My grandad uses Home Instead Senior Care (St Helens) and they are very good. They are very efficient and any questions I have they are sure to answer. My grandad also seems very happy when they are there and when they have been. Overall I am very happy with the service.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.976 for Home Instead (St Helens) is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.976
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (St Helens) is based on 14 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4.85
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Having looked after my elderly relatives for many years I know from first-hand experience how stressful and emotional it can be looking after a loved one or having to rely on others for help in the tasks of daily living. Not being able to rely on consistent high quality care was my major concern and it meant that on leaving my job I became the main caregiver for my loved ones. I wanted be able to have confidence to know that my family were being looked after properly, with dignity and respect when I wasn't there.
I was attracted to Home Instead due to its firm belief in the independence of individuals and in the desire to provide the highest quality care to older people living in their own homes. Their ethos and values of promoting the independence, choice and quality of life for older people is simple but so refreshing and having consistent CAREGivers to enable a relationship of respect and trust to develop is essential.
My role in the business is to build relationships with local providers and organisations; look for opportunities for Home Instead to contribute to the local community, and to manage the business side of the operation.
I have developed, with my daughter, a family business with family values to enhance the lives of older people in St Helens and surrounding areas.
