Eileen and I are delighted with the service we get from first focus, especially Ogi and Tinca. The service we get from first focus is a god send to us. The staff are so efficient and friendly and helpful at all times.
Everyone we have been in contact with has been extremely helpful and proactive. My mum has Alzheimers and can be a bit tricky, but the team is keen to help and support both my mum and my dad, offering advice and seeking to find ways to overcome any obstacles. She is treated with kindness and respect.
My wife, Anne, fell and broke her hip which was subsequently replaced. While visiting her in hospital I managed to badly twist my back in the hospital car park. When Anne was discharged I was largely incapacitated and we desperately needed some help. I contacted 1st Focus Homecare and received an assessment visit the next day. A carer arrived the following morning. Over the following weeks a variety of carers attended for two hours a day, three days a week. They carried out a variety of tasks with good humour and efficiency. All the carers were friendly, caring and helpful. They and their managers were most efficient in our care. They made our short term difficulties able to cope with. I would thoroughly recommend 1st Focus for short or longer term care.
The care provided by 1st focus staff was excellent in every way. The staff were always very professional and caring , treating my mum with dignity and compassion at all times. Thank you for your help at a difficult time.
The carer provided everything we had hoped for and the care provided was as discussed before the first visit. The carer was a breath of fresh air in our home leaving us a bit more optimistic for the future. We are looking forward to the next care visit.
Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Being home affords mum comfort and familiarity with her surroundings and having 'one to one' care rather than being in a care home.
Having the same two carers S and K alternating every 3 days means mum has stability and a close trusting relationship 24x7.
Mum was recently admitted to hospital following another stroke and we were told that mum was in the final stages of life.
Thanks to both S and K's devotion, determination and care mum made a miraculous recovery. Mum sees the S &K as a familiar faces allowing them to feed her, give her fluids and medication and with that she was released home within a week.
We honestly feel that if it wasn't for S and K mum would no longer be with us, they truly have been a God send and given mum a quality of life that she would never have in a care home. I cannot recommend 1st Focus Home Care highly enough, as a family we total have peace of mind.
1st Focus Homecare have been looking after our 96 year-old mum, who has dementia and physical frailty, for the last five months and we have been very impressed with their service. The managers and care organisation staff are professional, efficient and quick to respond. She has three regular carers who are all lovely people and very well trained and skilled. They have worked with positivity and empathy to build the relationship and overcome initial resistance on our mum's part to accepting the help she needs. A note is provided by the carers after each visit, viewable by the family on an online portal. 1st Focus deserve their high rating as a care provider and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
Very happy with the standard of service from this provider. Two members of staff were quick to visit and assess my mother's needs following a fall. They were very helpful in providing advice and guidance. Care rosters were delivered quickly and amended easily, even at short notice. Due to the short term nature of the relationship, we had a number of different carers and of course some were better than others, but generally the standard was high. The carers themselves spoke highly of 1st Focus as an employer, which was good to hear. Thoroughly recommended.
We used the services of First Focus when our mum suffered from dementia when in her 90's.We requested a 24 hour carer and got a lovely lady who was extremely caring, thoughtful and attentive to her needs. She did her cleaning and cooking and provided companionship throughout. The staff at the agency were also very supportive to both us and our mum. Thank you for all your help First Focus.
I contacted First Focus approximately 4-5 days before my break as I realised that I couldn't go away unless my mum had support. My mum was insistent that she was able to manage independently.
HR coordinator listened to my concerns and my assessment of my mum's needs. She discussed the options and possible timings of visits. She contacted me later that day to provide details of of support that their agency could provide, which was perfect for my mum. The HR coordinator was very supportive, helpful and professional in providing support and advice.
This has been my experience with this company as a health professional which is why I contacted them to provide a care package for my mum.
Unfortunately, my mum fell and was admitted to hospital before the service could commence (24hrs). First Focus waived any payment.
