I am so grateful for bluebird care. They have made it possible for my father with dementia to stay at home as he wished, first by having carers visit twice a day for a year, and now with his condition progressing by having a full time live in carer. I was concerned about live in care and how my father would respond to this after being so used to being alone, but bluebird made the transition gentle and seamless, offering a trial that could lead to a permanent position if it worked out, which it did much to my relief. Having bluebird live in care has taken so much weight from my shoulders, I can now visit my dad as my dad rather than as an extra carer. I no longer have to do household chores, personal care, washing, shopping and appointments.I have gained my time back and can now focus on growing my young family which has been a true gift, all whilst knowing my father is happy and well cared for, exactly as he and I would like. I would highly recommend to anyone in the same position.

There were one or two occasions during the last couple of weeks when the Carer arrived too late and I had to get myself washed and dressed as I had visitors/cleaners coming - but this is a very minor criticism and I have been very impressed by the care and professionalism all the Carers have shown me.

This was my wife's and my first experience of care (needed because I was receiving a hospital day procedure), so we were somewhat anxious about how it would be. In the event, the assessment from the Care Coordinator was careful and professional, and the care provided to my wife by the Bluebird carer was excellent. The Carer was warm, skilled, my wife felt treated with dignity. When I returned from hospital I found my wife and the Carer playing Scrabble together. We engaged Bluebird Care to support us in looking after our Father after he suffered a back injury. Our father is 94 years old and has been fiercely independent all his life. His recent injury meant that he could no longer continue to live independently, in particular requiring 24 hours care which my sister and I could not provide. Bluebird responded extremely rapidly and sensitively. They visited us at home and helped us put together a suitable care package that has enabled our Father to stabilise and begin his recovery in his own home. The carers who have worked with him have all been very sensitive, caring, humorous and capable individuals and we couldn't be happier with the support they have provided us through this difficult period. Their support has been instrumental in the improvements we have seen in him this past month.

The dementia advisor is very helpful and has come up with some good activity suggestions. She also provides general good all round advice based on her experience of working with other Dementia sufferers.

were very pleased with the excellent morning and night care Bluebird gave my brother, we came to realise that his needs were no longer going to be met by just a carer in the morning and one in the evening. We explored the idea of "live-in" care for my brother as he was often up in the night turning on switches etc., and as we were asleep upstairs we had no knowledge of what my brother was doing downstairs. We discussed "live-in" care with the Bluebird Care Manager for live-in, and it was arranged for a lady to come just for two weeks respite care and we would see how we got on and hopefully it would improve my brother's quality of life.
After two weeks respite care for my brother, with the skilled carer, we seen a remarkable improvement in him. Walking improved; eating more & gaining strength. He had problems with his balance & with the carer's guidance, this improved.

I cannot fault the care he received from Bluebird care in the last weeks of his life and every carer was a pleasure to see. They never seemed to be in a rush and checked on my Mum every visit as well.

Bluebird adapted to changing circumstances of both my parents, and identified suitably matched carers for their personalities. Our young carer is so bright and cheerful and mum enjoys walking the dog around the field with her when she comes each week to give dad a rest. The dementia adviser has been especially helpful and supportive to us as a family.

Carers come five nights weekly to help my husband at bedtime. They are unfailingly professional, cheerful and obliging. As with any profession, some are better than others but I couldn't fault any of them. Staff in the office are also helpful and an email elicits an invariably helpful response.

When my husband came out of hospital in March 2024, he was put on palliative care and was only given a few days to live. He was so ill. He was attended to by the district nurses and charity nurses daily. He was also looked after by two Bluebird Care carers four times a day. I looked after him for the rest of the time. It was amazingly hard work and I would not have been able to do it on my own. There were different carers on different shifts but they were all courteous, caring and gentle. He is so much more improved with the care he is receiving. They are all very friendly and include us in the conversations. We have grown to love them all now. Hubby is now doing so well with their help and we even look forward to seeing them now.

Bluebird Care has been able to adjust to the changing needs of my parents and provided excellent care throughout. My parents' live-in care support was very good and having a carer present all the time provided reassurance. We have been very happy with the care support.

We have used Bluebird Care for over a year now and the care they have given to our mum has been invaluable. Each of her carers is respectful of her needs and works hard to deliver her care plan in a way that suits her best and that she is comfortable with. We have been able to adapt and increase care over this period and at every stage, Bluebird has worked with us to accommodate changing needs. This has helped us enormously to continue caring for our mum at home where she is happiest.

Generally a very reliable service, but some inexperienced staff who seem confused without direction. There seems to be a desire to finish early rather than do a little extra, eg light housework. Extra training might help with cooking, not for all but for some of the carers.

My dad's care needs have increased due to the progression of the dementia. I had no hesitation, following consultation with the GP, to opt for live-in care in November 2023. We decided to remain with Bluebird Care as they had provided the care for my dad ever since his diagnosis over seven years ago. This care has been excellent throughout this time and the exceptionally high standards have continued with the live-in care. I have total peace of mind that my dad has the best and most appropriate care for his needs being provided by Bluebird Care 24/7. My dad now has a much better quality of life, his dietary, personal hygiene and medical needs are taken care of plus he now has opportunities to visit places outside his home more frequently accompanied by the carers. I have seen a marked improvement in his well-being and happiness as a result of having the care package in place, he now has company throughout the day and no longer feels lonely.

Tamsin’s career moved into Dementia Healthcare in 2017 after gaining an NVQ3 in Dementia Care studies during the pandemic lockdowns, in her previous role as a Dementia Adviser in Oxfordshire. Before this, she had worked for many years as a CIPD-qualified Human Resources Generalist, working in Education/Care settings. Tamsin has always been a people-focused person, so the move into person-centred Dementia Care has been a natural progression as well as somewhat of a passion. Tamsin is delighted to be able to continue using her specialist experience, skills and dementia knowledge, with our customers affected by dementia. She sees supporting and advising their family members as an extremely important side of her role in this new position with Bluebird Care in West Berkshire and North Hampshire.
