Most of the time, though, what I need from the assistants who visit me is practical help with keeping my environment safe and uncluttered and clean enough to be healthy. Everyone who has visited has been polite, friendly and helpful. Some clearly prefer the personal, nursing-type aspects of their job. Each and every one has been willing to understand my fixation on the state of my home.
I'm still recovering post-op. so I often attempt tasks that exhaust me and I can't complete everything. The help I get from the home care team ensures that I make the effort to wash myself and motivates me to do small, lightweight jobs. That's essential for my mental welfare. The one small quibble is that I'd prefer the same assistants regularly. It's difficult to remember all the names.
We really appreciate your positive feedback and will gladly pass it on to the team.
My siblings and I have been very pleased with the professional care provided by One Day at a Time Home Care to both of my parents. My parents have informed me that all the staff they have seen are always most helpful and efficient. We are extremely grateful for the work they do. The office is easy to contact and the out of hours service works very well. Very happy to recommend the organisation.
We have used 1 day at a time for the past 3 years & have been very happy with the care provided for my mum. The staff were always friendly & caring & treated my mum wonderfully. No worries at all & very happy to recommend them.
We really appreciate your positive feedback and will gladly pass it on to the team.
My mum had carers in for 4 months from coming out if hospital until she moved to a retirement flat. The care provided was flexible, they were extremely helpful with an ever- shifting moving date, and above all my mum loved all the girls who came to help her. They were all caring and considerate, and happy to talk to her, and patient when she was struggling. Without exception they all brightened her days. Thankyou
Excellent service from the whole team. I have been using One day at a time to look after my Godmother for over six months and they have provided an exceptional service every day, All of the staff are so friendly and professional and they provide all the care needs my Godmother requires. Recently I have had to ask for extra support and everyone has stepped up to provide and care for my Godmother, I cannot thank the team enough it is such a relief to me to know that they are there to support both myself and my Godmother. I can highly recommend them and feel blessed to have them in our lives at such a difficult time. They bring joy, care and support even in the difficult of times and that means the world to my Godmother and me, a sincere heartfelt thank you from us both to the whole wonderful team.
From day one their care has been quite simply exemplary, I could not ask for more. They are professional, caring, friendly - and all at a very fair price. Nothing is too much trouble, if I need help outside my regular call times, they will always find a way to accommodate me.
To sum them up, I'd use the word that is so often missing in this industry - they really care.
We really appreciate your positive feedback and will gladly pass it on to the team.
Thanks to the team at One Day At a Time my father is still living independently at his home despite mobility problems. He could not do this without their daily visits to help him wash and dress and get to bed safely every night. It is a huge help for my dad and provides peace of mind for me. The team have been fantastic and are always available to give guidance or make changes when we need it.
The agency recognises that one of my daughter's basic needs is connection with family and are happy to support her when she comes to visit her aging mum overnight.
my daughter likes a variety of food from different cultures which the carers seem able to cater to.
When my daughter is in a bad mood or disgruntled with something most of the carers are able to calm her down. She has even had various staff from the office calming her down over the phone.
I am kept in the loop when my daughter is going through a difficult time including being upset with me - I am given calls to update me and often to let me know that she is okay which takes a lot of stress away from me.
When my daughter is upset and calls the office, the staff are very patient and understanding with her.
I sense that the owners have strong values pertaining to the health and overall wellbeing of their clients which clearly filters down to the staff.
Excellent service. Happy friendly staff.
I have found all of the ladies to be very willing and would generally rate their care as Good to Excellent(4.5 stars) when dealing with washing and toileting. There have been a couple of very small niggles with one or two. However, this month there have been two incidents which have impressed me about the overall quality of care provided. One lady spotted oral thrush (something I wasn't familiar with) on Friday evening and, as my elderly mother had been off her food, I was able to get an emergency prescription on Saturday. Another lady came to do a morning wash and pad change but then had to contend with a burst stoma bag which wasn't on her list of duties. However, she dealt with it calmly and professionally, even though it put her behind on her schedule. The Care Manager I have dealt with on occasion has always been very helpful and dealt with things very quickly. The majority of the staff I have come into contact with are all very personable.
They are really such a help, taking their time with Mum to make sure she is comfortable and settling her in before they leave.
Have only used these carers for my Mum and Dad since Jan 2025, after hearing about them from a friend who is also using them to look after her elderly parents. From the initial contact form online, they have been excellent. The care manager called for a chat then came and met us all at my parents house. They are great at communicating and have the openpass app so you can see what's happening during the visits. We recently had an emergency where we needed extra care for my Dad and they sorted it out instantly from a single call. I can't thank them enough.
One Day At A Time cared for our mother from March 2022 to her peaceful end at home in September 2024. We would have quickly been out of our depth with her drastic decline if it were not for their care and support. The team were wonderful people who were a comfort and joy to welcome into our home. When mum died, it wasn't just mum that were going to miss. The carers from One Day At A Time will forever be an extended family to us.
The service I have received over the past 3 months plus, has been second to none. Every carer has been wonderful, nothing is ever too much trouble. I would recommend One Day At A Time Home Care Ltd to anyone who is in need of any of the services they offer, without any hesitation. I have been more than 100% satisfied through all the time I have used them.
The office is easy to contact at all times, is also friendly and responds to my queries or requests. My only problem is that I am limited to the latest time at night as it means I can't really go out in the evenings unless I can arrange for a visit after 10 pm. But I do know that this is difficult.
We receive so much confidence and support. We would be poorer without it.
Our main support is a natural, warm, kind, thoughtful soul. She is super professional and just genuinely great.
I could not praise the service any more... 100/10. Five stars.
Every carer we have met from One Day At A Time have been warm, respectful and skilled. Some of the regular carers feel more like family visitors now as they have taken time to really get to know my parents and their routines. The office staff have been easy to get hold of and responsive to our queries and requests. Obviously Mum would prefer not to need help but whilst she does, this agency has delivered above our expectations, particularly following previous experiences with other organisations. For me and my brother, knowing that we can assume that mum is safe and treated with warmth and respect has allowed us to gradually return to our busy lives, and focus on work etc. so that we can become daughter and son again. Priceless.
A special thanks to five carers in particular. All staff are fantastic I would love to name them all, so thank you all.
Highly recommended!
Everyone is very helpful. The hospital recommended and we would highly recommend. We are very happy with the service and all the carers are so caring, always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you very much for all your help.
They attend with smiles and kind words and look after my husband with respect and dignity.

"With a career spanning over a quarter-century, my mission has been to redefine care not as a service, but as a profound human connection."
“I believe that exceptional care is only possible when we have the humility to see the world through the eyes of those we support, particularly children with learning disabilities and Autism, who remain my greatest teachers.”
“My philosophy is rooted in ‘Intentional Happiness.’ One Day At A Time. I advocate for a model where we move beyond clinical requirements to curate small, purposeful moments of joy. By celebrating our diversity and recognising our deep interconnectedness, we do more than deliver support- One Body, Many Parts, we cultivate a culture of lasting fulfilment for both the individual and the caregiver.” “Sharing my journey is about empowering the next generation of care professionals. I mentor others to look past the diagnosis and see the person, teaching them that while we are all different, our shared need for belonging is what binds us. This is the beauty of our world, and it is a privilege to champion it every day.”
