The carers are marvelous visitors for Daddy. They are kind and considerate, treat him with respect, do whatever they can to be helpful and are aways open to any comments, for example, making smaller sandwiches to tempt him to eat at night. There is often not that much to do so we appreciate them sitting and chatting with Daddy as the company is always welcome.

I called upon Radfield for help when I could no longer care for my husband myself. He had suffered a stroke and had terminal cancer. Without exception, all the Radfield carers were kind and considerate in their care of my husband. In the end, some felt like friends and their experience of similar situations was enormously helpful to me. I was very impressed with how they reacted to the decline in his health, changing the way they dealt with him accordingly. It has been a very hard and sad time for me and my family but we are grateful for Radfield's support in enabling us to look after my husband at home until the very end.

Radfield have been brilliant at looking after my elderly Dad who is 94 and suffers from a bit of dementia. They would ring me if they had any concerns and they went out of their way to make his life easier. They would do all sorts of odd jobs for him that he asked. I was totally at ease knowing they were going to see him every day. If I ever needed to contact the office they were always very professional and responsive. Can't recommend them highly enough.

His skin is in excellent condition largely due to the diligent application of various creams and they are quick to point out any areas of concern. This is particularly important considering his lack of mobility.
As his illness progresses his care needs keep changing and these have always been accommodated to suit.
Whenever I have had reason to contact the office I have been dealt with promptly and efficiently which comes from the good management which is very evident.
My husband attends Radfield Day Centre once a week and though he contributes less and less due to his illness he is still happy to attend which is great for both of us.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Radfield if asked.

My father was incredibly impressed with the professional yet friendly attitude of the staff. I wholeheartedly agree, the staff I met when visiting my father were unfailingly professional and friendly and treated my father with great kindness until he sadly died on February 17th, 2023. Indeed my father spoke warmly of his carers. The admin staff were always very helpful when I called on them for advice.

Upon arrival, they announce who they are, say a polite and friendly hello to my wife and myself and ask how our day has been. They then excuse themselves whilst they visit the bathroom to wash their hands and prepare for their rota. They then perform their duties, conversing with my wife and ensuring she is happy, satisfied and comfortable. They will share their experiences that day with us and always want to hear what my wife has been up to - being particularly happy and relieved if it is a day that has been without a fall.
When their rota is complete, they wish her a safe and happy night's sleep.

So impressed with Mum’s care team who still managed to make all three of her calls yesterday despite the dreadful and treacherous snowy conditions. The carers are kind, compassionate and helpful.
Mom also attends a day centre where she does arts and crafts, quizzes, gets to socially interact. Lunch and snacks and transport are provided.

Due to the professionalism, understanding and efficiency of Radfield Home Care, my 90-year-old mum has been able to return to her own home within 24 hours notice. The Management team were superb, arranging a care package to holistically meet my mum's individual needs. All the carers were very helpful and friendly, and willing to do a variety of tasks, as requested. They were extremely reliable at coming at, or very near, the stated time. The management team are fantastic and often go the extra mile to help, even doing laundry for my grandmother when a family bereavement made things difficult for me. Managers call me to keep me informed and make me feel as if I am in touch with my grandmother even though I live on the other side of the country.

Meet the Team (3)
We would like to introduce you to Karen, Operations Manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry. Karen supports, manages, guides and directs the care management team and undertakes business development work in the local communities that the office services.
Karen joined Radfield as an Operations Manager in February 2021 having spent over 35 years within the retail and customer service sector, most recently as a department store manager for a well-known high street store. Alongside this, Karen worked with various different charities, befriending societies, community groups and local care homes, making her best placed to take up the role of Operations Manager.
We would like to introduce you to Gemma Baugh, Registered Care Manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry. Gemma is responsible for liaising with clients, families and professionals to manage care needs and staff deployment, the creation and management of the rotas for clients and carers, and fundamentally, the safe running of the office.
Gemma explains her path to Registered Care Manager:
“I am a mother of 6 children, all of which are home-educated, and I previously worked as a vending operator filling the machines in hospitals and HMRC offices. I left to take care of my Nan who moved in with me when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. When my Nan passed away, I went into domiciliary care as I wanted to provide care for people’s loved ones as I did with my Nan. I then moved from Telford to Shrewsbury, where I applied to Radfield to be a Care Professional. I have made some great relationships with both the clients and the other Radfield colleagues. Things really took off from there, and I have had the opportunity to work in our branch office, as the Care Coordinator. And recently I have been fortunate to be appointed as the Care Manager, and all the while, undertaking my Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care alongside this – so there are plenty of opportunities to progress in the Social Care sector.”
Since joining Radfield as a Care Professional back in April 2022, Gemma’s experience and passion have proved so important:
“I feel I have lots of experience within the sector after working in the care sector for some time both personally with my Nan and with a company like Radfield. I’ve been fortunate to be able to work with a wide range of clients and care professionals, understanding their needs, and trying to build fulfilling relationships to ensure the best care for our people.
I have a passion for giving people the best quality of life they can have to be able to live an in-depth, independent life how they want to, especially after having family members go through difficult times and having some unprofessional experiences with other agencies. I always aim for continuity when coordinating our care, maximising our time with our clients and minimising our travel and waiting times.”
We would like to introduce you to Rachel, Recruitment & Training Manager for Shrewsbury & Oswestry.
I have over five years of experience in the health and social care sector. I began my career at Prestige Nursing & Care as a Branch Recruiter in Shrewsbury and Staffordshire, responsible for sourcing and onboarding care professionals. I was later promoted to Talent & Resource Lead at Head Office, managing recruitment for all permanent and fixed-term roles nationwide, including clinical positions, and working closely with branch managers and senior leadership.
Before this, I worked for a specialist education recruitment agency, placing teachers and support staff in schools across Shropshire. This gave me valuable experience with high-volume recruitment, compliance, and building strong relationships in both the education and care sectors.
My experience has given me both sector knowledge and recruitment expertise, which are essential for supporting Radfield Home Care as a high-quality care provider.
Personal experiences with my own family inspired my career in healthcare. Seeing the skill and compassion of care professionals made me appreciate their profound impact. The positive difference they made motivated me to work in a sector where empathy and expertise can transform lives.
