The standard of care that my mother receives is excellent. The carers are always polite, professional, smart and appear to be well trained. My mother's behaviour can be challenging but the carers are always understanding and remain good-humoured. Generally, the carers arrive within fifteen minutes of my mother's standard care times but there are occasions when the rota can change without warning. This can be frustrating and upsetting for my mother who needs routine and certainty. The care is extremely expensive, so not affordable to many.

My terminally ill wife required the support of carers.

A short time ago, Bluebird care was required to provide care to my terminally ill wife. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult time for me, and the support of carers was very much appreciated. What I don't think I appreciated was the very high level of genuine care and support we actually received. All the carers were highly professional in all they did, but more important to me, and my wife, was the kindness they showed on every visit. They managed to make her laugh, and feel that she was important to them. When she passed away three weeks ago, some of the carers cried, and I was so touched that they thought so much of her. It has been the most difficult 3 weeks of my life. But I would like to take this chance to give my heartfelt thanks to all the staff and carers at Bluebird. I won't forget their warmth and kindness.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care received by my uncle from the Darlington Bluebird Care team. He had visits four times a day from a small group of carers, who got to know him very well. They built up an excellent relationship with him and enabled him to spend the last months of his life at home, where he wanted to be. My uncle was treated with dignity and carers frequently went beyond the call of duty to ensure he was cared for in a way that suited him. I was particularly impressed by the calibre of the carers - I felt confident that my uncle was in good hands and extremely grateful that they were able to respond appropriately and swiftly when they noticed that something was amiss with his health. I also very much appreciated the level of communication with me and the support I received, personally. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Bluebird Care, Darlington.

The palliative care girls who were assigned to my mam were AMAZING!! They literally fitted right in with our family from the off! We had a lot of fun and laughter which made my mam feel so at ease with them in caring for her. The support they gave me too alongside my mam was second to none!. Don’t ever stop being yourselves because that’s what makes you special, it takes a lot of compassion in what you do and nothing was ever too much. Can’t thank you enough girls.

My mother is very old now and what local support friends she had have now their own health problems. She has been with Bluebird care for a number of years and their daily support has been essential. As I and her other family live hundreds of miles away we can only support her personally to a very limited extent. Bluebirds support to my mother in her increasing needs to visit hospital has been crucial. I have found them easy to contact to help sort out crises as they have arisen and find that whoever I contact knows her circumstances. They have brought an excellent caring environment to my mother's needs and I am thankful that I have them helping my mother.

My sister's health has deteriorated within the last few months, to the point where she could no longer live independently without support. She started with having carers a couple of times per week and has increased this to three times. Due to my sister's learning disability and mental ill-health, she is very resistant to change, but the careful onboarding by the care manager made this a very smooth process. My sister really likes the carer she has been allocated, who has managed to swiftly build a great relationship between them both. The care provided has been varying, including help with applying cream to an infected leg, assistance with personal cleanliness, cleaning the bungalow and preparing meals. The addition of care has not only had a positive impact on my sister, who has not only made a step improvement in her physical and mental health, but it has reassured me and alleviated some of my worries and concerns.

Hi Rob, thank you so much for this review. We are so happy to hear what our home care has done for your sister and yourself, its great knowing it has had such a positive impact. The care my Dad was given in his final days was first-rate! The Bluebirds treat him with dignity and respect throughout and were very considerate of his wishes. The girls really made an effort to talk to us on a very personal level. They couldn't have done more to make my Dad's final days as comfortable as possible whilst offering support to myself and my Mam as well.

After over 12 months of trying to support my mam without any assistance, finding Bluebird Care is such a great relief to me. The staff attending daily to her could not be any more caring than they are. My mam is finding it extremely helpful both physically and mentally, we hope it can continue as long as possible.

The care provided by Bluebird Care Newcastle & South Tyneside is excellent and cannot be faulted, the ladies taking care of Mam are exceptionally kind and we are very happy with everything. The company has an excellent attitude towards us, they listen and help whenever needed. The ladies actually on the ground have developed a lovely relationship with my mam and to Bluebird’s credit, they have managed to keep the team around my mam very stable and considering she needs 24-hour care this can’t be straightforward. Our experience over the last 12 months has been very positive. We can’t thank them enough.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the carer who provided care for my mother 18.11.20 at dinner time and tea time. She prepared a lovely healthy and nutritious meal at dinner time and she was so supportive both to my mother and other family members. Sometimes just listening is all that is needed and this carer certainly ranks highly in this skill, together with a great depth of empathy. Thank you so much.

Reliable, sensitive and appropriate in their delivery of carers. Friendly but also professional and not interfering. Helpful and in some cases beyond their role entails. Plus they have managed to keep my parents safe from Covid-19 for 6 months.

Too many different carers to provide stability. There is one main carer each visit and a second one who sometimes does not really understand the care needs of my mother and father-in-law. I/we find it hard to fully trust that my parents-in-law's care needs will be fully met.

I have found the carers to be polite and friendly. They have treated my husband with respect and given him the required help. His needs vary as his condition fluctuates. In the three months, we have used this service I have not needed to ring the office much but when I did I found it difficult to get the required information. Only once did someone get back to me quickly.

My experience of Bluebird is often very frustrating for example ringing the office and promises of a call back that never happens. The amount of carers within a week has sometimes been as many as 9, this problem is very unsettling for Mam who is 98.

The Director helped sort this problem, it is better but still not 100%. I had to get in touch with him as the coordinator and manager did not listen to my anxiety and stress over this problem.
