Tendacare is an established local homecare organisation of over 30 years that provides homecare visits to adults who are generally older and/or disabled living in the neighbouring areas of Great Bookham, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom. Many of the staff work proudly for Tendacare and have done for many years because they really understand person-centred care, independence and dignity.

Following discussion and a non-obligatory assessment by an experienced assessor, visits can be arranged from half an hour and increased in quarter of an hour time blocks as required. Clients can receive as much or as little care as they wish, from once a fortnight to five times a day with two care staff if needed. Tendacare staff are flexible and responsive to clients’ needs and use careful planning to provide a tailored service that considers clients’ commitments and appointments.

The wonderful Tendacare team have made it possible for my aunt to continue to live at home despite her increasing frailty and requirement for personal care. This independence is extremely important to her and so we are both grateful for all that Tendacare does. ALL of the staff are knowledgeable, patient,
caring and friendly.
The carers never know what to expect when they walk in the door. Unfailingly they adapt and deal professionally with situations ranging from the mundane to emergency, from a general tidy-up to serious scrubbing, from humorous to downright confusing.
Whatever they are faced with the carers are always respectful. My aunt enjoys each visit and looks forward to the cheerful chats.

My elderly mother had been using Tendacare to enable her to stay independent at home. Initially, this consisted of a twice weekly personal hygiene visit.
Early this year my mother spent a spell in hospital and required constant home support upon discharge. Tendacare attended to her needs by visiting
4 times a day for about 6 weeks. Throughout, the friendly and professional approach by each of the Tendacare staff was remarkable and engendered strong confidence in their ability. Staff always explained any issues to family members.
Unfortunately, my mother was terminally ill but Tendacare were very compassionate and certainly made my mother's last weeks as comfortable and dignified as possible.
I can not praise Tendacare enough and anyone using their services are certainly getting very professional carers.
The App was very helpful to track visits and get feedback. Lastly, I cannot say how much it meant to our family to have three members of staff attend my mother's funeral.

Tendacare helped me shower and wash my hair. I was diagnosed with cancer, so I felt very weak. Tendacare staff were there for me to help do things that I found difficult. They were always kind and thoughtful and helped me through this tough time.

My husband needed help in the mornings to shower and dress. As Tendacare had helped both my mother and then my father with great care and respect in previous years, I had no hesitation in contacting them again.
The App they now use was very helpful so we always knew in advance the time, and who, was
coming. The carers were lovely, extremely helpful and kind, and very good at chatting to and boosting the confidence of my husband. Sadly my husband ended up in hospital and passed away in May but he was always very grateful for the support given by the carers. I was able to go out on occasion in the mornings and leave him, knowing that when I came back he would be showered, dressed and have been given his breakfast. I would recommend Tendacare to anyone needing help with care.

When mum needed help to stay at home I was recommended to Tendacare. For almost 3 years they have been looking after mum, initially once, then twice and latterly 3 times daily. I have met about 6 of their carers personally and have regular reviews with the Manager. Their service has been nothing short
of excellent, reliable and genuinely caring. They also use this great App that allows me to see how mum is doing and when her next visit is, which is fabulous.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them wholeheartedly.

When my mother needed daily care visits to support her to continue living in her own home, I was recommended to try Tendacare. My mother has now passed away after a short illness, but in turn, I would completely recommend this company to anyone else looking for private carer visits in the area. I met
several of the carers when I was visiting my mother, all were kind, patient and friendly, and willing to carry out any requirements - giving medication, personal care, preparing meals, keeping the house tidy and clean - but most importantly, having the time for a friendly chat. The office staff were also friendly, helpful and efficient. I was so impressed and very grateful.

Have had experience of several agencies both through caring for three elderly relationships over time, latest being Mum. Tendacare looked after Mum brilliantly until care stopped when she went into hospital after a fall early December. It's a great regret to us that Mum's financial position and need
to double care following hospitalisation, means that we have had to look for cheaper domiciliary service. We will miss the heart, care and expertise from the Tendacare team from admin through to front-end. No hesitation in saying to potential new users: 'start with Tendacare!'.

