My brother has two half-hour visits each week, This allows me to also visit 2-3 times a week and means my brother is only on his own for a couple of days a week. He is a very private person and does not like visitors, but his worsening memory problems make it important for him to get used to having
carers visit. The cares only do the minimum amount, make tea and sandwich and a bit of washing up. This is perfectly satisfactory.

During a period of recent snow my friend, who is very disabled now, was only visited once in the morning for 2 consecutive days and she had to struggle to get to her kitchen for food. She had no hot food for those 2 days and no one rang me to tell me, even though I live just around the corner and the
company know they are to ring me if there are any problems. The snow was not bad enough to make roads impassable. One carer managed an early morning visit!! This is not good practice. Surely you have a duty of care.

Your friend went without a lunch and tea visit only for one day (1st Feb), that morning C&SW left her with suitable provisions for both meal times and your friend understood the reasons behind this. Please accept our sincere apologies for them not notifying you because this is something they would usually do? We acknowledge that we sometimes don't always get it right. Sorry.

Providers are reasonably on time, cheerful and friendly. They are all very caring and helpful to my wife and treating her with dignity. They are friendly but professional with me and other members of her family. I am sure my wife benefits greatly from each carer visit and the provision is of great benefit
to us all.

I am aware of the 30 minutes rule but would appreciate a phone call to advise any time changes. Also, I note that sometimes the carer has a different time from that on my list of visits. Please advise carers if they arrive early, to enter the house rather than waiting outside.

Thank you for the constructive feedback, we do acknowledge that sometimes we do get it wrong. Wherever reasonably practical to do so, the office or on-call do try to ring the clients if there is a change of time to their visit, however, we work with a 30-minute window buffer to allow for traffic holdups, staff being held up at a previous call etc. This 30-minute window allows a little bit of flexibility in the arrival time of the visit, however, if after 30 mins the staff member has not arrived, then please ring the office to inform them and they will be able to look into why they could be late. In our experience, we have found that staff normally do arrive within that 30-minute window, it's there for if they need it.

Both carers and management are always very helpful. They understand my father's needs. The current carer goes over and above her care for Father and keeps in good contact with me if she is concerned about anything. Very pleased with Candlelight Care and have been using them for approximately 8 years

When using Candlelight Care I have found the experience both straightforward and efficient.
Booking a carer for my mum is handled very well, staff arrive on time and are caring and professional.
In dealing with mum they are kind, engaging and willing to assist in all necessary tasks.
I feel confident
that when I leave mum in their care she is well looked after and enjoys her time with the carers.

I have been so impressed with Candlelight since 2018. The carers have been a very stable team of 4 and although my mother can't remember their names, she does value their visits, as do I. I am very happy to step in when the weather conditions are dangerous for the carers to visit. The staff in the office
know my mother and are always very helpful.

I have found Candlelight Care very helpful in providing carers to sit in with my husband who has Alzheimer's. They have provided excellent and capable staff at all times and have helped when I need an evening service in February.

The carers have been coming to my son who is now in a home and now with my daughter. She makes her day and sings with my daughter and she looks forward to her coming. The carer is worth her weight in gold.

I find all the carers to be friendly and very caring and excellent at their jobs. I look forward every morning to seeing their car park and then my dog gives a little wuff and wait for them to come in. The only thing that isn't put in my review is that staff do not need to do anything to my stoma. I
make sure it is all done and clean before they arrive.

She is passionate about delivering high-quality care and plays a key role in overseeing operational processes to ensure service excellence.


Outside of work, Lorna enjoys nature walks with her dog, baking, and spending quality time with her family.

Mandy

Mandy Shuckford

Mandy is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Corsley branch. Mandy’s role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring the branch runs smoothly, meets performance targets, and delivers a high-quality service.


Mandy ensures that high standards of care are consistently maintained, managing staff performance, client satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Anita Rawlings

Anita is responsible for working alongside her Branch Manager Mandy in ensuring the running of the branches, Meetings, Co-Ordinating, Assessments, Reviews, Observations, taking on new packages and managing staff Annual Leave are, some of the jobs Anita does in her day-to-day life.


Anita is also out and about in the community and oversees the care we provide, ensuring that it always meets our high standards.


Anita has worked in Social Care for over 30 years and has vast experience in both Residential and Community settings, preferring to work in the community.

Karen Templeman

Karen is an Office Administrator covering the Sherborne area and assists her colleagues in ensuring the smooth running of the office.


Before joining Candlelight Care, Karen worked in Estate Agency (Residential Sales and Lettings), working her way up during a 30-year career to become a Director.


Outside of work, Karen's life revolves around her animals, which include numerous dogs, cats, ponies, chickens, and rabbits. She and her family enjoy the social life connected with showing some of the dogs and exhibiting at Crufts every year, where they are able to meet up with their friends from overseas.

I have been a Care Coordinator for 7 years and am passionate about working in the care industry. I coordinate the Sherborne and surrounding area visits, but also support with care visits and being on-call.

Toni Flynn

Lucy joined Candlelight in 2016 as a C&SW after moving to Frome from London. She is now a team leader working in the community and supporting the office team.

Outside work, she enjoys spending time with her teenage children and renovating her home, doing all things DIY! She also loves gardening and doing anything creative.

Teresa O'Toole

Teresa joined Candlelight Care back in 2013, starting as a care and support worker and now as a Team Leader, carrying out staff observations, client reviews and anything else that she is asked to do.


Before Candlelight Care, Teresa worked as a Nanny for over 20 years and travelled overseas with some of the families, too.


Away from her role, Teresa enjoys reading and listening to music and volunteering at her local members' club, where she undertakes some bar shifts.

As a Team Leader Paula helps guide and support the care support workers to do their jobs well. Paula makes sure everyone knows what they need to do, Paula will help solve problems and keep things running smoothly. Paula will also talk with managers to share updates and make sure the team is meeting its goals. A big part of the role is encouraging the team, giving feedback, and helping everyone improve and work well together.


Paula is also part of the On-Call team, providing ongoing support for the care support team and the clients outside of office hours, ensuring all is running smoothly.

As our Recruitment Officer, Roxanne (Roxy) helps us to find new care and support staff to look after our clients in their own homes. In addition to posting new jobs on job sites, social media, and other outlets, she attends recruitment fairs and is constantly looking for ways to improve our recruitment process. She supports our potential new employees from the moment they apply for a job until they are invited for an interview, answering their questions, chasing up CVs and applications, and sometimes meeting for an informal chat in person or on the phone.


Prior to joining Candlelight Care Roxy provided private care on a 1:1 basis for an individual with Downs Syndrome and Dementia in Cornwall, and she has also worked as a ‘Field Supervisor’ (CTM) for a care company in Torbay, supporting a team of care workers with supervisions, spot-checks and medication sign-offs. So she understands the rewards and challenges of care work!

Away from the office, Roxy is a member of the Mere Amateur Dramatics society, which put on two productions a year in the Spring and Autumn. She has always loved performing and studied Acting at University, where she was able to tour regionally and Internationally in their productions.
