We have been very satisfied with our care.
The carers are friendly and chatty and get on with my husband. They point out anything that they find which could be a problem which is helpful.

They arrive on time and manage my husband's care in the allotted time.

All the carers are considerate, respectful and friendly. They encourage Mother and appreciate her needs. The provider has been good at coming forward with suggestions as to how the care can be improved and how Mothers needs can be best supported.

We are very pleased with the service provided. Thank you, and the regular carers are very good and know my parents well now. It is very important to the elderly that they have continuity of carers (except obviously during sickness or holiday periods) and hope this continues.

Many thanks.

Reply from Deb Puxty, at Candlelight Care (Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire)

Thank you for the complimentary review, continuity of care is something our care coordinators take pride in and work very hard to achieve. Continuity of care is important to not just the client themselves but the family too, as it is nicer to have a small core team to get to know.

My brother has two half-hour visits each week, This allows me to also visit 2-3 times a week and means my brother is only on his own for a couple of days a week. He is a very private person and does not like visitors, but his worsening memory problems make it important for him to get used to having carers visit. The cares only do the minimum amount, make tea and sandwich and a bit of washing up. This is perfectly satisfactory.

Reply from Deb Puxty, at Candlelight Care (Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire)

Thank you for submitting this review, please let us know if we could be doing anything more for your brother on his visits, although its good to learn that you and your brother are satisfied with what staff are currently doing. Maybe when he gets to know his core team, he will be acceptable for them to do more?

Overall Experience

During a period of recent snow my friend, who is very disabled now, was only visited once in the morning for 2 consecutive days and she had to struggle to get to her kitchen for food. She had no hot food for those 2 days and no one rang me to tell me, even though I live just around the corner and the company know they are to ring me if there are any problems. The snow was not bad enough to make roads impassable. One carer managed an early morning visit!! This is not good practice. Surely you have a duty of care.

Reply from Deb Puxty, at Candlelight Care (Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire)

Your friend went without a lunch and tea visit only for one day (1st Feb), that morning C&SW left her with suitable provisions for both meal times and your friend understood the reasons behind this. Please accept our sincere apologies for them not notifying you because this is something they would usually do? We acknowledge that we sometimes don't always get it right. Sorry.

Providers are reasonably on time, cheerful and friendly. They are all very caring and helpful to my wife and treating her with dignity. They are friendly but professional with me and other members of her family. I am sure my wife benefits greatly from each carer visit and the provision is of great benefit to us all.

I am aware of the 30 minutes rule but would appreciate a phone call to advise any time changes. Also, I note that sometimes the carer has a different time from that on my list of visits. Please advise carers if they arrive early, to enter the house rather than waiting outside.

Reply from Deb Puxty, at Candlelight Care (Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire)

Thank you for the constructive feedback, we do acknowledge that sometimes we do get it wrong. Wherever reasonably practical to do so, the office or on-call do try to ring the clients if there is a change of time to their visit, however, we work with a 30-minute window buffer to allow for traffic...

Both carers and management are always very helpful. They understand my father's needs. Very pleased with Candlelight Care and have been using them for approximately 8 years now.

When using Candlelight Care I have found the experience both straightforward and efficient.
Booking a carer for my mum is handled very well, staff arrive on time and are caring and professional.
In dealing with mum they are kind, engaging and willing to assist in all necessary tasks.

I feel confident that when I leave mum in their care she is well looked after and enjoys her time with the carers.

I have been so impressed with Candlelight since 2018. The carers have been a very stable team of 4 and although my mother can't remember their names, she does value their visits, as do I. I am very happy to step in when the weather conditions are dangerous for the carers to visit. The staff in the office know my mother and are always very helpful.

Reply from Deb Puxty, at Candlelight Care (Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire)

Thank you for the lovely compliment, we are pleased that a stable team of 4 have been visiting as continuity of care is very important to us as a Company. Thank you for understanding our difficulties when we are hit with adverse weather conditions - all our staff are amazing when they brave the elements to ensure essential visits are delivered.
