I am the guardian of one of your clients who lives in sheltered accommodation in the Westminster area. I live in the South West and, due to being remote from the person I am a guardian for, find the services of Bluebird Care critical for the safe management of her care. We have always found the care provided very good and your Care Managers are always extremely responsive to any queries or difficulties that may inevitably arise.

The client has recently had an unfortunate accommodation issue that resulted in significant disruption and distress. The care team at Bluebird Care stepped in and definitely went the extra mile to bring the situation under control quickly and efficiently; so minimising the impact and distress for the client. The care, dedication and professionalism of the carers and managers who dealt with the situation was second to none and has been hugely appreciated.

My mother's carer has become part of our family. We enjoy time together eating meals and doing other lovely things together. My mother is very happy being cared for in her own home so that we can continue to enjoy each other's company in a familiar environment. My mother's carer does so much: changing bedsheets, preparing meals, suggesting ideas for entertainment such as watching videos or going for a walk. Her cooking is excellent. She has a great sense of humour - much needed in many situations! We are thrilled with her, as a family.

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the amazing service our care staff delivered to my late husband during my family's most difficult time of need. The manager personally provided an incredible service supporting my husband throughout his difficult journey with Vascular Dementia from the beginning stages of the disease all the way to my husband's last few weeks at home receiving palliative care, he would literally always go out of his way to make sure we had the best staff, equipment and community professionals available on hand in between each stage according to his condition. With great charm and imaginative sympathy during his regular visits, he would give our family such a positive light in our darkest moments. I will be forever grateful and recommend his services to anyone who needs this type of support in their own home!

Overall Experience

We have two carers morning and evening from Bluebird Care. They get my wife up using a sling and hoist and transfer her to the living room, where she has a special lift up chair. They wash and dress her and get her breakfast and any other minor needs. The carers are very professional. They treat my wife extremely well and with care. They interact very positively with her and create a happy and relaxed experience for her. Over time her regular carers have become trusted friends, who do more than just help her with her disability.

A great well structured team that ensures to maintain a quality service from training of staff to the regular monitoring of works. They ensure that works are professional at all times. We are extremely happy that each carer goes out of their way to ensure that Dad's quality of life is maintained at a higher standard and the difference is evident from looking after Dad through to taking care of his surroundings. We have been delighted with the quality and care Bluebird provided to our elderly relative who has vascular dementia but remained very independent. Bluebird was able to try different carers and timings to find which combination worked best. We lived some distance away and it was good to see the senior management being hands-on and keeping us informed. It was marvellous that they were able to find a carer who obtained our relative’s trust so that they went to the laundrette together, took a bus to a large supermarket for shopping, picking up the laundry on the way back. Unfortunately, after another emergency hospital admittance (accompanied by her main carer) the care package had to end when the relative needed 24-hour care and the flat was not suitable. We would not hesitate to recommend the office.

We had the good fortune of getting help from Bluebird Westminster immediately after my husband had his hip replacement surgery. And we had the greater fortune in our first port of call being the care manager. She has an abundance of all the qualities one wishes for in a human being in care management: calm, kindness, understanding, compassion, empathy and an ability to explain challenges without sounding panicked. She truly is an oasis of calm and a far superior care manager than anyone I had to deal with later. Of course, we know we are dealing with a business when we come to you. But she makes it seem that providing quality care is as (if not more) important as making money. A later branch basically said it’s not worth their while to help those who can’t commit to long term care whether or not it’s needed! Their rigid motto (as it sounded!) was: if you can’t commit to pay for what you may not need, don’t expect help let alone respect! 5 stars below is for Westminster.

Bluebird Care has provided my mother with professional, wonderful and loving care. My mother needed 24-hour care and they have done marvellously. Their standards met my expectations. It made life much easier for all our family during a very difficult time. The respect and love was in their every detail and attention. I felt very happy and safe to leave my ailing mother in their hands , they have come back to me and my sisters with all the details required to provide my mother with the utmost comfort. Off course problems do arise but they were managed professionally by the management and customised the care to my mother's needs.

The carer has provided excellent care to my uncle. Bluebird has been great making sure my uncle has the same carers as much as possible which is much less confusing for him. The care manager has also been extremely helpful even popping in to see my uncle in person, which my uncle has really enjoyed. All the other carers have also been really helpful.

The carer has been highly supportive in a variety of ways, helping me shower, walking with me and accompanying me shopping and helping me to get in and out of cabs. Their also highly flexible and a delightful company.

I've been caring for my mum since 2010 after her first stroke. During these 10 years, I've dealt with a few care agencies and I must say that Bluebird is on the top of the list!. Very professional, very efficient, friendly, kind, thorough and creative approach. Creative in a good sense, individual and considering. Each step of care is based on a very detailed assessment. My mum has a lot of health issues. Her carers were very good.

Peter Slough

Peter’s first experience of arranging care was fraught and riddled with anxiety. “Finding care at short notice and trying to work with companies with no customer service ethos was frustrating. That’s when I thought there must be a better way!” Fast forward to 2023 and with over a decade of industry experience, Peter owns and oversees triple CQC Outstanding Bluebird Care Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea.

After university he worked for an NGO in New Delhi, using his law degree to change government policy and improve lives. This passion for transformative change permeates his operation of Bluebird Care Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea. “We are changing lives for the better, providing local residents with the opportunity to create their very best in-home support structure, delivered by Bluebirds. Requiring care and support can make one feel quite vulnerable. Our aim is to make choosing care an empowering moment, one that unlocks positive outcomes with the ultimate goal of remaining safe and happy at home.”

With his first foray into arranging care for a family member ending in disappointment, Peter notes, “Our most important ethos is to provide professional care that keeps each customer at the heart of their service… care that we would be happy for our own families to receive. Peter and his young family enjoy every aspect of the Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, and City of London boroughs from summer walks in Regents Park to winter ice skating at the Natural History Museum.

Nicola Bowditch

Nicola started her career in care over 10 years ago as a care assistant and a volunteer having looked after her grandparents. This experience helped him realise her passion for caring for others and making a real difference in people's lives.

Nicola joined us in 2011 and has worked for us as a Care Assistant, Coordinator, Supervisor, Deputy Care Manager, Operations Manager and Registered Manager. In that time she has gained considerable experience in the key functions within Bluebird Care and recently gained her NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care.
