Tendacare is an established local homecare organisation of over 30 years that provides homecare visits to adults who are generally older and/or disabled living in the neighbouring areas of Great Bookham, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom. Many of the staff work proudly for Tendacare and have done for many years because they really understand person-centred care, independence and dignity.

Following discussion and a non-obligatory assessment by an experienced assessor, visits can be arranged from half an hour and increased in quarter of an hour time blocks as required.
(Recently commenced are 1/4hr visits to clients who need just medication administration). Clients can receive as much or as little care as they wish, from once a fortnight to five times a day with two care staff if needed. Tendacare staff are flexible and responsive to clients’ needs and use careful planning to provide a tailored service that considers clients’ commitments and appointments.

I used Tendacare for the first time after my mum died as we needed a couple of hours care a day for my dad and the agency that looked after my mum had no availability so I looked locally at alternative providers. Now I really wish we'd used Tendacare for Mum's care as well.
The team were amazing,
they conducted the initial house visit assessment, they listened carefully to my dad, spoke to him rather than me and ensured he was comfortable with the support. He had a core team of 3 carers and got to know them all well, they accepted his quirky-ness and the rigidity of his daily routine without batting an eyelid. Towards the end of his life when we required additional support this was provided at short notice. We had access to an app which was updated promptly after each visit so we could see what had been needed. The team were truly outstanding and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The carer's timekeeping is very good. They are always pleasant, friendly and good at listening. They ask if I want any extra help. I feel clean, refreshed and tidy after their visits. I am satisfied with the office contact if anything changes.

I turned to Tendacare when my wife became chronically ill because they had attended to my neighbour for many years and she spoke highly of their care reliability and professionalism. I did not regret my decision. The staff were always friendly, cheerful, caring and knew their job. They always told my
wife what they were going to do and also kept me in the loop. They never seemed to be rushed. They had time for us both. Communication was also good with the office. I have nothing but praise for Tendacare and wish them well. A carer and staff member both came to her funeral. So kind and so thoughtful.

Many thanks to Tendacare. Outstanding on every level. Each and every carer brings their love and devotion to the client (my mum) and brings their character too. Offering a warm and friendly atmosphere. Each one is unique and special. We are so lucky that our mother was so very well cared for and happy,
especially in her last days. She loved all the carers that came. They were very professional and skilled. They always went to extra mile.

Tendacare came to visit my mum for over three years. The carers were always totally professional whilst being friendly, caring and upbeat even when Mum was very unwell. Mum used to look forward to the carers coming as they were always cheerful, and she knew they would think of the little things that
were important to her, ensuring that she could be herself and always making sure she was treated with empathy & dignity. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tendacare to anyone needing carers for themselves, a family member or a friend. Thank you for everything you did for Mum.

Tendacare started looking after my mother in January 2016 after she had suffered a small stroke. She remained happily in her home until July 2022 when she unfortunately fell and broke her shoulder. After a short spell in hospital she has now moved to a Nursing home at the age of 93. During the seven
and a half years that Tendacare looked after her, I was extremely confident that she was well cared for. If they had any concerns they would contact me. Their team was always cheerful and my mother very much looked forward to their visits. Sometimes there were periods when she needed a lunchtime carer too, for example after a hospital procedure and although they require notice, they were very accommodating and flexible with their attendance. I have no hesitation in recommending them. My greatest thanks go to Tendacare who made it possible for her to stay in the home she loved for so long.

Different assistants often used but all were prompt, courteous, assistive and personally pleasant. Washing and dressing routines were made easy by the help given. Booking appointments arrangements were occasionally insecure. Original introduction visit by office senior, fully explanatory and inspired
confidence that the service would be good - and so it transpired. Recommendations of Tendacare by friends proved accurate I am pleased to say.

My wife and I are well pleased with Tendacare. The carers are competent and have been very helpful in arranging for her to start walking again. They have kept all appointments and although a small number have been late, these have been difficult times. We are certainly happy to recommend them.