Excellent service in every way from three members of staff, in particular. We feel in safe and professional hands and look forward to taking advantage of their services again when required. Would highly recommend. Thank you very much!
Arrived in good time introduced herself. Friendly and professional got on with the tasks and also chatted to the client. Happy and cheerful lady. The changed bed looked like one in a magazine. When not sure of a task, was not afraid to ask and agreed understanding. Good report written at end of the allotted time.
When my mum had a bad fall earlier in the year, the carers from 1st Focus stayed with her for many hours until the ambulance arrived. We can never thank them enough for all the care they gave to mum. She enjoyed chatting to them all and the care and compassion they showed to mum and also to us as a family is second to none.
We have been using 1st Focus for care for my mum since August 2024. We have found the carers to be professional, caring and friendly. Management have been very flexible when changes had to be made and have taken prompt action when necessary. 1st Focus have done their utmost to ensure continuity of carer and to match the carer's strengths to my mother's needs.
My husband is now in a care home.
My husband has dementia and I have one day a week that 1st Focus Homecare come to look after my husband. The carer we have is absolutely wonderful. She spends time with my husband doing jigsaw puzzles, taking him for walks, reading books with him and even dancing with him. When shehas been on a Monday he is always happy to see her and you feel comfortable leaving him with her knowing that she is dedicated in what she does.
I would personally rate them 6 stars.
The lady I deal with is the HR coordinator who from day one went through everything with you and explained everything thoroughly. The care plan was put in place and the carer introduced to my husband before I left.
I found the HR coordinator extremely professional and caring and good at what she does and obviously tries to match the person to the carer. You can phone her anytime and run anything you are not sure of past her and she is only too happy to help you.
I have received care for less than two months to date. No problems have arisen. I have nothing more to add at present.
So far service has been extremely fluid and transparent with regards to what was proposed to be supplied and what we have been supplied. Great choice from management as to the carer we got based on the initial brief. That care is working out well and has been a seamless service thus far.
A carer visits my mum twice a week, who has dementia. She has been great as my mum hasn't had support at home before so was a little wary at first. She is lovely and bubbly, and my Mum gets on well with her. The whole process from meeting the manager, to discussing Mum's needs, for support starting was smooth and we talked through the whole process so knew what to expect.

Meet the Team (6)
I moved to Edinburgh from Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 2017 and began working with 1st Focus Homecare in 2019. I started as a Care Assistant and, over time, progressed to Care Supervisor before stepping into my current role as Care Coordinator.
While working with 1st Focus, I successfully completed both SVQ 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as a Professional Development Award (PDA) in Health and Social Care Supervision. These qualifications have helped me strengthen my skills in supporting both clients and colleagues to ensure the highest standard of care.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing the guitar and singing — two of my favourite hobbies. I also love animals and cooking, especially when I can share meals with family and friends.
I am the Business Development Manager and have worked for 1st Focus Homecare since 2017. I was previously the HR Coordinator and hold a CIPD qualification in this field. I greatly enjoy my current role as I get to meet and engage with people who are looking to arrange one of our packages of care. Being able to create a package of care that works for a service user and the people in their lives is highly rewarding.
I previously worked hands-on as a carer, and the experience I gained in those roles helped me to understand what is truly important to the people who use our services and their families. Before joining 1st Focus Homecare, I worked for a couple of homecare providers in Edinburgh, gaining experience in all aspects of care and seeing firsthand the impact that having the right support can have on everyone involved.
Having had a grandparent who suffered from Alzheimer’s, I understand the emotional and physical strain that such a diagnosis places on families. This experience gave me a greater appreciation of the kind of support we all need when we find ourselves in these situations. Knowing that there are compassionate professionals available to support your loved ones — and to help you spend quality time with them — is truly invaluable.
I am from Edinburgh and grew up in the Blackford area. I have a son, a daughter, and three cats. I have a great love of the theatre, reading (especially Georgette Heyer novels), art, birdwatching, and playing badminton.