Tendacare looked after my Grandmother for a number of years, initially they provided assistance with bathing and, as she grew older and frailer, their visits gradually increased to twice a day helping with food, drinks, medication and some company. All of the staff were very well-trained, friendly and
caring, my Grandmother appreciated their visits and it gave us peace of mind. Tendacare's communication was excellent from both staff and management, especially since the introduction of their app which provides details of their visits straight away. They clearly did a good job as they enabled my Grandmother to live on her own past the age of 100, we couldn't be more grateful for all their help and advice and would happily recommend them to friends.

We were recommended Tendacare and we are so happy we used them. Mum has only had good words to say about you. The carers coming out were always kind, courteous, and respectful and couldn't do enough to help. The staff in the office were always helpful changing days and times. Always letting Mum know
if carers were unable to get to her on time.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone and use it again if needed. Thank you to all the staff!

The staff of Tendacare were all lovely with my mum. They made her feel very comfortable in the situation she found herself in. The carers made the family happy to know that Mum was being looked after, so she could stay in her own home. We were kept informed if there were any problems with Mum's health

I am a carer for my husband. I was going into hospital for surgery. Tendacare were extremely adaptable to our changing needs. They were able to help us on each step of this journey. We really appreciated their respect and great attention to detail. They were willing to help with all we asked.

Very professional, staff friendly and my father got great care from every member of staff. He enjoyed chatting to the staff and they always put him at ease.

Carers came at the agreed time. Mum was happy with the care she received – she is very independent and just asked for small tasks to be done and then just had a chat. Very grateful to Tendacare as for her to come home from the hospital it was a stipulation that she had carers. Would happily use again.

My mum has mixed dementia, we had a carer every morning and evening from Tendacare. All staff were really good with mum, kind and patient. However, the lady that came every morning didn't seem to understand that because mum has dementia she would often take off her pads at night. Instead, she made accusations
to my siblings claiming I left my mum in wet soiled clothes when I did not. Despite me asking Tendacare not to have contact with my siblings the accusations continued causing a rift between me and my siblings. Mum is now in a care home leaving my 83-year-old dad heartbroken. Tendacare does an excellent job of care but management needs to be mindful of the communications their staff have with family members. While I accept they have a duty of care serious consideration needs to be made before making accusations. I am disappointed that the carer didn't feel able to speak to me instead of assuming things.

I used Tendacare for the first time after my mum died as we needed a couple of hours care a day for my dad and the agency that looked after my mum had no availability so I looked locally at alternative providers. Now I really wish we'd used Tendacare for Mum's care as well.
The team were amazing,
they conducted the initial house visit assessment, they listened carefully to my dad, spoke to him rather than me and ensured he was comfortable with the support. He had a core team of 3 carers and got to know them all well, they accepted his quirky-ness and the rigidity of his daily routine without batting an eyelid. Towards the end of his life when we required additional support this was provided at short notice. We had access to an app which was updated promptly after each visit so we could see what had been needed. The team were truly outstanding and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The carer's timekeeping is very good. They are always pleasant, friendly and good at listening. They ask if I want any extra help. I feel clean, refreshed and tidy after their visits. I am satisfied with the office contact if anything changes.

I turned to Tendacare when my wife became chronically ill because they had attended to my neighbour for many years and she spoke highly of their care reliability and professionalism. I did not regret my decision. The staff were always friendly, cheerful, caring and knew their job. They always told my
wife what they were going to do and also kept me in the loop. They never seemed to be rushed. They had time for us both. Communication was also good with the office. I have nothing but praise for Tendacare and wish them well. A carer and staff member both came to her funeral. So kind and so thoughtful.

My name is Sue Smith and I am the owner and registered manager of Tendacare.
It is over 30 years since I had the 'dream' of having my own business. When leaving school I trained as a nurse and after a few years of working in various staff nursing posts, I became a district nurse and worked in the community.
During this time I could see there was a need arising for people to be able to organise and be in control of the support they needed at home with personal care needs and gradually Tendacare was born and the business grew.
Now I continue to be responsible for leading and directing the homecare service that we provide employing 50 staff who share the same commitment and values as I had when it first began. With pride, I can say that Tendacare has a really good team of staff who know and understand how to set up and follow through packages of care that will give the outcomes our clients desire.
