My ladies have changed my life. They are lovely. We go out for lunch. I've used them for five years without any complaints or problems.
Thank you for your review, it has been an absolute pleasure knowing you for all these years.
We now have someone going every morning and evening, they make sure tablets are taken, ablutions are done and lunch is prepared for the day. My husband and I cover tea time and then someone comes to make sure my mother-in-law gets to bed ok. This is so reassuring. As with the nature of this disease, it will be a changing picture as we go on but we are so blessed to have this great team of lovely ladies helping my mother-in-law to stay at home. Nothing seems to be a bother to them. Thank you so much.
We know people want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, and we always do whatever it takes to make sure that happens. Thank you for the review.
The care my mother receives from Home Instead allows her to remain in her own home and keep her independence. I live overseas so knowing she has companionship and care is vital.
My sister and I are absolutely delighted with Home Instead Senior Care, which we have been using for our mother for a couple of years now. We find the organisation and staff very thoughtful, responsive to our mother's needs, and completely reliable. The assessment and care planning process is very thorough, and it has given us enormous peace of mind. Our mother has flourished with the social contact with the carers. We cannot recommend Home Instead too highly.
It's reassuring we are meeting expectations.
They cared for Mum superbly and now do the same for Dad.
Their caring, compassionate staff are second to none: punctual, consistent, thoughtful and supportive, and go over and above.
The management team are highly efficient & highly skilled: a well led team.
As a working person, who doesn't live close to my elderly parent: I'm reassured that Dad is in safe hands, cared for, and not socially isolated
Thank you for this review.
My mother has dementia. Over the last 4 years, Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) has been helping us to provide care for mum. Initially, this entailed 2 visits a week but by 2018 mum was being visited 3 times a day and Home Instead Senior Care were doing mum’s shopping, meals, medication and helping her to wash and dress. In 2018, mum moved into a care home. Continue to visit mum in the home 2 times a week taking her out for trips once a week. They take mum to all medical appointments. One carer visits mum each week but another 2 carers provide support as and when required. All 3 carers are highly skilled, know mum very well and care very much for her. We know that however chaotic life in the home may be, there are some constants in mum’s life and someone to keep an eye on her for us. All of this time Home Instead Senior Care have provided brilliant advice and support. They are totally reliable and trustworthy and we know that they will never ever let mum down. I don’t know what we would have done without Home Instead Senior Care!
Thank you for such a positive review.
The staff and carers are excellent. Nothing is a bother. The carers are always on time and never leave without asking if there is anything else they can do. They care about their customers.
Thank you for such a lovely review.
The insistence on providing carers with whom we are familiar is very reassuring for the patient and helps cement their relationship.
Also, the 'behind the scenes' organisation seems to work wonderfully well. The welfare of the client is always paramount and absolutely essential for the service provider.
Thank you for leaving a review. I am delighted we have met your expectations.
I could not manage without Home Instead Senior Care (Durham). Not only have they changed my mam's life, they have changed mine. I have such peace of mind that the carers will look after mam just like I would. They are so cheerful, nothing is a bother and believe me my mam can be very awkward. They think on their feet and use common sense and initiative.
The office staff are wonderful and I know when I ring that my questions will be answered and actioned. They are professional and compassionate and run the best care company I have come across and I've used a few.
Home Instead contacted me during early November to ask for dates over the Christmas and New Year 2017 period that we would and would not be needing care for my mother. Because of rather complicated family arrangements that had to be made over the Christmas period, our information for the timetable was provided a little late. This, however, did not seem to cause any problems, and not only did they manage to provide a timetable of cover over this period, but managed to keep it so that the carers who came in were from my mother's usual support team.
Between Christmas and New Year, my mother decided that she did not want to take part a family New Year get-together and so at short notice, we had to ask for New Year's Day care, which was quickly provided. Yet another family re-arrangement two days later meant care was also as easily and cheerfully re-organised. Delighted.
This care company went out of their way on many occasions to see that my mother was safely and comfortably looked after when the family who lived far away couldn't be with her. There was consistency with the Carers who were introduced to my mother so that familiar faces were often seen and genuine relationships were built up revolving around trust and friendship. The carer would accompany my mother to hospital appointments and on one occasion stayed with my mother until the middle of the night while she waited to be admitted to hospital after a fall. Common sense prevailed amongst the carers and if they noticed anything amiss like medication running out or not taken the family and G.P were always informed. The carer even arranged for my mother to have an eye test and then picked up her new glasses for her. What a pity she couldn't have brought this care company with her to Oxford which is where she now lives. I would definitely recommend them to others. A big thank you.
