During our time receiving respite hours via Carers Trust we have found our support worker extremely reliable and engaging. Would recommend the services offered. We are sad that the rules have changed and we are now not eligible for this valuable and essential service.
Reply from Emma Hartley, Director of Operations at Carers Trust Mid Yorkshire

Good afternoon, thank you for your kind words towards our staff and service. We appreciate you are no longer accessing the funded service as your circumstances may have changed, unfortunately the decision was out of our control but has no bearing on the service we deliver.

Service has been excellent. Our current carer has gone out of her way to help us. The carer shows initiative and provides a range of activity for the client. At all times the carers have been good and they come regularly. When a substitute is provided these are often passive and not trusted by client.
Management has been helpful with the odd blip. On the whole they service provided has given a lifeline to the client.

I have always found the centre to be welcoming to their clients, making them feel valued. Staff display enthusiasm in accepting clients of various abilities. Nothing is too much trouble for them to deal with in making the few hours they are there an enjoyable experience handled with care. Clients are
stimulated with various activities to make their attendance as interesting as is possible. I therefore, have no hesitation in recommending the centre as I find it clean, comfortable seating, good facilities and extremely nice staff.
It's a pleasure to have my husband attend the centre because he enjoys going, and as a carer, I feel just as valued by the staff of the day.

The carers staff are unfailingly kind and cheerful. However because of cuts three excellent staff have left or been redeployed which has confused my husband. The cut in hours, explained as a minor change by management means that effectively sessions are now 3 1/2 hours long instead of four, and the
hard-working staff have lost money. I would have considered a rise in charges.
Reply from Emma Hartley, Director of Operations at Carers Trust Mid Yorkshire

Thankyou for the kind words about our team and day centre service. It is correct that the service has been slightly modified this year but to the significant benefit of the people of Kirklees. The Day Centre is providing significantly more hours this year. In 2024/25 we provided 5000 hrs of Day Centre care but his year, 2025/26 we will provide 7000 hours of Day Centre service and this is at 4 hours per client per day; a significant uplift in our service. Thank you for your support.

Absolutely amazing service for my mum. She really enjoys coming and the staff are extremely helpful and caring. Mum is slowly meeting new people and always comes home with a smile. My only negative point and not sure if any one else has mentioned is my mum strugles to walk up the slanted drive way,a
hand rail might be uselful if possible otherwise please keep up the excellent work and we will keep coming.

I have found Carers Trust very reliable and helpful. It has really made a difference for my son to have regular trips out with his Personal Assistant, improving his confidence and independence. I would be happy to recommend the service to other parents looking for support to get their young people

I had extreme help from Carers Trust Crossroads. My husband is sadly not wishing care, today was such a success. The gentleman that came was here a long while as I was at hospital. I could tell my husband was happy when I phoned. He felt he was so helpful in getting food and drinks etc, also gave him
confidence to talk, lots in common. A day later, still telling me he enjoyed the chat and says 'such a nice man' many times. I am so thankful.
Reply from Alison Harries, Chief Executive at Carers Trust Crossroads West Wales

Thank you so much for your kind words. It means a lot to hear that your husband had such a positive experience with the care provided by Carers Trust Crossroads. We understand how important it is to find someone who can not only assist with daily needs but also connect on a personal level. It's wonderful to hear that our member of staff who visited helped make your day at the hospital less stressful, and that your husband enjoyed the company and conversation so much. We're truly grateful for your feedback, and we'll be sure to share it with our team.

I cannot thank Crossroads enough, I care for both my parents 90 and 95. I don't have carers coming in daily so the help I get from the staff at Crossroads is priceless. Those hours that my parents are looked after give me a chance to catch up on much-needed sleep or just for myself and my partner to
go out and have a cuppa. My parents have become very familiar with two of the staff and look forward to their visits each week.
Reply from Alison Harries, Chief Executive at Carers Trust Crossroads West Wales

It's heart-warming to hear how much the support from Crossroads has positively impacted your life, and your parents', well-being. It sounds like our care and support not only offer your parents comfort and familiarity but also provide you with crucial time to recharge and take care of yourself. Caring can be overwhelming, and having reliable support like this can make such a difference. Your words show just how valuable their service is to you and your family. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the staff. Best wishes.

My son has complex medical needs as well as learning disabilities.
He goes out twice a week with either 3 members of staff. All of them are friendly, kind, and reliable. I feel safe letting my boy go out with them knowing they'll keep him safe while encouraging him to take risks and make decisions.
His social skills have started to improve with adults and he's also made friends with other service users, which he finds very difficult.
Communication is good when things change and I'm always well informed. I also feel I can reach out to staff if needed. Crossroads has been flexible with dates and times and always tries to accommodate requests.
We are happy with the service we receive.
Overall we would certainly recommend the service to anyone.
I can't comment on value for money as our package is funded by the local authority however I will say all of the staff we've met are very knowledgeable, supportive, and understanding.

The care received by my mother has been excellent. I cannot praise the ladies who look after Mum highly enough as they are compassionate towards her and treat her with dignity. They engage with her and listen attentively to her life stories.
The ladies in the Office are very facilitation; at the beginning,
some of the carers were not a good match for Mum and if I mentioned this to the ladies in the Office, they wouldn't send that person again.
I would highly recommend Crossroads to everyone and would like to express my since gratitude to all concerned for allowing me to have a respite from caring.

We have found Crossroads a godsend, our lives have become much more manageable, having the reassurance that when I go out my husband is being looked after, he also enjoys the time he spends with the sitter having a chat and getting to know them. I have found the time I get to myself enables me to come
home and spend time with my husband and chat about where I have been and this makes him happy that I can do things for myself. We are both so grateful for the help we get.

I am very happy with Crossroads. The company have been a huge help to me and my aunt. I know that my aunt enjoys and appreciates their visits and being taken out especially.
Their communication is excellent i.e weekly timesheets and any changes are pointed out in advance when possible. The staff are
flexible and adaptable. The service provided is excellent and gives me great peace of mind. Thank you seems an inadequate thing to say.

My mother had a very bad fall during the night on the landing of her home. Her carer, who works for Crossroads, found her in the morning. The carer immediately contacted the emergency services and the family and provided Mum with care, support and comfort until emergency services arrived. The carer
also assisted the emergency services, kept Mum calm and explained what was happening so she was not afraid. The carer was highly professional, competent and obviously well trained.
