The staff are always pleasant and take time to converse with my husband who has Vascular Dementia and is not easy to understand.
The staff will make sure that he has food and drink as and when he asks for it.
They are also happy with my 2 small dogs and cat!
I am relaxed and confident when I go out that my husband is receiving good care.
Every one of the staff that comes into my home treats us with total respect, which is a rarity these days.
It is very important that we can trust them all 100%.
Without their service and care, sitting with my 93year old mum with Dementia, I could not leave the house.
They are on time and have very rarely missed a call, they are kind to my mother and treat her with respect and dignity.
They have person-centred care down to a 'T'
Crossroads carers have been coming to my home to care for my husband so that I am able to do shopping, dentist, visit friends, help my mother and spend time with my granddaughter since 2008. I had a family wedding and needed care for my husband otherwise, I would not have gone to my niece's wedding. Over the years it has built up to 1 day a week and 1 Saturday every 2 weeks. I look forward to these days as it gives me a break and having the same carers all this time is excellent for my husband.
There are times when the service is let down by inconsistencies of usual time slots e.g the Monday slot may be attended and we will not be informed until Friday/Saturday, this make it difficult to plan ahead.
The majority of carers provided were punctual and efficient in their duties, however, the experience of each individual varied from 2-3 weeks to years. The lack of continuity was unsettling for my wife who has Alzheimers. She could only be comfortable with two carers, but their visits were sporadic and interspersed with young, inexperienced carers who were unable to connect. The two experienced carers were excellent at communicating and understanding my wife's needs. This does not imply that the younger carers would not improve over time.
Since my husband had his stroke May 29th 2011, it's been hard as I'm the main carer, you don't realise how hard it is until it happens to someone close to you, your life changes overnight. Although we have the family, they have their own families to worry about so without the help and care of Carers Trust (Carmarthenshire Crossroads Care Sir Gar) coming into our home, I wouldn't be able to go to appointments or meet up with friends and just chill out over a coffee etc. The main two carers that come and sit with my husband understand and know him and he has taken to them which is good for all concerned, I don't have to worry while I'm out as I know he's safe. I really do appreciate them coming twice a week. I honestly couldn't do without their help.
Extremely helpful and friendly.
Crossroads carers are all well trained and capable of delivering a high-quality service. All the carers we have from Crossroads are excellent and do their very best in the care they deliver. As a service, this is invaluable to us as parents, knowing you are able to leave our boys in capable, loving hands.
Long may this continue to be the case.
Crossroads Care Sir Gar go above and beyond all expectations.
I've been a full-time carer 168 hours a week for 27 years. I now have critical and chronic health problems and disabilities. My GP had ordered me to have medical respite each year. My carer from Crossroads stepped in to do my care plan for 2 weeks. Could not have asked for better.