I requested Tendacare carers for my 91-year-old mother to help her in recovery from a major operation in hospital. The ladies have been a great back-up to my caring. I have found every aspect fantastic, from the initial introduction to Tendacare, how they work, what the ladies are happy to do and looking
after my Mum. They have cared for Mum how I am caring for her, from ensuring her medication is taken, preparing light lunches and snacks to even putting the washing out. Probably the most important thing to me is they have made time to have a chat, sometimes a quick coffee. Their paperwork is also highly organised and thorough. A very professional caring company. I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Thank you.

Tendacare provided a very efficient and caring service for 4 months for my mother who was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The office staff always responded quickly to phone calls and set in place extra help as it was needed. It took a while for my mother to settle into a routine with the visits,
as she was fiercely independent, but over time, she grew to look forward to their visits, especially the ones she formed a close bond with. The care and empathy my mother was given (and also myself and other family members) in her last few days, was second to none. Thank you to everyone at Tendacare.

The over 30-years that some of the management and staff have worked for Tendacre is impressive and reassuring. My wife and I appreciate all their human understanding, some of them have been nurses and particularly caring. The only trouble is that Covid-19 has created unexpected difficulties at short
notice. The manager keeps us well informed about this. They are a very hard working team.

Tendacare cared for my mother-in-law for 5-years with developing Alzheimer's. We were impressed with the way staff and management looked after her with her evolving needs with sensitivity and professionalism. In the early days, we remember cheerful care staff developing good relationships with her,
maintaining effective personal care as dementia developed. Visits increased from 2 to 4x a day, we knew she was safe in their hands, staff were well organised, knew what to do, reliable, their good sense of humour did wonders. They alerted us when she was off-colour, and on two occasions, called and briefed ambulance staff and stayed till we arrived. During covid, we were well informed on how she was, how she was eating etc. When she suddenly moved to our home, the agency responded immediately - staff experience and training shone, suddenly doing bed washes, commode transfers, catheters, feeding, all with a smile, a good dose of compassion for mother-in-law, and buckets of reassurance for us.

I went downhill fast after being diagnosed with MS and was very scared at how I was quickly unable to do simple tasks, this is when Tendacare stepped in helping me to wash, dress and prepare my lunches whilst my husband was at work.
I felt I didn’t want to ask my husband to do everything I needed
all the time. Tendacare filled these needs and are very flexible with the timings I require. The same carer is very important to me when showing which they have provided for a long time! I feel very safe and looked after in their care.

Tendacare has been providing my father's care for a few months. I can only sing the praises of all the staff that help support my Mum with Dad's complex needs. The staff show compassion, empathy and kindness. They have a genuine concern for his wellbeing and for my Mum's. When I visit Dad, he is always
showered and clean-shaven, comfy in his bed. The staff take their time to make sure everything is completed that needs to be done, and always offer my parents a cup of coffee or soft drink before they leave. They do go the extra mile and go above and beyond. The team always asks how they are and makes conversation, which is so important as loneliness is a big thing for my Mum being his main carer.
Having Tendacare in place has allowed me to step back and focus on my work without panicking about Dad's care, especially over the pandemic. The staff always follow PPE and infection control guidelines to keep themselves and my family safe. Tendacare is exceptional! Highly recommended!

On the whole, we were very pleased with the service my father received. The staff were very friendly and proficient also very reliable. The other good thing, if possible, they kept to the same carers, which was very good for Dad.

My name is Sue Smith and I am the owner and registered manager of Tendacare.
It is over 30 years since I had the 'dream' of having my own business. When leaving school I trained as a nurse and after a few years of working in various staff nursing posts, I became a district nurse and worked in the community.
During this time I could see there was a need arising for people to be able to organise and be in control of the support they needed at home with personal care needs and gradually Tendacare was born and the business grew.
Now I continue to be responsible for leading and directing the homecare service that we provide employing 50 staff who share the same commitment and values as I had when it first began. With pride, I can say that Tendacare has a really good team of staff who know and understand how to set up and follow through packages of care that will give the outcomes our clients desire.