I am one of the Care Supervisors, and I have worked for 1st Focus Homecare since 2019. Before joining the office team, I supported council visits and, more recently, private companionship care visits. I really enjoy getting to know service users and their families to ensure they receive the best care possible.
I studied and earned my BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. As part of my studies, I completed four placements across different sectors and services. I have always been interested in looking after others and working with them in a person-centred way, and I have also worked in two different care homes.
I have lived in and around Edinburgh all my life. I have a passion for craft activities, music, and musical theatre. I attend the theatre regularly, supporting both professional and amateur dramatic productions. I also volunteer for Girlguiding Scotland as a Leader in Training for a Rainbows unit in Musselburgh.
I was a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS) and have toured with the choir across the country and in Europe, including a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. I am also a member of an Edinburgh-based choir, Cadenza, performing regularly at the Fringe Festival and throughout the year.
Purity is a compassionate and dedicated care professional with a strong background in counselling, mental health, and community development. Originally from Zimbabwe, she holds a BA in Counselling Psychology as well as a Bible School diploma and has completed both basic and advanced counselling training.
Her career has taken her across Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, and now Scotland, giving her a rich cross-cultural perspective on care and support. In Zimbabwe, Purity founded a non-profit organisation that partnered with schools, clinics, communities, and churches to provide psychosocial support and carry out charitable initiatives. She also partnered with churches in Mozambique and South Africa to deliver community-focused charity work, extending care and hope to those in need. During her time in South Africa, she also served as a Crisis Counsellor for a national helpline, playing a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alongside her practical work, Purity is an accomplished author of three books, including a recent mental health self-help guide. Her writing reflects her passion for empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being.
Since relocating to Edinburgh, Purity has continued to grow in her career — supporting adults with learning disabilities as a Support Worker, Acting Senior, and then Senior within her first year. In April 2025, she joined 1st Focus Homecare as a Care Supervisor, where she leads with empathy and works to create environments where people feel valued, supported, and empowered in their daily lives.
Outside of work, Purity has been married for 25 years and is a proud mother of two adult children, whom she home-educated. The fourth of seven siblings, she values strong family connections and community. She enjoys gardening, DIY projects, and finding creative ways to make spaces feel welcoming.
I joined 1st Focus in 2022 as a Care Assistant, where I quickly developed a strong passion for person-centred care and supporting individuals to live independently in their own homes. Providing compassionate, high-quality care has always been important to me, and I was delighted to recently step into the role of Care Supervisor. I now oversee care delivery, support and mentor our team, and help ensure we continue to maintain the highest standards in everything we do.
Before moving into the care sector, I worked as a secondary school teacher in India. Teaching helped me build strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, which I now use every day to guide and support colleagues in a positive and structured way.
During my university years, I volunteered as a leader with the National Service Scheme (NSS), taking part in community development and outreach initiatives. I also hold a Master’s degree in Physics, which reflects my dedication to learning and personal growth.
Outside of work, I love travelling and exploring new countries with my husband. I am trained in Indian classical dance and enjoy performing Bharathanatyam on various stages. I am also a member of The Ghungroo Revolution, a Glasgow-based dance group.
I truly believe that working alongside a dedicated and supportive care team gives me the confidence and motivation to keep growing, improving, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people.
I moved to Fort William from Poland in 2010. I found a job in a Care Home and thought I would give it a go. This job was meant to last a few months until I found something else. But I enjoyed helping and working with people, so I stayed working there and learning new things. Six years later, with lots of new skills, experience and SVQ2 certificate, I moved to Edinburgh. I worked in another Care Home for seven years before joining 1st Focus in 2024. I started as a support worker and progressed to become a supervisor. My over 14 years of experience working with the elderly helps me in my new role to understand clients' needs and help them the best I can.
Outside work, I love reading books, walking, playing badminton and cycling. I enjoy jigsaw, cinema and like socialising.
