Home Instead Shoreham, Petts Wood & Longfield (North West Kent) supports older people to stay independent in their own homes.

The care staff (CAREGivers) believe in giving the elderly the most personalised, highest quality care that they deserve. Carers offer companionship, home help services and personal care support with daily living routines.

A premium service is offered, with a minimum of one hour calls to ensure that carers not only support the essential needs of the client but get to build relationships based on trust. Carers are matched with clients through their personalities, interests and approach. Consistency of care is one of the most important parts of the service for clients so they ensure the same carers visit each client which provides consistent and high standards of care. As clients and carers build relationships the bond grows.

This ensures longstanding relationships, and allows clients to really feel as though they are spending time with their own family or friends. All CAREGivers are fully trained and DBS checked, with an additional specialist service in dementia care.

Home Instead has given my mother superb care and companionship for the last three years, until her recent move to a specialist dementia care home. Home Instead enabled her to stay in her own home despite her health and memory difficulties and to keep some independence. Initially, it was for companionship
and to support her to remember meals and medications. Then, as the dementia developed, they covered rest-breaks for live-in carers. At all times the carers have been wonderfully warm people as well as highly professional, and the office staff and supervisors have given me invaluable support too. The staff's willingness to offer some flexibility around the rest-break care when there were particular challenges was very supportive. Everyone got to know Mum really well, and their visits were the highlights of her day. I really cannot thank them all enough.

The carer who attended my wife very quickly became a trusted friend. She treated my wife with dignity and respect right up to the end. One of the things that I liked about the Home Instead staff was that they did not wear uniforms but always attended in normal dress. Therefore did not appear as “nurses”.

The care companions have been so much more than carers. They've become like Dad's friends, friends who cook, clean and shop but who also sit and chat, really listen and do those little extra special things that make him feel valued. I know Dad has been pleased. For my sisters and me, it's given us peace

Home Instead are excellent at what they do. The carers who have looked after my Aunt have been punctual, attentive and caring at all times. Office staff have also been very helpful and easy to contact. We could not have wished for better service.

Since the beginning, we have always been impressed with the selection of quality carers allocated to my mother. They have shown care and friendship above and beyond expectations, never more so than now, as my mother's health declines.

I cannot fault the care and attention given to my husband. The carer arrives at the appointed time and always keeps me informed of any possible problems and/or solutions.
It is reassuring for my husband that a "new face" is introduced to him prior to any alteration as sometimes he finds change disconcerting.
We have also found the new client newsletter, daily and weekly very beneficial.

Our carer is an amazing young woman. We look at her as one of the family, and we couldn't do without her. On a personal view, she is my only contact with the outside world, (of course we see our family very often) and they think she is a "star"!

Both of our parents were living independently with mild to moderate dementia when we engaged with Home Instead shortly after our mother broke her hip and our father was left living alone in a large house as she convalesced. The management and CAREGivers have been responsive, organised, sensitive, professional
and consistent from day 1, providing several visits a day to our father providing companionship and personal care. The knowledgeable office team have, and continue to, support us with advice and staffing flexibility to establish and maintain a live-in carer arrangement. The CAREgivers now visit daily to provide the live-in primary carer daybreak. Consistency in staffing is important for our parents as their dementia has developed over the last year. The CAREgivers that Home Instead have are engaging and enthusiastic and integrate with the live-in carer established routines. The creative interaction and energy they bring to the house is a lift for everyone.

We are very happy with the care received by my mother. She has formed an attachment to her career and looks forward to her visit.
Her career always arrives with a smile and makes time to sit and chat with my mum as well as carry out the needs and help my mother requires.
There is always someone

Home Instead have been providing befriending and support services to my father for over a year. When the lockdown started they arranged to take over all his needs to reduce the risk of any infection. My father is very happy with the carers and enjoys their company. They support him to phone me regularly
and he always expresses his satisfaction. It gives us great peace of mind to know they are visiting him twice a day.

The care given to my father was exceptionally good. The carer began in more of a befriending role, but as Dad’s health deteriorated she adapted to his needs very efficiently. She went out of her way to make Dad’s last days as comfortable as possible. Another carer covered for her on her days off and
was also very caring and capable. The attitude of the staff was always courteous and professional and staff were experienced and very well-trained. We had the utmost confidence in them and could not have managed without them. I have already recommended this care provider and would do so again.

I have been a caregiver since my early teens, and in 2015, I found my true calling when I joined the Home Instead family. From the moment I came across Home Instead, I knew it was the right place for me. Every single person I have met within the organisation carries a deep passion for changing the lives of the elderly, and I wanted nothing more than to be a part of that mission in every possible way.


Growing up in a large multicultural family, I was taught from an early age to respect and care for elders—values I now strive to instil in my own children. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges within the care sector through my grandmother’s experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in Shoreham and the surrounding towns and villages. Helping to provide compassionate, high-quality care is not just my profession - it is my purpose.
