We have been using Christies carers for 18 months. Overall they have been very good, a few of the carers have been simply outstanding and my father was very sorry to see them leave. Most were caring, thoughtful, friendly, a real help to my father. One or two carers did fall short of expectations and this was duly noted by Christies who were quite thorough in follow-ups. My only criticism would be that handovers were sometimes far too brief, with the departing carer eager to leave before having fully explained the daily routine to the incoming carer. But generally, it has been good, and I feel my father is being well looked after.
Christies Care provided an exceptional service for our friend. This is the second time we had used the agency (an earlier occasion over three years for a relative). Both occasions, each over a long period, were brilliantly managed. The regular checking by the area supervisor was an excellent backstop. There were no occasions when the care provision faltered; carers changed seamlessly with a very good handover. The agency ensured that carers who were trusted by the elderly client were on a rota. At the end of the most recent period, they provided an additional carer so that the client could remain in her own home. Communications with the organisation team were always reassuring, totally helpful and with a positive outcome.
My wife has used Christies Care for the past nearly 8 years. We were recommended initially by the Local Authority.
We have found every aspect of the service extremely helpful and would have no difficulty in recommending it to others.
In particular, we have found the carers helpful and caring at all times.
My client would (if a little more receptive) benefit from the personalised approach which Christies apply in selecting carers for their bookings by trying to get the 'chemistry' right and we have found Christies approach to be pro-active, which compares favourably with that of other similar providers.
My husband and I trust them completely and my mother really enjoys having them for their good company and humour as well as care. The Christies team have always been able to help and to find the right people.
Christies fits well with an active, busy lifestyle, always there when I need them. They are always there and there are no time restraints.
Christies have been providing carers for my mother for the last few years - they are always quick to respond to feedback and my mother has developed good relationships with many of the carers.
We have been using the services of Christies Care for three years which has enabled my mother to remain in her home after having a severe stroke. The carers and the management staff are very professional and provide a high standard of care. From a financial point of view, all of my mother's care costs have been covered in the monthly fee which makes it easy to budget and administratively easy. Regular training for their carers and regular review visits by management make for a very reassuring experience. When a problem does arise, which is rare, it is quickly resolved. I would thoroughly recommend Christies Care.
Christies provided carers to look after my parents when my mother had cancer. After my mother died they provided care for my father until he died. All the carers they provided were excellent. There were two in particular who were fantastic - providing excellent care for our parents and support to my sister and me. They made a very hard time easier. We used other agencies before Christies and Christies was by far the best and also the best value. I cannot recommend them enough.
Administration very efficient. Detailed care plans produced. Most carers good, a few have been exceptional. Have struggled with continuity, aiming for a Rota of about 4, currently have had nearly a dozen and only 2 booked to come back regularly. Been using Christies since Spring 2018.
The changes of carer are well organised and take place smoothly and without any need for my involvement. I have confidence that each new carer will be entirely reliable and effective and well briefed by previous carers. This takes a weight off my mind as I know my mother is being well looked after and means when I visit I can spend quality time with mum knowing everything else is under control.
The management team are efficient, friendly and understanding. Carers are well trained and, on the whole, have my mum’s best interests at the heart of all they do.
I strongly recommend Christies as they provided excellent live in care for both of parents in their final years. They treated them with compassion and dignity and I don't feel the care provided could have been any better.
The service provided has always been reliable and the carers have been understanding of mum's needs and treated her with respect.
We needed care for my 86 year old father. Christies provided 24 hours live in carers. The carers we all excellent, the office staff were excellent.
Re management, more needs to be done to encourage people that Scotland is not “off the end of the World” and to match breaks to known carers’ availability. We got the hang of this at the end, where messaging the good relief carers matched their availability to our carer’s break needs! Good luck - need to publicise more to local authorities the home care possibilities. Most people still don’t realise it is an option.
We only had a couple of carers over the whole period whom I would not recommend.
The initial phase when carers changed frequently was difficult for my Mum to adjust to, but after a while, the same carers returned bringing their experience and knowledge of Mum to make it all work.
The most frequent carers, all had a great sense of humour and adapted so much to make all the little things work.
It was a pleasure to work with them and we as a family are so grateful for all that the Christies agency and carers did for our Mum.
Because of them, she was able to stay in her own home until the end, which made us all very happy.
All the staff involved with mum were very caring and well trained. They were able to contact the office for advice when needed and dealt efficiently with the doctor's surgery, nurses etc. Came up with good suggestions eg dry hair wash which I was unaware of. They were also very supportive towards the family as mum's life came to an end.
The slight downside of the service was the initial constant change of personnel but I appreciate that it was difficult to staff at first and this did improve.
The care that my father received was excellent especially in the last few days of his life when the carers showed great compassion and kindness not only to him but also to my sister and me.
When we were given the unexpected news that mum had cancer and only weeks to live all we wanted was to fulfil her wishes. Her main wish was to be at home and with Christies and the wonderful carer we were provided we able to do that.
The carer we were provided was so lovely, by the time mum passed 7 weeks later she was part of the family and our contact at the office has gone above and beyond her duties and made a very difficult time much easier.
I would recommend Christies to anyone looking for a live-in carer. The service we received was 5 star!
