On the whole, I'm very happy with the care provided by Somerset Care Community Services. On a few occasions, the carers have arrived later than arranged so I go on and tend to myself as I don't like to stay in my night clothes after 8.30 am. Apart from that, I'm very content with the carers and the
care that I receive.

My care started from leaving a nursing home after hospitalisation with heart problems. My son and daughter arranged my care when leaving the home. I have already had Somerset Care to look after my wife, who has since died from Covid. The givers, therefore, are in effect, old friends, and it is always
a delight to see them mornings and evenings. Always happy to go the extra mile, like bits of local shopping oh, in effect, a connection to the outside world.

My mother was a client of Somerset Care for over 8-years and on the whole, received good service. If any problems did occur, they were soon sorted by a quick phone call. Many of the carers were more like friends and were a great support to myself and family. My mum died at home in October, which was
her wish. Without the dedication of the care team, this would not have been possible due to Covid and staff shortages, but they went above and beyond to keep her safe and comfortable in her last days.

Since suffering a spinal injury 25-years ago I have been brilliantly cared for at home by Somersetcare Care Community Services.
The care I have been given has meant I could continue my life at home in dignity and as normal as way as possible. Smiling, happy staff make my days so much brighter, and
they are all angels without wings.
I have recommended them to others who are seeking care and will continue to do so.

The carers are absolutely wonderful and my son gets on well with them. The management could be a lot better. When we first had carers for the first several years, it was the same time very morning, between 7.30 and 8 am. Now it is anytime from 7 am onwards, which my son doesn't like - he is a man of
routine.

Our carer is primarily here to wash my husband but she does so much more - by having conversations with him while bathing him, asking him questions and leading him gently into using his brain! Anyone who has covered for our usual carer has been equally kind and efficient. Management has been equally
kind and considerate. When I have phoned the office to let them know about changes in routine, my call has been answered quickly and the situation dealt with.

My experience with my carers has been first class. They always arrive on time with a warm welcome and always a smile. They were first class and more than willing to help. Now they have finished I will miss them very much. A big thank you to all the staff.

I had personal care for six months after coming out of hospital, and during a four-month course of chemotherapy. This was initially for 30 minutes morning and evening, after two months just mornings.

A core of some four or five carers came regularly, others occasionally. Inevitably they varied in

their approach - most patiently encouraged me to do as much for myself as possible, one or two tended to take over and gave the impression they were in a hurry to complete the tasks. Some were chatty, others more reticent. In general, the care was good and reasonably consistent, and the staff friendly.

The most frustrating aspect was that they rarely came at the planned time. Some phoned to let us know if they would be delayed, which was helpful, others didn't. Sometimes the planned times were altered - management were apparently supposed to let us know but didn't.

A carer is an appropriate name for the people who attend on my mother as they are the most wonderfully caring, helpful and competent people. They are given enough time to carry out what is required and always do so carefully and in a friendly and warm manner. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

All the Carers who came were kind, friendly and helpful. Only one, who only came once, was not quite accurate in writing in the time she spent here. Having been given times when Carers were expected, it would have been helpful to have been told if these had had to be drastically altered due to unforeseen
circumstances (this only happened twice). All in all, my husband was very well looked after by some lovely people.

Care usually pretty good but varies amongst the carers. Very good carers excellent but some poor and need experience. My age is above the average I would have thought (almost 96) and maybe the reason for any criticism. This type of life is not easy to accept.

Somerset Care Community Services have looked after my husband for 3 and 1/2 years and his care has been superb. He enjoyed the banter with the girls and relaxed in their company. The Carers were a great help to me too, which is also important. You have a great team working for you. Thank you.

On extended care home stay of seven months, following 3 falls and viral pneumonia. Now receiving homecare package, with twice daily half-hour visits. Many different Carers, sometimes stipulated times not met.

I feel that some carers are always in a rush and do not stay the full half hour paid for. Other carers are very attentive and do everything they can to help.

Somerset Care Community Services have given a wonderful service to my husband and allowed him to stay at home until he died. The Carers looked after him so well but also gave support to myself and my son.
The care was totally professional and he was treated with dignity and humour, which was what
he enjoyed. Our thanks to all at Somerset Care Community Services.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.954)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.954) out of 10 for Somerset Care Community Services is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.704 for Somerset Care Community Services is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 27 Ratings = 4.704
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Somerset Care Community Services is based on 4 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 = 4.25
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
