Somerset Care’s Community Services in Taunton Deane, Minehead and West Somerset offer personalised care and support services to people living in their own homes.

A team of skilled care and support staff carry out personal care, dementia support and rehabilitation support on both a long and short-term basis.

A dementia active living centre in Taunton is also available to provide activities during the day for people living with dementia as part of Somerset Care's Petals service.

All the Carers who came were kind, friendly and helpful. Only one, who only came once, was not quite accurate in writing in the time she spent here. Having been given times when Carers were expected, it would have been helpful to have been told if these had had to be drastically altered due to unforeseen
circumstances (this only happened twice). All in all, my husband was very well looked after by some lovely people.

Care usually pretty good but varies amongst the carers. Very good carers excellent but some poor and need experience. My age is above the average I would have thought (almost 96) and maybe the reason for any criticism. This type of life is not easy to accept.

Somerset Care Community Services have looked after my husband for 3 and 1/2 years and his care has been superb. He enjoyed the banter with the girls and relaxed in their company. The Carers were a great help to me too, which is also important. You have a great team working for you. Thank you.

On extended care home stay of seven months, following 3 falls and viral pneumonia. Now receiving homecare package, with twice daily half-hour visits. Many different Carers, sometimes stipulated times not met.

I feel that some carers are always in a rush and do not stay the full half hour paid for. Other carers are very attentive and do everything they can to help.

Somerset Care Community Services have given a wonderful service to my husband and allowed him to stay at home until he died. The Carers looked after him so well but also gave support to myself and my son.
The care was totally professional and he was treated with dignity and humour, which was what
he enjoyed. Our thanks to all at Somerset Care Community Services.

I have been having care provided by Somerset Care for many years now. My carers have always treated me with respect and kindness and gone out of their way to help in times of trouble (when I am in a great deal of pain).
When I wanted to have my care at a different time, the office did their best to
help. As long as people don't expect changes to be sorted immediately. Every carer has their weekly sheet which has to be adhered to. However, patience has always been rewarded!

The service provided by Somerset Care ensures that I can (safely) enjoy a daily shower and be assisted to get dressed in an efficient manner and avoid imposing an unacceptable burden on my wife.
Our only criticism of the service so far has been not knowing when the Carer would arrive, what not to start
doing in the waiting time.

Somerset Care came to my aid when I was confined to bed and has no other help.
Carers came morning and evening until I recovered.
I know that they can come again whenever I need help.

All carers are polite and caring and do an extremely difficult job and I am happy with the way they talk and behave when caring for my husband.


Sometimes, their timings are a bit "off" but I have to take into consideration that the length of calls may vary. All together as far as someone's care and

diligence is concerned, it is very satisfactory.

We started using Somerset Care in late September this year. Since the beginning, we have had a total of 14 different carers but over the last few weeks, this has settled to the same 5 or 6 carers. As with any organisation, all the carers are good but some are exceptional.

I am pleased with the service, the staff are friendly. It helps me to relax to know my husband is in good hands.


The only thing that gets to me is if someone is ill and they need to replace that person they do not ring me, it is always me that has to ring them. We all know these things happen, so

just ring me to let me know.

I find the daily visit very comforting to know that I can get help in washing and dressing. At this time my health is reasonable and my care fairly light but I notice that my osteoporosis is gradually getting worse and giving me more pain and less mobility, it's a comfort to know that help will be there
when I need it, from home care with very caring people coming in daily.

All the carers we have had are very considerate and treat my husband with kindness and allow him his dignity.
They always ask how I am and if there is anything else we need.
The only thing I would suggest is the rounds are better organised so the carers don't have to travel from one side to the other
with very little travel time.
