Punctuality is not always good.
Clarity of speech from carers (some less clear than others).

Overall experience is satisfactory with some variability in quality of care.

My experience of employing a carer from an independent agency has been enjoyable as well as very helpful. It has enabled me to continue living alone in my own house.

We have been grateful for this agency finding extra shifts when asked. Generally reliable, turning up for shifts. Could change beds and clothing more often. Would be nice if the staff were trained nurses. Management do regular reviews.

Reply from Sue Judge, Business Manager at MyLife Edinburgh

We are pleased to have been able to assist you with extra shifts to support changing needs and I am glad you find us to be reliable. We would be happy to review your relatives care plan to potentially include more bed changing and clothing duties. Could I please invite you to call our office on to organise a care plan review of needs.

The carers are mostly friendly, efficient, and supportive but the management/administration is difficult. Yesterday, my carer didn't arrive at the usual time of 12/12.30pm for a 2-hour shift. I hadn't received a new rota by post. I rang the agency at 1.15pm, who didn't know where the carer was, but told me to expect a carer at 2pm. I explained I had to leave at 2.30pm for a medical appointment so was told I'd get a call back with an alternative time. At 5.10pm, still no call. I phoned again. I was told a carer had been at 3pm and I wasn't there. I stated the obvious (I told you I was out) and was told I'd be called back. No calls until I rang today and asked when the carer would come to make up for yesterday and was promised a callback. A different person phoned back saying that as I hadn't been in yesterday, had cancelled the shift, refused a visit today and not been at home when the carer came, I would be charged for the shift. I challenged this and asked to leave immediately.

My experience with MyLife has been very poor. Disappointing with many occasions of serious neglect and no continuity of carers. Management and head office are extremely poor. Difficulty in understanding of non-English speaking carers.

I am very pleased with the excellent care and support provided by MyLife. Both the carers and administration/management staff are professional and efficient and I really appreciate their ability to be flexible to our requirements. Living so far away, I am comforted to know that Mum is in good capable hands. I am also very pleased that Mum looks forward to the visit by the carer each morning. Please keep up the good work. Thank you.

Reply from Sue Judge, Business Manager at MyLife Edinburgh

Many thanks for your review. We are delighted to hear such glowing feedback. We're pleased to be seeing your Mum again each day after such a long period of not seeing her face-to-face during COVID times - thank goodness restrictions are lifting - it's good for everyone.

Carers are all timely, kind, considerate and careful with my frail husband. I have come to rely on them and feel much better since they started his support plan. Their smiles are a great joy.

Very happy with the care provided. The carers themselves often go above and beyond their normal duties looking after my mum with respect and dignity. Should there be any concerns, we have very close contact with them and any issues are, therefore, quickly resolved.

Thank you, Thomas, for your glowing review. We are delighted (but not surprised) to hear of our carers exceeding your service expectations - we always aim to please and support our clients to live the very best life they can with our assistance.

While I cannot for one moment find fault with my particular MyLife employee's competence and reliability - you would go far to meet a kinder person on the planet, I would be less than honest in saying the same for the general administration/management in the company's office. The current obsessive requirement to use a mobile phone "app" for clocking in and out is an example of this: quite apart from being a needless frustration for the MyLife employee when a simple mobile phone tracker would serve to check an individual's location, it is an inappropriate intrusion into the already limited period of time allocated to the support of a client/customer/service user. MyLife ought to be working towards a complete IT system overhaul.

Reply from Sue Judge, Business Manager at MyLife Edinburgh
We are pleased to hear that your care experience is very positive with your allocated carer.
We shall review interaction with the app to see if we minimise time spent on this and spend more time with you, supporting your service needs.

Thank you for bring this to our attention.

Overall Experience
The experience of care workers has been positive and support in general. 70% of the care workers have been good or above average in their duties. Co-ordination of the caregivers is variable and sometimes has been lacklustre. Communication of changes to arrangements like different workers or different times is always never done by phone and often has to be read in updated schedules. Changing times or workers is difficult and require constant

re-engagement with the office.

We cannot fault the care you have provided for my elderly mother-in-law, she just adores all the carers who are so loving towards her.
We cannot praise the team enough, they go that extra mile, they are always on time and my mother-in-law loves to see them.

They also spend quality time with her which is valuable to her condition of Dementia. If there are any problems they are in contact with us immediately which is great.