We have been using Home Instead Senior Care (Durham) for over 6 months now and I cannot fault the standard of care provided and the professionalism of all staff. Home Instead Senior Care (Durham) make us feel very confident that dad is well cared for. If there is ever a need to contact the office to alter the care provided, the staff are always very helpful and supportive. Regular reviews are carried out and I cannot recommend the agency enough to anyone needing support for themselves or a family member.
Home Instead Durham have provided an excellent service to my relation. I cannot praise highly enough the director, her office team and the carers. The efficient and very helpful local office took great care to match the carers to my relation. Nothing seems too much trouble to the carers who are very able, caring and kind. They have taken a personal interest in the wellbeing of my relation who says she does not know what she would do without them.
I approached Home Instead when my father, aged 88, moved into a sheltered flat and was showing the early signs of dementia. They had been highly recommended to me by my brother in law as they supported my 94 year old mother in law with shopping and other household tasks. They immediately came to visit my father assessing his needs and put in place a care plan to ensure that he is able to live as independently as possible with a carers support .They have always been so incredibly professional and supportive, responding immediately when I have had to ask for additional help for him. They keep me well informed as I live some distance from Dad and are so caring, kind and always put his needs first. I get enormous reassurance as does Dad as they are so reliable which is so important to elderly people living alone. I cant speak highly enough of the service and care they provide.

Meet the Team (7)
As our Operational Manager, I am responsible for ensuring that clients have the highest quality care and that we exceed all their expectations.
I am registered with CQC who monitor the provision of care, ensuring that standards are met. I'm very proud to work for a company that has achieved the rating of OUTSTANDING from CQC three times. This is the highest rating they can award and we are so proud to have achieved this!
I have managed a variety of care settings over the last 25 years and I always take a person-centred approach to the care we deliver.
I meet new clients and their families to discuss their needs and the type of care that they would like, we work to meet the needs of the client, and we don't expect our clients to fit in with current schedules, the client tells me when they would like their visits and for how long, I then write a care plan unique to the individual and match them with care pros to ensure a really good relationship is built.
I joined Home Instead Durham in 2019. As our Care Manager, I support our Operational Manager Helen on a daily basis and I have a varied role which includes supporting and supervising our team of staff, delivering training, meeting new clients and families to plan their care, visits to clients to monitor the quality of the care they receive and directly supporting clients to ensure we are providing the best possible quality care.
I joined the Durham team as a care pro in 2020, after working for another Home Instead office in Devon. in 2021 I was promoted to join the office support team.
As our Care Quality Lead, my role is very varied. From recruitment, meeting prospective new clients and their families and developing bespoke care plans that carefully meet their needs. I support the training of our Care Professionals and I am our designated Mental Health First Aider, a role which allows me to give extra support and signposting to any of our team who need it.
I have been with Home Instead for 11 years, I am the first point of contact people have with Home Instead, I answer the phone and greet visitors.
As an Operational Support officer, my role is to ensure that our clients get the support they need at the right time, with the right care pro. We carefully match our carers and clients so that we can provide relationship-led care and support.
I love being involved in hosting our companionship cafes and making sure people feel welcome. I have a lot of contact with our Care Professionals and I’m part of our recruitment and retention team, making sure we look after our team so they can look after our clients.
I started working at Home Instead Durham in 2019 as a Care Professional, then I was successful in 2021 in achieving a role as part of the office support team as a Care Quality Supervisor. My role is to supervise and support care pros to deliver the highest quality care. I work with new staff to ensure they are well supported and to guide them through completing their Care Certificate.
I visit clients to carry out quality monitoring as well support them with their care and carry out moving assessments as required.
I joined the team in 2023 as a Care Professional having moved 'up North' from another Home Instead Franchise. I am new to my role as Field Support Supervisor within the office support team. This role includes supporting Care Professionals to provide outstanding care, carrying out 1-1 supervision, and visiting clients to either provide care or to check that their care continues to meet their needs and they are happy with the quality of the service we provide.
I joined Home Instead as a Care Professional in 2016 and loved visiting my clients and supporting them. Then I had the opportunity to join the office team as the scheduler ensuring that our clients are matched with the right care pros so relationships can be built and that care pros have schedules that meet their availability, whilst ensuring consistency for our clients, and that every visit is always for at least 1 hour.
