Home Instead (Durham) supported my sister to remain in her own home as long as possible in her battle with Alzheimer's, for a period of 2 years up to the end of August 2022. The service was professional and caring throughout and I highly recommend them.
Home Instead have been supporting my mum for 3-years now; they have adapted the care they provide as her needs have changed. We have had consistent carers who know my mum and her needs really well. Nothing is too much trouble for them, likewise, the office team are always professional and accommodating. As a family, we couldn’t have coped without Home Instead and the wonderful ladies.
Thank you for this review; we are pleased that we have met your expectations.
Excellent service. Everything done to perfection. Would recommend the company from the office to the caregivers. They come on time, do everything you need and is always the same carer.
Thank you for reviewing our service, we are pleased that we have met your expectations.
Service received from Home Instead caregivers has been excellent, especially since my father passed away in December. They provide a very caring, responsive and reliable service to my mother and always try to use the same group of carers who have become familiar with my mothers needs.
Thank you for reviewing the service we provide for your mother.
Mum's short term memory has declined over the last few months and they all help her make light of this, laughter is always included during a visit.
I also appreciate the respect they show, and that Mum is always in good spirits after each visit.
The dedication and kindness they bring is of great help to me too, and the fact their visits allow my husband and I time to ourselves is very valuable.
Thank you to all Durham Home Instead Care Workers and staff, please keep on with the good work.
Thank you for such a lovely review, we have shared this with the ladies who support your mum.
My mother has been a client of Home Instead for over 2 years. The standard of her care has always been exemplary. Her carers always go 'above and beyond' to ensure she is comfortable and happy. They have become not just her carers, but friends too. At the onset of covid, Home Instead were ahead of the game in terms of PPE provision for carers with very high infection control standards. During lockdown, my mother sustained a stroke. We decided as a family to care for her at home to keep her as safe as possible. We could not have managed this without help from Home Instead. She now has dementia, and at each visit her carers always try to stimulate her memory, looking at photos and chatting with her as well as fulfilling her practical care needs. As a daughter, this high standard of care ensures I have peace of mind and allows me to spend time with my family and grandchildren and continue my social life. Thank you Home Instead for your excellent care
Thank you for such a lovely review of the service we provide, we have shared this with the carers who to visit your mum and they are really touched. We are pleased that we have met your expectations.
This was so important, as we all took the time to get ourselves used to the idea that Dad was no longer able to live entirely independently.
Dad’s medication, personal care, shopping and nutritional needs were no longer a worry, being taken care of by the personal care package worked out between ourselves and the Home Instead Team - all with Dad’s needs and wishes taken into account.
Just as important was the quality time the team spent with Dad, offering him conversation, reading articles of interest to him when his eyesight deteriorated, and generally spending time getting to know him and his interests.
The team treated Dad with the sensitivity, respect, and dignity we all want for our loved ones.
Thank you for your review, your dad was very much liked by the team
Home Instead provided excellent and caring support for my aunt - helping to ensure she died at home - and my uncle, who would not otherwise have been able to manage at home on his own. The staff were exceptionally kind and went way beyond the call of duty in their care.
Thank you, it was a privilege to care for your aunt and uncle
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other family and friends.
Thank you for your kind words, which have been shared with your parent's carers.
Home Instead helped me to care for my dying mother in September, and then visited my father regularly after her death until his own in January. Their staff were all excellent, and my parents were very fond of them. Their service was professional and full of loving-kindness. I can't recommend them highly enough or imagine a better service. One carer, in particular, went above the call of duty and rescued my father after a fall by stopping in outside of her regular hours, and stayed with him for four hours until an ambulance arrived. She was fully supported by the company who ensured her shifts were covered while she did this.
Thank you for this review, your mum and dad were loved by their CAREGivers. Your kind words have made their week. We were privileged to have been with them at the end of their lives.
Provided excellent support.
Enjoyed continuity.
Thank you for your kindness.
Thank you for the review and your email expressing your thanks, I have passed on your comments to your CAREGivers, whom you said were excellent and enjoyed a laugh with. I know you said you will recommend us.
Excellent service and peace of mind, as my mum lives 250 miles from me. Home Instead have supported my mum to a very high standard. Thank you!
Thank you for your review, we know how hard it can be when you live away from parents who need support.
As usual, the review went extremely well and carried out by a very nice young lady who showed genuine interest in all that was discussed.
The carer was a lovely lady who treated my mother-in-law with great understanding and compassion.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this organisation to anyone who wants their loved one treated with dignity and respect.
Thank you for reviewing us, we were pleased to be able to help you.
My husband and I have had great help and care from Home Instead. Everyone is so friendly and caring. And I would recommend the service they give to anyone needing it.
