, but I moved to Lancaster in 2005 to raise our children and worked for Lancashire County Council in promoting transparent and accountable public services.  
I have been hugely inspired by the opportunity to develop my own care business as a member of Bluebird Care network, to bring together my passion for excellent care with my professional skills.
I am married with four children. I love living in the Morecambe Bay area, proud of its rich natural beauty and cultural heritage.   My hobbies include reading and sports - especially walking in the Bowland or Lakeland hills.  And as I move past the 50 mark, I find I am loving gardening too!

Our live-in care service started in 2016 and demand continues to grow. Jana employs a team of expert live-in carers and provides them with the specialist training required for this work, as well as the right support and management. Jana also oversees carefully all details of each customer's care and liaises with other professionals and family members as any issues arise. She will go out to visit at the drop of a hat to make sure all is well.


A key skill of a live-in care manager is matching a carer with the right skills and temperament for the customer, and making sure they get sufficient rest between placements.