The manager is extremely helpful. The carers are excellent and the same people are sent so there is continuity.
Thank you very much for leaving this lovely review.
Home Instead, provided much-needed care and support for our elderly mother, in a situation where we lived far away from her and relied on professional help to keep her safe. The service was amazing, the ladies who looked after mum very much became her friend's and she looked forward to their visits. They were quick to act on concerns and anything that went wrong in the home would be addressed immediately. We can not speak highly enough of their care service and would highly recommend . They give my father and my siblings much needed peace of mind. A massive thank you to everyone who helped us.
Thank you for reviewing us, it was a pleasure to support your mum.
I cannot thank her and the rest of the team enough.
Thank you for this review, and thank you for the beautiful flowers and card you brought in.
My father was supported in his home here with us by Home Instead over a period of two years ending in March 2019. I chose Home Instead precisely because it rated as Outstanding and because only the best is ever good enough for my father. I can confidently say that without the help of his two exceptional companions and their care manager, I would not have been able to sustain the level of support my father required in order to remain at home with us. The attention to detail the companions took in planning and suggesting visits and activities was exemplary and they quickly became extended family members to us and surrogate daughters to my father. The care manager's ability to respond swiftly and effectively to my father's requests and her willingness to even take on shifts herself where necessary were well beyond the call of duty. The managers are driven by compassion and professionalism and I have always found their support and empathy for my position as full-time carer of invaluable help.
We, as a family, are so grateful to Home Instead Durham for the help in looking after my father who has Alzheimer's. We recently went to a family wedding overseas and left Dad with 24-hour care for 5 days in his home, we came back to a happy and content Dad which was amazing. The Caregivers are patient, kind and professional, we are thrilled with our choice. Home Instead used the same caregivers that Dad has every morning which was amazing as they know him and are fantastic.
Thank you for this review.

Meet the Team (7)
As our Operational Manager, I am responsible for ensuring that clients have the highest quality care and that we exceed all their expectations.
I am registered with CQC who monitor the provision of care, ensuring that standards are met. I'm very proud to work for a company that has achieved the rating of OUTSTANDING from CQC three times. This is the highest rating they can award and we are so proud to have achieved this!
I have managed a variety of care settings over the last 25 years and I always take a person-centred approach to the care we deliver.
I meet new clients and their families to discuss their needs and the type of care that they would like, we work to meet the needs of the client, and we don't expect our clients to fit in with current schedules, the client tells me when they would like their visits and for how long, I then write a care plan unique to the individual and match them with care pros to ensure a really good relationship is built.
I joined Home Instead Durham in 2019. As our Care Manager, I support our Operational Manager Helen on a daily basis and I have a varied role which includes supporting and supervising our team of staff, delivering training, meeting new clients and families to plan their care, visits to clients to monitor the quality of the care they receive and directly supporting clients to ensure we are providing the best possible quality care.
I joined the Durham team as a care pro in 2020, after working for another Home Instead office in Devon. in 2021 I was promoted to join the office support team.
As our Care Quality Lead, my role is very varied. From recruitment, meeting prospective new clients and their families and developing bespoke care plans that carefully meet their needs. I support the training of our Care Professionals and I am our designated Mental Health First Aider, a role which allows me to give extra support and signposting to any of our team who need it.
I have been with Home Instead for 11 years, I am the first point of contact people have with Home Instead, I answer the phone and greet visitors.
As an Operational Support officer, my role is to ensure that our clients get the support they need at the right time, with the right care pro. We carefully match our carers and clients so that we can provide relationship-led care and support.
I love being involved in hosting our companionship cafes and making sure people feel welcome. I have a lot of contact with our Care Professionals and I’m part of our recruitment and retention team, making sure we look after our team so they can look after our clients.
I started working at Home Instead Durham in 2019 as a Care Professional, then I was successful in 2021 in achieving a role as part of the office support team as a Care Quality Supervisor. My role is to supervise and support care pros to deliver the highest quality care. I work with new staff to ensure they are well supported and to guide them through completing their Care Certificate.
I visit clients to carry out quality monitoring as well support them with their care and carry out moving assessments as required.
I joined the team in 2023 as a Care Professional having moved 'up North' from another Home Instead Franchise. I am new to my role as Field Support Supervisor within the office support team. This role includes supporting Care Professionals to provide outstanding care, carrying out 1-1 supervision, and visiting clients to either provide care or to check that their care continues to meet their needs and they are happy with the quality of the service we provide.
I joined Home Instead as a Care Professional in 2016 and loved visiting my clients and supporting them. Then I had the opportunity to join the office team as the scheduler ensuring that our clients are matched with the right care pros so relationships can be built and that care pros have schedules that meet their availability, whilst ensuring consistency for our clients, and that every visit is always for at least 1 hour.
